Elgato's latest product is possibly one of their best, and it's not even a capture card. The Elgato Multi-Mount (or Elgato Multi Mount) is a 3-section steel monopod that clamps to a table or desk, perfect for streamers to set up lighting, cameras, microphones, and more. This thing literally did not exist on the market before, as simple as it may seem.

I've got 2 multi-mounts and they are great. I plan on a 3rd one for my webcam. If you need a solid weapon they will be my go to if I have a house invader.

There's also an additional solid straight arm that can be attached to the vertical stand, too. Which you could attach either a 2nd camera to; or attach a microphone.

The rubber grip on my multimount just spins around without gripping to the actual tightening ring. Useless. Cannot even telescope out the lengthening arm because I cannot untighten it.

manfrotto or imoact have existed for i dont know how long, and is mainstream. Impact Adjustable Pole/Manfrotto 122B Adjustable Pole $24 Impact Super Clamp $14 Vello Multi-Function Ball Head $14 I do appreciate that elgato make it an all in one piece of kit but they deffinetly didnt invent the wheel so to speak.

They optimized it for streamers for sure. That super clamp ain't comfortably and cleanly fitting on the edge of a desk up against the wall. I have them and use them religiously, they take up a crapton of space. Like I said, these things existed separately, but combined in this specific way for streamers has not been around.

Actually, they're just being smart to attack a market that isn't aggressive. I'm not sure about the situation in the US, but here in Canada, they are grossly overpriced. I wish someone would actually step in and give them some competition!

@@makerthgr8r519 "non-mechanical keyboard" WITH an entire LCD panel underneath, and amazing custom software integration. One cannot underestimate the value of software and hardware together. You're not paying purely for the hardware. The software isn't a subscription or a licensed thing, so you're paying for a continuously improved upon software that increased the value of the hardware over time. In general, the price of these things is the same as just about any other product of its nature. "convenience products". They exist purely to make things easier or more flexible. Never necessary, but always a big help and a quality of life improvement. And you can't properly put a price on those things.

I bought 2 key lights and put one on a normal light stand and mounted my camera to the desk mount stand. Pretty disappointed with the Elgato Key Light software for both Mac and Android though. I could only get one key light working. I can't control the second one, so it just spits out white light at the default brightness.

That tightening handle looks like it would be better off as a bearing based twisting mechanism like on the Brateck monitor arms. So it didn't stick out. You could get close to corners and not bump into it by accident then. Other than that... Imma get a couple ASAP

This is great, but the problem right now is that to handle all of my gear right now I need 3 of these things. I'd like to see a more elaborate mount system where I could get a triple monitor mount and have 3 arms coming out the top for camera, keylight, and microphone. Bonus points if you could mount a low profile microphone arm that goes under the monitor so that you aren't blocking your screen. YellowTec M!ka fits streamer's needs, but the price they want is ridiculous.

@@EposVox Not sure I follow. The M!ka system seems really flexible to me. Channels down the pole let you mount as many things as you want. Right now I have issues with my monitor arms bumping into my keylight arm and camera tripod. And forget about fitting your studio monitors in there. What if you wanted a system for two people? I don't have space for six mounts.

@@SpeculatorSeth what EposVox said is right, clamps clamps clamps, I have a dual monitor arm that has clamps attached with manfrotto magic arms that stable my cameraand lights, they are not clamped to a desk just the arms themselves with smaller clamps to create a tribrace to steady the camera. Check out bhphotovideo and search for manfrotto or impact brands and for superclamps and magic arms

In order to use it for an iPhone top camera, I need to buy the multi-arm, flex arm kit at least; or I can buy the weighted base and smartphone holder as well. That will run me between $160 and $260 in Canada. That’s expensive and there are other cheaper solutions.

Hey EposVox, I have the Multi-mount setup with a Manfrotto 323 RC2 QR adapter with my EOS R x EF 24-70 ii mounted on top. Even though my table is quite sturdy, the camera shakes quite noticeably when I'm typing. Any suggestions on a makeshift "dampner" or something to address this? thanks in advance

I got to fondle the whole setup at TwitchCon & can 100% confirm it's beefy as heck. This thing is well worth the money, even the Corsair tax. I'm definitely getting one whenever I finally upgrade to a big boy DSLR for my streaming setup.

Have you seen anything about the WebAround green screen? It's designed for fitting on the back of a chair and I've been using it fairly successfully. Would be interested on possibly seeing a review on it.

Yeah I've reached out to them a few times. There's some inherent problems to having the screen be right up against you and not having it lit separately but it's a neat concept for a quick and cheap way to go

I'm really hoping at least someone, if not elgato, is planning on designing some kind of adapter to adapt from the weird, circular dovetail to a decent sized plate to mount a good ball head to. I'd rather not have to unscrew my camera's Arca Swiss plate to mount to the multi mount... I know that I could attach an adapter to the screw and then attach an arca swiss block to the adapter, but I'd rather not have an extra ball mount in the mix.

Just wall anchors. It's rated up to 10 pounds iirc I've got a G7 + Speedbooster + Sigma 18-35 on it, has no issues. Just gotta really crank the tightening knobs

Future you talks about how Elgato has become Apple. I have to agree. $120 to $200 is to basic mic stands as $1k is for a monitor stand. As I watch your videos, which are very good by the way, I realize that Elgato is getting more and more expensive between this video, and the one you just did here in 2020 about their new Ring Light.
