Much appreciated@@TouchingBasesPod Life got a bit busy on my side and wasn't able keep up here. Hoping to one day find a way to bring it back in some capacity!
How do I add the camera audio to obs because I recently got a moman c1 for my birthday today and I don’t know how to connect it to obs can anyone help me please
My issue was resolved by simply unplugging the Cam Link and plugging it back in. Honestly I wasted 2 days trying to figure out why my videos were choppy and looked dreadful. Im not sure but Im guessing the Cam Link goes into some kind of "sleep mode" if not used within a period of time?
Could be an issue with the connection. Might be a bad HDMI, could be a bad USB port. Might be worth swapping some out to see if it persists! Might also be a computer problem if its having a hard time with the input. Couple variables to chase!
It might work just fine with USB 2.0 but there is a chance you'll get some stutters depending on the resolution and frame rate you choose. If you're adapting it to USB C then there should be no problem at all!
@@itsmikebotkin Well, I had stutters last week on my RU-vid live. (My laptop with USB 3 died so I'm using a different laptop). I tried plugging straight to USB 2 yesterday on my live and got a black screen. The USB to USB connector that comes with it didn't do the trick, either. I ended up going live on YT from my phone. Wondering if set up my Canon camera if that would make a difference??
@@itsmikebotkin I know for sure that it is. I was hoping to get my webcam working on it (It's also an Elgato so I'm not sure what the issue is). It's just easier sometimes to use the webcam. Thanks!
Hey mike! Great Video, gained a subscriber! Do you have a tutorial on how to connect to ops via wifi? We having troubles with camera Panasonic hc-x2000 showing up on OBS for livestream to RU-vid.
I had such a scew-wiff way of doing clean HDMI before watching this, by upscaling and pressing a less busy UI option on my camera... ahaha Thanks for giving me back 20% of my resolution!
Yup you sure can! I would make sure you're only using them inside OBS and not in another program that needs a webcam or cam feed. An example would be OBS is live and running and you connect to a Skype or video call and the web cam gets enabled. You'll instantly notice your feed gets messed up and looks corrupt. The Camlink can only function in one application at a time.
Could you use this to show your camera settings? For example, I am getting ready to teach a journalism class, and I would like to show my Canon's interface on the screen so they can see how I am adjusting shutter speed, ISO, etc. Would this allow me to do that?
Technically yes if you have the ability to disable clean HDMI out or send a Monitor Out feed! That should include all the HUD elements that you see in your viewfinder. Without knowing which cam you're wanting to try I cant say for certain.
can anyone tell me what type of hdmi plugs in to the Elgato? The stupid amazon page tells me nothing. It’s too small for normal hdmi right? Mini hdmi? Help.
Hello Mike, I am using Cam Link 4K device, I am no voice no audio is just quiet on back ground when I am streaming and download videos. Can you please guide which option I am missing.
Are you wanting audio from the camera to be used with the camlink? If so I'd recommend checking the audio settings in the camera. If you are using an external mic, make sure that its enabled in whatever recording software or hardware you are using to bring them together.
Mr. good morning or afternoon, greetings from Peru, I have a Sony 5100 and when I install the "camera link" software to use it with my "El gato camlink 4k" in obs I only get a dark color image and it does not show an image, what is that due? With my USB cable it works by changing between modes from (cinema) to (superior automatic) and using the Sony Edge, but with the software it is not showing an image in my obs, what could I be doing wrong or what do I have to configure? Greetings and thanks.
@@itsmikebotkin Thank you sir, I don't know English, but I used translate to be able to communicate. I already solved it, it was just going to buy a new HDMI to micro HDMI cable because the one I had bought was always broken, the only bad thing is that in my city, Peru It is not easy to find this type of cables, because there are not many that are interested in streaming or that have cameras. Greetings from Peru.
Yes you can but you’ll need two USB 3.0 root hubs. See Elgato’s details on that here: help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027959752-Two-Cam-Links-on-One-Computer-Two-USB-3-0-Root-Hubs-Needed
if you record video directly in mirrorless camera, and then record the same video from the camera using camlink and OBS, will the quality (brightness, color etc) of the video be the same...?
Depending on how you configure your bitrate and recording formats within OBS they could be quite similar. Some cameras have much better bitdepths than what OBS can pull off so YMMV. In short, yes but it depends on your settings on each source. Some cameras also shut off their HDMI out when recording begins on a camera so check to see if thats the case with whatever camera you're planning to use.
Thank you for sharing! I finally got my a7c to work (even though it's not listed on the elgato website) but when I try to customize my settings and switch from device default to custom, all I get is a black screen and it gives me no image no matter how long I wait. Other thing is, it's giving me video at somewhere around 15fps even though my camera settings are set to 1080 60fps. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
Alright, I had to uninstall and re-install all of my USB ports drivers and I got it to work when I choose custom settings. However, I still get very choppy video, even though both OBS and my camera settings match 1080p at 60fps. :-(
Alright I'm back. I had to replace the HDMI cable and that did the trick. Idk why because it was the same cable I was using with my elgato hd60 last night, but oh well, changing it fixed the problem. Hope someone else having the same issue reads this message and saves a bunch of hours looking for a camlink/OBS issue that's not there. Thanks!
@@AngelFreak_ Cables can be weird! Sometimes thats one of the main culprits if there are problems with a connection. Could have been old or maybe a micro pinch somewhere in the line. Glad its working for you now!
I double checked the Camlink comparability page and saw the T6i listed but not the T6. www.elgato.com/en/cam-link/camera-check If you meant to say you had a T6i then to enable clean HDMI output, disable auto focus in the camera settings or on the camera lens. Auto Power Off must be disabled in the camera settings.
If you light it properly, you should be able to still get a really solid image. Personally I'm using an FX3 for the intro and side angle which is a pretty beefy camera compared to the t5i. In the Basic Settings section I am using a Sony a5100 with a Sigma 16mm prime. That paired with 3 lights (key, fill, and a back light) makes it to where the camera isn't having to work very hard to get a solid image. All this to say, I believe you can but if you know your t5i struggles in low light or gets grainy, make sure you're well lit to compensate for that. I'd also make sure the t5i is compatible with the camlink as well.
The camlink is designed to turn a cameras with an HDMI out into a webcam! So a webcam wouldn't work with a camlink since it already has a USB connection port.
Hello, I noticed the software you downloaded was different from mine, however I got it from the same place. Is it a difference between software ages, or possibly something else?
It can only be running in one app at a time. What you could do is in OBS enable virtual cam, then use that virtual cam source from OBS as the webcam for Discord and that would work. Just know what you have in OBS on your program canvas is what will be sent to Discord.
Additional point... This Elgato Cam Link 4K is an incredible piece of garbage reliability wise! 3 out of 4 pieces purchased went broke in a space of a month!
