What a powerful series The Spy was. And it managed to be sympathetic to both sides, even though Eli Cohen and the Israelis were the clear protagonists. Who knew Sacha Baron Cohen could act so well? Eli Cohen has got to be one of the bravest dudes that ever lived. I can't imagine going on for years in that situation. RIP.

While I was watching the show, I became so attached to it that for few days I stopped watching the last episode where he is caught and hanged. I was so tense about it that I felt like by not watching the show I can somehow stop Eli from being caught and hanged. I do not have courage to see him dying.

I knew this story for 2 decades now. my husband has a large literacy of all kind of books about Israel. having a house in Rosh pinna, northern israel is the most beautiful area of the country. I always travel all over the Golan with the most beautiful views. you are 1000% right, I dont know why there is not a single monument in all that area let alone a memorial for Eli COHEN a true hero who sacrificed his life for perfect strangers like me to set a foot in the Golan.
I 've been to Golan Heights way back Nov.2017 for a tour of Israel and have seen some remnants of war the existing bunkers.Its strategical location is an advantage overlooking the surrounding valleys and plains which the Israelis were able to occupied.To Eli Cohen,I heard about his name to be consider a hero for sacrificing himself and not to be forgotten.

He could've postponed it few hours i guess. The power shut off and security measures were occuring every single night at a certain time for nearly a week Eli Cohen has been returned to Damascus. He could've realized this and shifted his code message till later until they're done with the routine signal interference tour.

It's a tragedy really he should of stayed put with his family after many trips to Damascus and refused to go back.
