Fun fact: It’s not using “vacuum force” to press, it’s letting all the air from where you are on up to space to push down on it - the vacuum just gets the other air in the bag out of the way. Beautiful piece!!
@CoffeyCustomBuilds

Weird they call it a vacu press machine 🤔
@bloho_design
@bloho_design 9 месяцев назад
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds yea! It totally blew my mind when I learned about how it works (and that our skin is constantly being pressed on with the same force..) not that it really matters unless you are thinking about using a vacuum press in a low atmosphere environment like mars 😅😇

Look great! The only thing I would do different is use the veneer for the door and what you've got for the door for the back.
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 9 месяцев назад
Nice yeah I decided it was too much for front and center. But I prefer it as the back piece because you can see a bit of it in the open bottom shelf and it makes you want to open the door to see if it continues and see more. It was a design choice. I think putting the craziest piece of wood up front is a natural response for sure

Just as a tip for future. I did a bent lam glue up with /8 laminations myself recently, but I first steamed them and put them in the form, let them dry then did the glue up later. Worked fine, that was 100 yo oak too, really dry stuff. What a spectacular build too. Loved how you saved that awesome Burr veneer for whoever opens the door :)

Fantastic. Loved the progression going through step-by-step. Doing this and filming it while working on business is amazing to me. Jumping back in and being excited to get back to a project. My projects are done one process step at a time. Little by little and sometimes shop time is just setting up to do the step so it’s ready for the next time I have shop time. Getting a router out and putting the right bit in or finding the parts and pieces.

Great build, great video. I need to make something like this for my bathroom - wife doesn’t leave me much space on the vanity 😂 Out of curiosity, what properties does the Unibond have vs. something like Titebond that made it better for this application? Thanks
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 7 месяцев назад
Unibond has a longer open time but also dries hard. TB is elastic but UB can actually make a thin ply made with shop sawn veneers Ridgid.
@gregwild3981

Wouldn't the shaper origin have worked better for the door and the inset for the back?
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 7 месяцев назад
The size isn't consistent because it's a bent lam carcass so making the vectors for the reveals would be tough
@ElonPete
@ElonPete 10 месяцев назад
Oh, man! Looks like you didn’t get ANY spring back when you took the bend out of the form. Any tips on how you managed that?
@CoffeyCustomBuilds
@CoffeyCustomBuilds 10 месяцев назад
It actually sprung inward. I'm not 100% but I believe it's because I made the form so tight. I resawed the wood to give me exactly .625" and the added glue thickness made it extra tight. I think that tightness made it spring in.
