As a Flames fan I'm a little sad, but it was time for Lindy to go. Very impressed with what Vancouver has accomplished this season.

This trade could really go any way, could be a win/win, could be lopsided in either team's favor. As a Canucks fan I'm a little upset that we paid so much given how poorly Lindholm has played this season but there's also the chance that none of these assets amount to anything, as long as the Canucks don't overpay Lindholm on an extension this looks like a W for VAN.

I feel like they just need a good centre to play with Kuzzy (as I am not ready to give up on him yet) so Pettersson can be move up to the first line. Pettey in the first line is so much better than Sutter on it.

I’m sad to see Kuzmenko go, great personality and a really skilled forward. Hope Calgary takes good care of him. Brzustewicz is really good but how much does that translate to the NHL level. Jurmo has size but at this point it’s looking like he’s a bottom pairing guy. The 1st round pick is going to be late anyways, and that 4th round pick seems like a sweetener. Canucks have insane center depth now with the addition of Lindholm and their top 6 is looking even better.

As a Canucks fan I hope Kuzy turns it around. I'm going to miss him. Had fun watching him as a rookie. I hope Lindholm can turn it around too. Hope wins for both teams!! I like all Canadian teams so it doesn't bother me.

Perfect pickup for Vancouver. Defense from the offence is what they needed. Solid return for Calgary, solid prospect, the first rounder is nice for a rebuilding team, and kuzy is having a rough year but is honestly a really good player.

Expensive rental. I don't think rentals work anymore like it did 10 years ago... the league is more young then it is old... I say 10% of nhl players play top minutes over the age of 35. Carter,Parise,Gio,Suter and many more can't log in top minutes due to the speed of the game. Back in the day it was slower and more physical. Look at a Rick Nash. Had 10-15 good seasons but then that's it. Even a Kessel...no more selenes jagrs chelios due to speed of the game. This being said... Big W for Cgy. Kuzmenko can easily give u 20G. Great return. But of course Vancounver got their piece for a cup run. Another weapon on already stacked Van that finnaly is clicking is scary. Especially in a rather weak Pacific Divison, I can see them easily making the confrence finals...

Excited as a Flames fan as this means that we are FINALLY going in SOME direction!! I feel like that's all most of us fans wanted was a direction and a plan. We are getting younger and I'm so hype to see what happens next!

If kuzmenko can bounce back i think this can be great value for calgary. Last year kuzmemko coulda probably got a 1st+ if he was traded. If he can reclaim anywhere close to last years game, might even end up looking like a steal for flames.

I think its steep to give up both prospects. One of them and price would be fine. I think nucks might regret trading both of them in the future. But getting Lindholm should make them more complete up front and thats not a bad thing. Both teams are winners here imo.

Man I know the Canucks are going for it but 2 prospects and 2 draft picks on top of Kuzmenko? I understand a 1st is a given and the 4th is a sweetener but I would have liked to have seen them keep Hunter Brz. It's a bit steep but I guess we'll see what happens come playoff time.

1. I feel like this was a little much for a rental guy. He’s a really good 2-way 1/2C, combining him with fellow Swede/Elias projects to be really good. 2. How many more Swedes do we need? Lindholm, Petey(x2), Hoglander, Aman, Willander, Lekkerimakki, Karlsson. 3. If we do get Chris Tanev, idk what I’d want Allvin to give up to get him, even though I really want a Tanev/Vancouver reunion.

I love the Canucks selling high on Brzustewicz, he's having a great year in the OHL but with Hughes, Hronek as the top guys it looked like a long shot for Brzustewicz to get a meaningful spot as an offensive defenseman. I compare this to Jack Rathbone who was essentially blocked by being a lesser version of Quinn Hughes. Another thing to look at is how the Canucks are constructing the depth part of their D-Core with big blueliners. Tyler Myers at 6'8, Nakita Zadorov at 6'6, Carson Soucy at 6'5, Noah Juulsen at 6'2, Ian Cole at 6'1 (Listed at 225 lbs). With their top 2 Defensman Prospects being Tom Willander at 6'1 and Elias Pettersson at 6'4, both showed at the World Juniors they aren't afraid to play a physical game. Brzustewicz likely benefits from going to Calgary where he might be able to establish himself as their Offensive Defenseman of the future It sucks Kuzmenko is on the way out because he was electrifying and always seemed to have a smile and be loving life but since he took a puck in the face earlier this season he's looked gun shy and Tocchet simply won't tolerate that on his team so it was best for Kuzmenko to get a fresh start with a team that doesn't have as much expectation at this point in the Season. Should Kuzmenko find it again he could be a valuable commodity at next year's deadline as well. Joni Jurmo seems like someone the Flames wanted to take a crack at developing seeing as he has been struggling over in Finland and probably didn't have a lot of trade value If the Canucks like Lindholm and resign him to a decent contract it'll make the 1st round pick easier to justify losing. The 4th round pick is magic beans, it's on Calgary to hit with that pick and if they do then good on them Craig Conroy has done well to this point with not having to retain any salary with the trades he's made, if he plays his cards right he might have a slam dunk of a trade deadline ahead of him whether that's trading out Hanafin and Tanev with retaining significant salary or whether it's being a 3rd team retaining salary in another large move and getting additional assets out of it.

