Hey everyone! Hope you're doing well. This is a bit different from my usual content, but I've been planning to expand and include hardware analyses on my channel for a while, including a look at the new gen consoles, and both Nvidia and AMD's new video cards that will drop later this year. However - you can still expect the same regular amount of gaming focused content as well - including upcoming videos on the PC release of Horizon Zero Dawn, and a look at the recently released Skateboarding game "Skater XL" and how it compares to either Session or SKATE (let me know which one you'd be more interested in seeing!)
Out of those 2, I prefer the Elgato Wave 3. However I would recommend the Elgato Wave 1 as it is cheaper and you can do everything you can do on the Wave 3 on the Wave Link software.
Good review, thanks Nick! Might want to throw a title card up to correct the sample rate info at 5:46. 98K doesn't exist. Think you meant 96k. Also, glad you mentioned the Wave 3 is normally $160. I ordered one on Amazon for $350 a couple hours ago so .... I'll be canceling that order.
The only problem with the yeti is when you yell, the viewer hears it in a very loud way where it hurts but with the Wave 3, if you yell in it on its default settings, it's way better. It's what I've noticed personally.
I'd say the Elgato Wave 3 is def. better than the Blue Yeti but not worth the upgrade if you already have a Yeti. But for a beginner Mic. I'd say the Wave is worth it.
Post Malobe they are nothing like each other gameplay wise and have different art styles, the only similarities are that they are in Japan and feature swords
Fantastic video bud, I am a Blue yeti user myself, i love its audio quality and ease of use and i use the same settings are you to be honest and i never really stray from them. I am looking to upgrade to a proper studio quality mic at some point, i know those things are not as easy to set up but the quality is insane and that is what i want for making content
Nicely put together video. Smooth AF and very colourful. I had a Blu Snowball for a while. Really nice, budget mic. Upgraded to a Samson G-Track Pro USB. It's built like a tank and sounds fantastic.
Only the ogs of RU-vid remember the blue snowball and hdpvr days, these kids with there fancy elgato stuff, they don't know the struggle you having input delay via there capture card
9:17 /18 Got me to stop the video, take my headphones off and listen carefully. Then I got up and went to check on the baby that's still sleeping (thank God for that). Then I came back, relistened to the video only to realise that it was your parrot.
Direct comparisons between microphones is something new on your channel and I’m all for it. You are really really entertaining to watch :) Also you should include comparisons between Intel’s and Amd’s cpus (not only the new ones that will be coming, but the ones that already exist too), nvidia’s and Amd’s gpus ( same ) etc
I will be doing hardware comparisons including PC components like GPUs - but only when it's realistic to do so. I don't have easy access to a lot of high end hardware. I'm partnered with AMD currently - and they've been really awesome about hooking me up with their new tech, but any Nvidia/Intel hardware has to come out of pocket from me
I've been through three blue yetis over a period of 3 years because eventually the cable connector seems to break. Great video and I'll be trying the elgato wave 3 next
Thank you for this video. I didn't use it to compare, but rather what to look forward to. I Blue Yeti bit the dust (USB Connection issues - won't connect anymore) and bought the Algato Wave 3 in replacement. Thank you for giving me the run through
For me, the Yeti is the absolute easiest way for my wife to get a quality stereo recording that pans her voice from her guitar a bit, without any tech skills or ancillary gear (you just need a suitable stand to position it right). If it was just for voice, any decent cardioid USB mic would do; and the Elgato looks jiffy.
this is great comparison. Not only did you cater to those that are choosing which one to buy but also if you already have one, whether or not to upgrade. Thank you this clears it up, As a yeti user, i personally don't think i'll notice much of a difference other than missing out on the wave:link software. It's a shame, and i may upgrade in future but... for now i'm happy re-routing using Virtual cables xD
Kinda like the Wave 3 for ya! Your voice sounds so much better through it. That's how I feel anyways (you did ask in the video which we think you should use)
Great comparison. I have ordered the Elgato Wave 3 , as I have a stream deck and like the audio features that come with the Wave 3. Not one for knowing much about audio settings and mixers so I think for basic streamers such as myself, this is a safer choice. They are both so close, I dare not say which is better to be honest. Thank you for the review of these two products. At least I have not ordered a dud.
The Elgato Wave 3 sounds a bit 'muddy' and I would like you to turn down the lower mids, but I think the Elgato sounds a tiny bit better. As in it sounds like it captures "more", but I think I like the less bass profile from the blue yeti.
The thing that sucks though, is the fact that the Wave 3 has been consistently sold out for months. Would love to get my hands on a couple, but wait I must.
