1970s horror a reaction to Vietnam? The Shining, The Exorcist, Carrie, The Omen were a reaction to Vietnam?

Tobe Hooper and Wes Craven have both spoken about how the grisly, shocking news footage coming back from Vietnam influenced their early films (Texas Chainsaw and Last House, respectively). These were young men watching massacres and bombings and dishonorable behavior to and by Americans, so these themes were injected into their work.

According to Wes Craven, in his interview with Mick Garris, that era was the clashing of cultures, resentment towards the government’s corruption, and because of that, the artistic world (especially with film) was up for grabs.

Jason isn't a good speaker. He comes across as awkward. Eli was selling Jason more than Jason could sell himself.

There are some great inteview with Jason Blum in youtube that are a joy to listen to. This video here was rather early in Blumhouses history, he's much more of a speaking expert nowadays.
