That would kill the player, but it could be a number of reasons to avoid it. He might not have wanted to be the target, thinking he wouldn't be able to win after, and he might have thought he needed the other blue player to control the others.

People are more afraid of what they see than what they don't see. Mike didn't know that Noah had all he needed to win in hand, but he did know Zack had the Shadowborn Apostles on the field, and those were wincons. Besides, Noah DID have an answer in the end - that Vedalken Aethermage he used to get Spellseeker, he could've flashed it in to block Dargo and reduce the commander damage to 19, thus surviving the attack.

I'm on your side on this. The Mono R deck's job is to kill any opponent as fast as possible especially if he's the only one playing blue. (Don't really count the 5 color deck to have that many answers.) In general, I think these matches were porely played, and I'm very disappointed at Cal bringing such jank to an cEDH game. And what's with those mulligans to 4 cards,.. you just don't...

@@williamwalley781 It's also playing with Power, not playing with jank. They should have some sort of filter of what's appropriate and not.

Yeah the combo sees a lot of play in high powered casual edh didn't expect it here in cedh.

That combo appeared once before on the channel and inspired me to built it myself

​@@kingfuzzy2 it sees some play in cedh, it's a long combo with like 20 steps so alot of people avoid it. I love it and have had the deck built for 2 years now, the scholar line is almost easier to pull off than the oracle or breach combos (the deck runs all 3 lines) 4 mana and a spellseeker people don't see it coming until its too late and miss the important interaction points

@@laicuan1 right on I had no idea until now that it was anywhere near popular.

Quickly checked gathered and besides the X cost ones, there are 8 0-drops. I think the type of creature doesn't matter, it's just part of the combo and you want a set amount of creatures to combo with. Apostles have a small upside to be able to cost 0 and have a different way to loop

@@shokoeis8437 they cost zero with edgerwalker sure but thats a janky one of. Birgi and drc or ragavan or skirk prospector or so many other cards all get there I just dont see the point

If you're talking about just straight bulk (cards no one wants), then sure. But Card Conduit's service offers a much wider swath than just getting rid of your bulk. If you have a bunch of cards of unknown value and don't want to go searching everywhere to figure out what the best buylist price is, then CC is a really good service.

That was an old line from Inalla. Most Inalla lists are on the exclusive spellseeker line now, but some people still run Wanderwine!

@@PlayingWithPowerMTG ah, I did not know that. I bought the precon a while ago and didnt really like playing it so i took it apart. Decided to rebuild after seeing the deck pop off on your channel awhile ago. I'd like to see how well the deck performs late game if the combo gets stopped.

@@wilfulbuckle13 That might be a bit of a stretch. I think Dockside shouldn't be banned because its value is dependant on your opponents' boardstates, whereas cards like Timewalk and Black Lotus are garaunteed disproportionate advantage. But the banlist is about more than disproportionate advantage or value:cost ratio, its also about what the committee deems a violation of the values/playstyle of commander.

I guess it's a good thing that wizards reprinted these with an in-universe theme pretty heavily in the set boosters for new capenna, thus ensuring ready availability of all the cards involved provided you don't crave the "stranger things" skin attached. Making your boycott of the episode a little less justified.

I'm aware of the availability of these cards in set boosters in New Capenna. The fact that they're available in that way is good in my opinion. I still don't support Universes Beyond. The fact that they make In- Universe versions of the cards is fine. I don't like the fact you can run both in your decks due to the different names. And the fact that they're outside IPs that Hasbro needlessly put into Magic to sell Secret Lairs. I don't think people who play these cards are bad and I'm not telling people, let alone PWP, that I won't watch their videos. I'm staying internally consistent with my own beliefs and choosing not to engage with things I disagree with. The only justification for my boycott of the episode is outlined above.
