Elica, thank you and Yasmine from the bottom of my heart. I'm Israeli and my father's family are Jerusalemites for 500 years and my mother's family are Iraqi Jewish refugees. I have spent the past few weeks dismayed at watching the streets and colleges seemingly repeat the mistakes of Iran and Iraq. My mother survived the Farhud, and I know so many who survived the Revolution. Iran was the savior of Iraqi Jews fleeing for their lives, once. We deserve so much better than all of this. When listening to this I was reminded of some Native American activists siding with Hamas, calling them freedom fighters and saying how those particular people would like to do the same thing as Hamas to other Americans. I have always fully supported Native American rights and all rights for all people. Being American myself who has mixed ancestry as most Americans do, some of my ancestors being indigenous, and my other Western European ancestors being here for centuries, I was deeply shocked. I want rights for all people, not d@ath to America and not d@ath to Israel. I have always supported woman life freedom since it started. By definition that means it is IMPOSSIBLE for EVERY word to be true. NOT POSSIBLE AT ALL. I’m sure you are likely a great and well meaning person but if you are honest with yourself you will realise you are strongly driven / biased to WANT to believe the Bible is the word of God, or inspired word. And having to choose if what I say is worth the risk. Increasingly I do speak out. It's only last week that I realised criticising Islam is not allowed. I somehow missed that! All I said was that if criticising Christianity is free game, then Islam should also be looked at. I was made to feel like a terrible person so I did what I always do and have been trying to inform myself to form my own opinion that I can stand behind and stand up for. This podcast and particularly this talk have helped a lot. I will start speaking out now and I will refer people to both of you if I can convince anyone to dig beyond the current narrative. I live in New Zealand, but grew up in the Netherlands and have always known people who fled from Iran. I know Iranians p, Palestinians, Lebanese and Egyptians who have achieved asylum and can speak. These young women especially, on the campuses, they are clueless. I've had friends who went through some of the horrors of Iranian prison in the 90s. That people are still going through such things just tears my heart apart even more. Your work is important and you are amazing. Of course, also very brave. This world is lucky to have you in it.

Great guest, thank you! I along with my mother escaped Iran (with great difficulty - many failed attempts) during the Iranian revolution, to the UK. As a 9 year old I was very traumatised by the scenes I witnessed on the streets of Tehran prior and during the revolution, that trauma lives within me today, of course I was never able to deal with it fully. Not only that, but the break up of family was very difficult, especially at such a young age - my father was a physician and remained in Tehran to work. Other family members fled to various parts of the world. I cannot believe and never would have thought that what we escaped with great difficulty all those years ago and left behind I am now witnessing again on the streets of London and in US. My family were supporters of the Shah and although we had a few close encounters with the Islamists/revolutionaries, none of us ended up in prison or deceased thankfully. I do recall the paranoia of the Iranian community in the UK, I witnessed it amongst friends and family - there was always the fear and concern that there may be an Iranian Islamic spy/informant amongst us. We always had to be careful what we said and did in front of others, especially when discussing the situation in Iran at the time! These leftist lunatics out there on the streets of the West don’t know anything about the Middle East and they never will, but sadly they think they know it all 🤦🏽♀️
