So timely, just had a game today. Good tips, can you do a video on field nerves? I get in my head and nervous in the field, almost like stage fright. I play slow pitch softball.
I coach softball at an age group which is really instrumental in their development. I enjoy that part of coaching more than anything is seeing kids develop, gain confidence, and become better… Seeing that “lightbulb turn on” moment for lack of a better term is incredible. Incredible for the player but also as a coach where you know your having an impact on a kid who is really in tune. It’s tough sometimes with so many “distractions” kids deal with on a daily basis. Anyways, your videos and philosophies have been so important in my coaching to these kids which in turn is impacting them and their lives in a positive way. Thanks you Matt! 🙏
I have 2 girls playing softball, they are both great athletics, but they gets sooo nervous up at bat - I keep telling them its in their heads, mind over matter. The days they do great first time at bat, they hit amazing all game, homeruns etc but if they strike out first time....it effects them every time at the bat in that game. I know its all in their head and I didn't know how to explain it but you gave me some great talking points to go over with them. Thank you!!
Matt, thanks for these videos. I coach girls 12u and most of the time the reason they struggle is because of nerves. We see it all the time. Great practice hitters, hesitant game hitters.
Awesome advice, I've played softball for 3 years ago and I'm getting back into it and I've practiced and practiced ( obviously taking needed breaks , doing meditation, and working out) And making awesome friends and being an awesome teammate we play independent softball and casual softball just to unwind I absolutely love softball it's an amazing sport.
When Jose Bautista hit his bat-flip HR vs. Sam Dyson - he said to himself: '"See the ball up.. see the ball up" because knowing Dyson was a sinkerball pitcher, lay-off anything down lower... but seeing it up... BAM!
