OMG girl, look at you handling those tools like a boss. To anyone who thinks a woman can't have handyman skills they need to check you out. Great video. Thanks for posting.
After going through a total drought and excessive heat here in Texas this year, I decided to take out my ivy, which was struggling and looking rather sad, and I replaced it with Canadian gravel which is a nice mix of grey, tan, brown stones. I placed two huge terracotta planters on the gravel with caladiums and ferns and I love it. So easy to blow leaves off the gravel. It has a nice , neat appearance and I'm saving time and energy and not wasting water, watering an entire bed of ivy which isn't really doing anything in this heat. I'm going more and more into Xeriscaping because of the climate changes. I rather have drinking water than trying to keep grass and ground covers alive in extreme weather conditions. You did a great job !!!
Gravel has a way of traveling into places you don’t want it. A better material is compacted double-cut wood mulch. Doesn’t need foot pavers, doesn’t move, and can be tilled into the ground if you change your mind about the path’s location.
Hey Chelsea, I really like how you did this, your voice is so soothing and I like the way you put your videos together, its non intimidating and simple. Thanks.
Thank you! I’m wanting to something similar using paver bricks for boundary. Now I’m confident to move forward without all the extra steps of base, sand etc. I’m using river gravel
Hi! I’m a new subscriber! I am so like you, and I checked your videos and I want to watch all of them! Thank you for showing that women can do these things!
Doing this tomorrow. But it's a lot smaller project then seen here.. thanks for the tips. First time going to be doing this.. seems easy enough. And you gave me ideas I didn't think about. Thanks
Hi Chelsea I have this great big beautiful back yard only thing I have areas that the grass doesn’t grow that good you gave me a great idea im gonna put either white gravel or white rocks in the areas that the grass doesn’t grow One question what kind of border do i put down to separate the rocks or gravel from the grass. Thank you so much Chelsea
This would be great down the pathway beside my house. Grass just doesn't grow well there. And I hate edging. I have an edger, but I hate it. Love the big stones to walk on. I think I could do that myself. I've been very handy in the past, but I'm getting older and can't toss around river rock stones.
Hi. I appreciate your video. I am wanting to make a gravel walkway in my home. I am so encouraged now that I have seen your video. What kind of material is around and under your flowers?
This is great, however the cats flock to my gravel areas to use them as a toilet. I'm changing to slate gradually as they don't like the bigger stones. I'm also going to put my stepping stones closer, as I think a person with ten foot legs put them down, so watching how easy it is to lift them out was good.
This is a diy trap. Looks good at first but will fall apart quickly. The wood touching the ground will rot out, the weeds will grow through the landscape fabric in 2-3 years, and there’s no fill to hold the gravel in place. Use good metal trim, avoid landscape fabric like the plague, sweep fill material into the gravel and make sure to compact to hold in place.
Chelsea- just caught your video here and subscribed. My wife and I adore you and your entire family (been watching Danny for decades now!). You all are my main go to for home improvement tips and ideas. All the best from California!
Hate to hear that! Possible you used too much gravel and weeds are finding their way to dirt in the gravel? I've never had major issues in the 10 years I've had a gravel driveway. Just a few weeds popping up here and there.
That's a really good, fair play, looks smart. And like you said, you can just leave it, maintenance free like, win win 👍 Oh yeah, what was that green outlet next to one of the slabs, to turn the water off?
All Stores Please Lower the price of all Military and Local for all Brands of Gravel Products and Accessories and Production Cost Now That's too much $$ The Whole World Now 🙏🙏🙏
I have most of those same EXACT tools you use, down to the rubber green on the half moon edger lol! Except that saw thing you used to cut the wood. What is that?
I am looking to do something similar to put patio stones on which i can put the storage shed ... any issues with water accumulating and not draining away ?
The idea is good, just saw obviously old but it always works. Only I don't like that wooden boundary. Much better to use more designed edge, by using bricks for borders, better if of ground color..it will surely be more resistant, and nicer ro see! Believe me!! 👍
Hi there I have a question please… I just planted a myrtle tree and been in the ground for 2 weeks and decided to move it should I be feeding it something? I don’t want it to die
You don't need to fertilize because you moved it, but since it's a new tree! I like the 'Grower's Special' you can get at local nurseries or at this affiliate link: amzn.to/3NhbHPp
That will do the trick and kill the grass! In my case I wanted to remove the grass so the new area would be the same height as my existing driveway area! ~Chelsea
Hi can you tell what is the name of that product you are using to cut the grass sod edge .. I see it says Ryobi company but can you specify model or exact product because I need to cut my grass sod as it is very firm n ground and not easily coming out @Checking In With Chelsea

Hi, Do I need a permit for stepping stone and gravel pathway in my backyard? N.B. If its already done what should I do since the city has to come in the future for a gazebo inspection?
Dear Check Chelsea: Good Video. Question: At 3:20 minutes: Is it possible to put loose gravel on this pathway without the chunks of stone? Will it be good to walk upon as a house entry path?
Hi Chelsea I used salt pepper too. If you would like Ill send some pictures to you of it. Need an general email address. Not asking for a personal one. I did my project 2 years ago and completed the back yard a month ago. Salt and pepper rock is really pretty looking when it rains. Its a bit spendy but worth it. Imo.
