People become addicted to the feelings that these practices produce...just like a drug. Drugs are just another way for the spirits to gain access to a person and get them addicted to a feeling, the spirits produce the feelings the drugs are only a key to get in the door. Christian faith is not a feeling, the Holy Spirit lives inside of a Christian not to make them "feel" any certain way but to empower them to live a holy life unto God.

Ladies who are having a baby or thinking of doing so, please be careful if you seek child birth classes. Many have just plain breathing through your contractions, but there are plenty now that are doing actual breath work instead of just breathing deeply and releasing your breath through the pain of the contraction. It is very sneaky. Breathing slowly through your contractions is a wonderful way to stop the pain from overwhelming you, but be mindful that they aren't slipping in something else. There is a video I saw recently of a Taylor Swift concert. Everyone's praising her for how she can stay in character or change what she needs to do in order to be entertaining. She walks to the end of the stage and looks like she's taking a bunch of deep breaths in and all of a sudden she stands straight up in her whole face and eyes and demeanor changed.... You could see she was opening herself up for a spirit. Sadly not everyone sees it, that veil is very heavy over their eyes. The devil is in our face and people still deny it today....

As my former pastor (charismatic non-denominational church) started to go further off the deep end - he was teaching us to breath in the 'Holy Spirit'. He also mixed in Mormonism by telling us to feel the fire in our stomach and draw it up. I didn't even know how bad it was! But they literally copied everything from Elevation and Hillsong since bringing the music in the church.

It's only a matter of time before a scandal comes out about Furtick.

I have come to learn that anytime someone talks about the The Holy Spirit as some sort of abstract force that can be manipulated as opposed to talking about The Holy Spirit as the third person of The Godhead with reverence, I check out. There's no where to go at that point. It's really important to understand the doctrine of The Holy Spirit simply because of stuff like this. It really improves your ability to discern better. After all, discerning of spirits is one of the gifts The Holy Spirit imparts.

This practice is modified in NAI(Native American) religious practice. There is a book called Muddy Waters by a Christian NA that really shows connections to New Age, Eastern Mysticism, Divine Feminism. The more your study world religions, the more you are able to see that Christianity is the only worship that is different than all the rest. (minus the Furticks and Bethels)

I have also found it odd not to include "The" when addressing The Holy Spirit. I have seen the same with NAR churches and even friends that have escaped these movements. I tossed the Elevation Worship music in the trash some time ago along with several other groups. As for the hair . I don't get as excited about it as you do. I look at it knowing hair grows and hair goes. It's probably not going to last. The heart issue and the lack of commitment are a much bigger problem. The bringing people into a false religion with music that pleases man is an issue. I have no problem with the instruments because the bible has no problem with them. My problem is the lyrics are no scriptural. There's truth but there's deceptive wording as well. Those who are not savvy will fall.

If you are saved and the Holy Spirit lives inside you, then why would you need to breathe the Holy Spirit in?

When a person is born again they are filled with the Holy Spirit and that is for always. There is no reason to breathe in the spirit or pray for the spirit to come.

I think it comes from a teaching that came in a while ago, where it was taught that just like we have names, we don't call each other 'the' Cheryl, but only Cheryl. likewise, as they teach nor should we address the Holy Spirit as a The. The book of John does say that God breathed His spirit onto us, and Acts does refer to the Holy Spirit as a mighty rushing wind and resulting in tongues of fire. There are also other examples in the Bible referring to God as "fire". However, breathing in the Holy Spirit ourselves is not in scripture as a biblical practice, commandment, or phenomenon. It never says that our own breathing has anything to do with receiving the breath of life.

A whole load of churches promote Lectio Divina. On apps with Lectio Divina meditations they use these breath work as well...

In my former church people (mostly women) kept saying things like "God, blow (as in wind blowing, not exhaling forcefully) with Your Holy Spirit". I never understood how they can say this about a triune God where each person of the Trinity can reason with each other. I decided not to attend their services anymore because of people (again, almost exclusively women) speaking and ending with "thus sayeth the Lord" and speaking in "new tongues". I still keep in touch with them I love these people but I just cannot stand the lack of discernment displayed by them, especially the pastor and elders who seem to be fine with this and even encourage it.

Pastor Smith I have a question, so I’m a reformed/Calvinist in theology also go to a local Baptist church and I make contemporary style music. I’m not trying to sell it or market it but my lyrics have a lot more substance then elevation, hillsong and bethel. Is it ok to make the music but not try to get the churches to sing them as worship?

I took about 2 years of martial arts at the American Karate Center, and I never heard anyone talking about that stuff. We would tighten our muscles and breathe out fast saying, "Kia!", but that is to prevent our breath from being knocked out if we took a punch or kick to our stomach or solar plexus. I told our lead instructor that we should say, "Hia!", because making the 'K' consonant restricts airflow, and the 'H' consonant helps the airflow.

However I refuse to participate in the stuff and just sit quietly till the video is done and the teacher switches to the next lesson subject. I got asked once why I don't participate and I just said because it is unbiblical; this got me made fun of but I didn't really care.