Lotto Line will be kept together with Lindholm at 2C. Great fit for the Canucks, but that's a steep price to pay. Kuzy is not a huge loss but Brzustewicz is good enough that I know about him without even being a Canucks fan

Calgary fan here. Really happy about this return. Seeing this trade just made me reminisce about how successful Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Lindholm were just a few years ago… seemed like they were all gonna be Flames for life and this amazing BOA was set to come back. Wished things happened differently but, happy to see Lindy on a good team and a win trade for the Flames, we needed one after the last few years 😂

Canucks fan here: sad to see Kuz and Brzustewicz go but I love what Lindholm brings to the team. Not too worried about the picks. If the Canucks are somehow able to re-sign Lindholm at a reasonable price I’d call it a win.

Kuzmenko is one of a kind. Really sad to see him go. He will bounce back.

They get to experiment with line combos in a really interesting way and should do so. I’m assuming they’ll play the Petey and Lindholm together, mostly with Mikheyev. If they’re playing shutdown maybe have Lindholm on the wing on his strong side and if chasing goals put Petey on the wing and have him worry less about defence? If running the Lotto Line I’d think a Lindholm centred line could be a viable match-up line, just as the Joshua-Blueger-Garland line already is. In a game with no penalties being called you could have Pettersson, Miller, Lindholm and Blueger lines all rolling out on quick shifts to utterly stifle the opposition. It honestly adds a ton of combination flexibility.

If the Canucks haven’t worked some agreed terms for a future contract extension with Lindholm prior to the signing, then they definitely paid too much. As much as Kuzmenko has struggled this year, if he stays healthy he will bounce back. I certainly hope so. Lest we forget the dumpster fire of Miller’s last season, and look at him now. Confidence and team chemistry can be elusive qualities. Many a GM has looked like a genius or a fool trying to guess what the future holds. Canucks management has been on a roll so far this year. Hopefully they will be vindicated. It’s a fair point about Pettersson’s struggles with face offs. It’s hardly surprising when you use such a long stick, and a lower flex to get that whip in his shot. I am surprised he can win any draws like that.

The worst case scenario for Vancouver is that if Lindholm doesnt pan out and Vancouver walks away from him, between him and Tyler Myers gone, thats over 10 million dollars in cap space free.

Honestly good trade for both teams, it will obviously be worth it if the canucks make the conference final but if they don’t it’s kind of a haul for Calgary, nonetheless they clear up cap space to sign a left winger that fits better in free agency

Canucks have 6 players that can crack the roster in a year or 2 so I'm not too upset about the lost in draft picks. Losing hunter however hurts.

It`s expensive, but Lindholm makes the Nucks so much stronger for the playoffs. He and Miller on center, Pettersson and Mikheyev on the wings, Boeser and Suter on the other pair, that`s a dangerous top 6. They have a 3rd line and the defense, Hughes & Hronek is an ideal pair, a bit small and light but the 2nd and 3rd pair level that out. Together with Demko, well build. For the Flames the return is ideal, Kuzmenko needed a change, he`s under contract next year and if the retool at the Flames doesn`t work out, they can ship him on the next deadline for assets. On top 2 prospects and a 1st, which will be late. That`s a lot of return for a guy that doesn`t have his best year.

i actually really like this trade as a canucks fan. It works for both teams, calgary gets a guy who you can pair with huberdeau and picks. The canucks get center depth and like you said petey not great with face offs so it’s gonna allow him to go out to the wing it’s a fantastic fit. I’m also really really really hoping we can get tanev and a bonus we get rid of kuzmenko contact! Also love the videos keep killing it!! 🙂
