😂 Sorry. Just noticed I wasn't subscribed. I've watched your videos since the first week I started playing and you're the best coach I could ask for. Thanks for all the great tips and content. I played in the testing grounds a few days, my friends jump in and destroy me for laughs. 3months non-gamer vs OG sweats We all have fun. Fastest way to learn is strong competition. Amazing PvP Maps Toby, thanks! And practicing Aim briefly before matches helps ME a lot. Especially for the new sniper meta (as you demonstrated in the video), I missed a map with moving objects/ememies, so I made my own: 5011-9885-6831 Do you also usually do a 5-20min aim warmup too or are you straight jumping into 1v1s? Would be cool if you'd check out my map in private. 😊

I don’t usually comment on videos in general…but this is pure truth. As a surgeon, these are true lessons to help not only in FN, but all aspects of life. “Let the program run” is a great mantra whether it is FN, job interviews, dating, or whatever gets you stressed out. Great job, Toby.

I’ve been searching for a video about this for forever and FINALLY!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! One tip that I found super helpful in controlling my anxiety, is turning off my spectator count. I noticed that my anxiety skyrocketed when I saw how many people were watching me…turning that off made a massive difference.

Took Toby's advice today in BR and focused on the opponent and not my crosshairs and it felt superhuman. Got the most kills I've had since I started in early December '23. Great resource for Fortnite!

I trained in MMA and Brazilian jujitsu and wrestling for two decades. During competition when you do it enough times you learn how to control your reactions to your emotions. Plenty of times when I was competing I felt extremely calm even though you are in a fight. I use this in FN and in life. Let the program do the work. And get comfortable in combat.

I've always had a lot of respect for people that fight for the sport. It takes a lot of courage. I'm 39 now, but I used to dream of being good martial arts and fighting. Now I just lift weights and get strength to help off set my lack of trained fighting skills unfortunately, Lol. I bet someone with 20 years of experience like you could handle pretty much any average man if you had to defend yourself on the streets.

As a 16 yr military vet that has seen combat in real life, this video is FACTS people. Something I need to get better at as well, but this isn’t a gimmick. It’s exactly why, when the military isn’t at war, we are constantly training and exercising. So, when that time comes, everything is second nature and muscle memory.

Toby your advice is golden! I’m a 75 yr old and for a long time I felt overpowered by hot young players (when you kill me guys you’re killing a great grandmother - game name Jezzybel) but I stopped caring so much and even started to laugh at some battle situations. Now it’s more fun 😉

Excellent video, Toby! Just want to expand on the part about "it's just a game." When it comes down to it, our lives are short and moving so fast. I know that I can get wrapped in something that seems insurmountable in the moment. A few weeks, maybe even days later, it's no longer even in the back of my mind. In the same way, I take my losses, replay the tape and try to learn from them (can see my humbling attempt at a tournament on my channel!). If I find myself repeating the mistake, I initially get frustrated, but then find a place to do the reps. And also remind myself that Fortnite, and life itself, is a game. Play it to have fun and don't take it seriously. No one gets out alive :D

The two things I struggle with the most is "dropping hot", I avoid all named/medallion POI's because when it feels like there is 10 other people around me it freaks me out. And the other is, poor weapon switching, even though I keep my loadout the same (or close, depending on the game), it feels like in the heat of the moment i forget which slot "x" weapon/item is on

I played 43 games of zero build and finally got a Victory Royale (a couple 2nd&3rd places along the way). I usually get about 7-12 elims and I find myself panicking in fights especially when the enemy has a nice skin and they’re using things like the grapple. I’m still learning what the best places are to drop and attarchments to run n the best guns and your videos really help. This is a dope vid and some great advice for me personally. Hope I can get my 2nd victory Royale soon😂

I find having a healthy positive balanced lifestyle (as previously mentioned by Toby) really helps and reflects in how I play. If I’ve done my chores and helped those I’m responsible for and feel positive and confident in myself and my personal life then this reflects in my gaming life. The 2 are of course linked. Getting enough sleep, eating healthier, getting out for walks etc. ❤

I feel like this is an answer to a recent chat in Discord, your addressing this in a video is awesome, because not everyone pays attention to the chat. The thing that is most important is confidence mixed with some fear. I use my anxiety to keep my attention on environment so I know my escapes if I need them. And practice does build confidence, you learn by dying. Because you get to see what went wrong. But don’t get over confident, you can be confident and make dumb decisions. And you can be anxious and make smart ones.

Great vid as always by the master, I've found just switching off the audio and practicing gun fights without the drama sound effects bring to Fortnite close quarters battles is a way to learn to stay calm during heated moments. So what you get killed but you'll be surprised how calm gun fights become without the distraction of audio! Find your zen and bring back the noise!

Just like every historical war or battle, one big factor in winning for me is play and start the match accepting you’ll most likely be killed early on. Or atleast be unable to hit #1. Get use to that mind set of being okay with loosing. And once you do that, you’ll play smooth and calm cause if you do die it’s almost expected and when you win it makes those W’s all the more worth it.

I do agree with practicing in similar situations to actual gameplay. One of the reasons I was turned off from the zero build pit map this season was it just feels completely different from real matches. Nothing looks the same, the buildings are completely different, you can't destroy anything, you have literal wall hacks. I just didn't feel like it was a good practice area for me and left.

Are the Shinobi FFA and Zero Build Zone Wars maps populated enough for regular practice? Personally, I strongly dislike (to put it nicely) the Zero Build Pit map, not only because of the permanent wall hacks everyone has, but also because everything eventually devolves into constant 50-50s with the Tactical Shotgun. Or maybe it's just my luck, I don't know.

I guess I am lucky that when I started playing, I really panic with I get shot at. My reaction to getting shoot is usually, "Who is shooting at me? Where are they?" And start shooting back. It did cause problems with one of my friends when we play duos together. She gets shoot at, she starts panicking and starting running. I get shoot at, I turn around to shot back. It meant that I am in a 1 v 2 and get knock and she tries to revive me. Using meaning I am waiting for her. I agree with all of your advice. I practice quite a bit in the zero build maps. I am genuinely confident in fighting. But as for positive thinking, Yea, sorry. It does sound like New Age BS woo speak for me. I am sure it is accurate. But my diseased brain will say "I suck I suck I suck." Sure, there are times I push when I shouldn't. Or I should have been more discipline in my engagements. But when I lost just because of skillz, I hate myself. I am angry at myself. I rip apart jackets and hats I have. And slap the sides of my head. I get really frustrated at myself for losing in Fortnite. I have just accept that is my reality. I will forever hate myself for losing fights in Fortnite and sucking. The advice in your video is great though. I will share it with my friends.
