Never before and Never again. My two most favorite pianists. So much talent, so much interplay and listening to each other, so much creativity, all in 6 minutes. I miss you Chick so much. And I adore you and your talent Eliane. What a treasure this recording is. Virtuosity at its finest. Rest In Peace Chick. Play on Eliane, you are such a powerful musician.
I learned to play this song at age 15 when I took a couple of months of jazz lessons. It is still my favorite song ever, and one of the easiest to solo on. I've been playing it now for 65 years.

Made all the more poignant because Chick Corea died that same year, 2021. Wikipedia: Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (June 12, 1941 - February 9, 2021) was an American jazz composer, pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, and occasional percussionist.[2][3] His compositions "Spain", "500 Miles High", "La Fiesta", "Armando's Rhumba", and "Windows" are widely considered jazz standards.[4] As a member of Miles Davis's band in the late 1960s, he participated in the birth of jazz fusion. In the 1970s he formed Return to Forever.[3] Along with McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, and Keith Jarrett, Corea is considered to have been one of the foremost jazz pianists of the post-John Coltrane era.[5] Corea continued to collaborate frequently while exploring different musical styles throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He won 27 Grammy Awards and was nominated more than 70 times for the award. Corea celebrated his 75th birthday in 2016 by playing with more than 20 different groups during a six-week stand at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Greenwich Village, New York City. "I pretty well ignore the numbers that make up 'age'. It seems to be the best way to go. I have always just concentrated on having the most fun I can with the adventure of music."[20] Corea died of a rare form of cancer shortly after his diagnosis. If I had to pick a favorite live concert of any musician, it would be the Chick Corea Akoustic Band in Mannheim, Germany in 1988. I didn't know it was possible for anyone to play with such amazing technique and at the same time, musicality like he could. Eliane Elias is another favorite of mine. I always love to hear her take any performance in a different direction than you expect. I always love how original she is. It's amazing to hear them together. Thank you Eliane for posting this.

Eliane is just a gem. I think she got overshadowed for years by Diana Krall (who I do love, but she isn't the musician that Eliane is) - another beautiful blonde (married to Elvis Costello) who plays the piano in a jazz style and sings - but Eliane is a true jazz musician.
Wonderful stuff. If anything, for me Eliane is the more fluent player of these two remarkable pianists. But hey, they're both way better than me..! What a joy to listen to these guys playing together.
I am so happy you got to do this project with Chick before he got away, and I'm so sorry he left so suddenly. I miss him madly. I'll see you at Catalina in June . . at least once 🙏

Thanks eliane, you are such a great pianist and so underated, well you first are a woman, second you are from brazil, third you are white ... I love so much your tribute to Bill Evans and the you live version of aqua de marcos in Japan was so lyrical and of course your Jazz/Bossa albums. No need to praise Chick Corea i think, i hope his left hand is ok anyway he is so good that he could play with 2 fingers.
Wow!..After all. What is music all about?. Whether we are keyboard players, drummers, bass players, whatever! It's great to hear the sound created with those two 80 foot pianos with all those mikes!!..lol New fan of Miss Elias and sending all my best to Chick.
I saw and listened to this great pianist at an event in a beautiful park of a villa west of Florence, Italy, back in the 90s. Memorable evening, will never forget. He was at his best...like always and today still. Thank You Chick!
