Piranha Bytes is the most slept on RPG developer that actually crafts phenomenal games with some rough edges. ELEX 2 is my most anticipated RPG of 2022 tbh. Loved the first game.
Elex is not an AAA game, they have limited resources so they focus on the story (IMHO) and that is why the game is so fun. Graphics isn't so important, but the story and gameplay is. Elex is better than some AAA games in this regard. Piranha Bytes don't babysit you and it is truly open that is something I like a lot compared to other AAA games.
This. I felt like I had to work for everything I owned and work my way up the ladder for the faction I joined. I feel like this is what life would be if we really lived in a post apocalyptic world. I do wish we got a lot more rank specific missions within the faction, instead of just doing one mission for each overlord (I chose the Outlaws) to gain their favor to level right into the next rank though.
I have just gotten the game on sale I finally took the bait and I have to say I am enjoying it! lots of grinding in the beginning but it makes you think about when not to fight and how to level efficiently it makes you work for your levels instead of blasting through everything different from what I usually play P.S I want the Gothic remake to come out already would love to try that but will have to settle for Elex 2 next month instead.
I found Elex 1 and 2 in 2023. Played them both through several times. They’re Great Games. I could have lived without the peeing and snot blowing out the nose sounds in Elex 1.
It's impressive for a studio with 33 people. The animations aren't even that bad and neither are the graphics. At least they stick to their vision and make nice 3D adventures with rewarding exploration, and don't trend ride the 2D pixelsalad roguelike train like 90% of indies
I've enjoyed most PB games (except for the Gothic 3 expansion that shall not be named but that wasn't even by PB). There's something about their RPG formula I fell in love with, that zero to hero feeling you get when you start easily defeating enemies that gave you trouble before. Their world craftsmanship is top notch, too. Nothing about their maps feels procedurally generated, each building and hill is put there with purpose, as well as every lootable item. Exploration is easily the best part of their games to me.
to make ranged combat less OP, they have given many if not most enemies ridiculous accurate, far ranging and powerfull attacks that also include status effects like burning, freezing, poisen and bleeding. quite often a ranged attack can be much more deadly than a close range on, if you are not prepared. Unfortunatelly Elex 2 didn't fullfill the expectation on it. everything seems smoother but also nerfed and the enviroment lacks the wide range of dofferences that Elex 1 has. Over all Elex 1 is the better game, with better world and much more fun in exploring, even with the more clunky and sometimes unresponsive combat system. I'm currently replaying Elex 1 because I just like the world from the jungles of Edan to the desert of Tavar and the volcanic region of Ignadon. And while a lot looks very similar to earth, there're always those things that tell you it's alien. These things are severely missing in Elex 2, except for plot reason areas.
"If you are used to triple A rpg" What triple A rpg? The last good triple A rpg I played was New Vegas or Mass effect, or mabe skyrim, and dark souls. Triple A rpg are dead. The only one I've enjoyed that was released recently was cyberpunk 2k77, despite some flaws it was a great experience.
I think everything about this game is intentional. It's just the style of game they make. I am really sucked into this game I started it 3 days ago and really like it a lot. It's very old school. I miss games like this. And that's why they make it the way they have I think.Its really a good game. only thing I wish is a way to target swap. maybe there is but I haven't figured it out. U can turn off auto target though if you want.
My problem with this game is only that you have to use eyeglasses that highlight the items. This way you can't wear other headpieces, because you'll lose a Lot of items
Speaking of Elex 2, will our choices in the first game change anything in the sequel? Otherwise, I'm still having the time of my life on the consoles version of Elex (on PC, it's another story. I manage to meet Night Shades AND Trolls on my way to Goliet with Duras, even on the easiest difficulty mode).
I don't think we get to "import" anything into part 2. I read somewhere (plus factoring in the trailers) that the choices made by Piranha for Elex 2 line up with the general or majority choices made by us in game 1 so some canon choices were made by the devs.
@@innstikk No, seriously, the path used by Duras to direct me to Goliet is full of dangerous creatures like Trolls, Night Shades and Raptor Pack Leaders in the PC version (no matter the difficulty level). I don't go anywhere Duras never went. At least the consoles version isn't as dangerous and gives me more freedom. And for your information, Duras don't move if I'm not near him. So just running away isn't an option on PC.
@@innstikk It's easier said than done, The Troll is literally near the teleporter in the ruins near Goliet, a Raptor pack leader is hidden behind somes trees in the area leading to the bridges just before the Goliet teleporter and guess what I met instead of the mutated "young spine hound" on the way to Goliet (besides giant rats and like 2 rot boars, we meet at least a Spine Hound on our way to Goliet with Duras)? Night Shade. And for the record, I do try "avoid" these creatures (who can kill us in ONE hit at this point of the game, by the way) but it's annoying leading these dangerous creatures away from the areas I need to cross with Duras for the tutorial mission of Elex without getting killed when on consoles I do not have this problem.
Still? 🤔 just kidding. It is not that it isn’t good, it is more that is isn’t all that bad. It is kind of .. . Serviceable? It just doesn’t do a single thing all that well. For what it nearly does well, there are dozens of games ( in most cases not all ) that do that same thing better. For instance the jetpack. Cool addition, nit, also, done far better in other games, just not other Fantasy RPGs, with Aliens…. The fact that they charged full price for this is an issue. I got it free and would never suggest anyone pay more than $15-$25 for this unless you are a fan of mediocre RPGs with more jank than polish.