I just came here because i ask myself how is blue yeti released in 2009, so I checked, and I am really impressed with that microphone which is from 2009 and still working a great job.
Price also factors in too. In my example the Yeticaster bundle was 299 down from 500 but the wave was 299 down from 330. I have wanted a boom arm for a while and the compass looks decent to me.
I may end up doing something like that. My SteelSeries H headset has been crapping out on me due to the dumb lithium chargeable batteries not even being recognized by the device or charger.
@@Nick930wow nice headset, too bad you have a problem with the battery, I recommended the Logitech G935 amazing head set, I hope you can solve the problem of your headset.
I have a blue yeti and wave 3. While the wave 3 does edge out a bit feature wise with the software, the actual source recording sounds better on the blue yeti. I run my microphones through voicemeeter to tailor the sound to my preferences and I just prefer the overall tonality and clarity with the blue yeti compared to el gato wave 3. I'm not a streamer or content creator though, so those extra features don't add any value for me.
I hate the fact that how underrated this channel is..Ign doing plagiarsm, stealing others content, giving dishonest review and still gets recognition, million subs...
Can we all talk about the fact that the blue yeti over time tends to have a horrific static noise that is audible to people you may be speaking with, it is so loud that you can hear it through their mic. This problem only gets worse over time, I have encountered this myself, and is the reason I am switching to the wave 3. I have heard only good things
I had the same problem. It's actually to do with the knobs on the device getting dirty. It's especially apparently when you change the gain. If you plug in headphones and move the gain knob and it crackles, take apart the device and get some WD-40 in there to displace the crap.
For the Yeti, it's very slight, but it sounds like one is speaking while slightly constricting their airway. Though, it's very clean. The wave3 is fuller and more natural, but The background noise is much fuller as well, and is slightly louder. I think it's a head long race, and the answer of which someone would want would definitely be what is on sale, or if you're picky about someone hearing your PC fan or if your tone is very slightly off.
Hey man I love your videos and the comparisons that you make is Amazing!! ,But when will you make a comparison of GTA 5 and GTA 4 never the less your videos are amazing.
i wouldn't go with any of these. on Amazon theres a mic called the Uhuru UM-900 which is $55. In my opinion it sounds better then both of these. it records at 24 bit, 192000 Hz. It sounds really clean
Huh I’m not familiar with this game, hopefully in the future I’ll pick it up on sale. In all seriousness though this is something I would watch while for comparing devices
Just bought a wave to replace my yeti. Yeti mics have to be the most inconsistent mics. The sheer amount of tinkering ive had to do over the years is crazy. But as much as I hate the yeti I have to admit. Its a good microphone. 90% of my issues are firmware and software. Its a shame really. Because hardware wise I have never known a more durable quality mic for the same price range.
The Blue Yeti gets blown away overall , its not even close - Better Software from Elgato, lighter, more compatible and natural tone instead of a hilarious low end boost from the Yeti.
I bought a blue yeti microphone after all the research and reviews, turns out they were all bought cause I get nothing but complaints about my blue yeti, I have tried allot of tutorials on how to make it sound better, but then no one can hear me. and the software choices are lackluster and usually breaks how other software works and usually messes up my sound.
I think one of the main areas of comparison are the build design and usability. Blue Yeti is really heavy, hard to hang on boom arm and 90% of blue yetis come with a badly machined screw hole and dont work with boom arms. Also the blue yetis plug socket quality is shitty, so is their included cable and both will usually fail in less than 2 years. The wave 3 has a high quality USB-c cable, in a more convenient position (the back, compared to the bottom with the BY)
My probably with the yeti is the sheer amount of pack ground noise pick up. My boyfriend is on his computer about 15 feet away around a corner and it picks up everything no matter what software I use. I just ordered the wave 3 and I hope it changes that a bit
Yeti wins, I want to find a mic that beats it but it has better sound, captures less background noise without having to mess with stuff, I guess you can’t beat the yeti when it comes to plug in and use.
I also use the Yeti Blue and the mute button isnt really working for me as well (mic is just 2 years old). In comparison with the Wave I think the Blue sounds better without the help of an audio interface. I bought it for just 90€ and if the button doesnt stop working I see myself using this mic for at least 3 more years.
I'd really like to have some software tool, like the Wave has, for Blue Yeti. The X version has a lot of tweaks with Logitech G Hub or Blue Companion app via Blue Voice. The regular Yeti does not. There's an alternative for all the other microphones, made by Voicemeter, but imho is clunky to use with virtual cables inputs and so on.
