I love that they casted a completely normal looking woman to play Offred. She's not model-height or Hollywood-thin; just an average American woman with superb acting skills. And she looks beautiful.

She did an AMAZING job in this show. Her acting is over the top. I tried to make my mum watch it. But she said it was too realistic and tough. Anyway I love it. It's dark and chilling. I even started reading the book.

alfred delatourquipenche I doubt it. the reason we like it is a story of fight for freedom from oppression. almost a dark thriller. we want to know how she escapes.
Ohh my god! it's the same thing here. Everything in the series is like a little explosive thing in my heart. Can't wait for the new season. anyday now!
Its not gory per se, no exploding guts or splattered brains, but the theme is very dark. There's blood, corpses, dying, and rape though. I highly recommend trying at least the first episode. It touches on the dark side of humanity (or lack there of) and gives you a glimpse of how deep our darkness can really go. Whats terrifying is that there is truth to this fiction. There are places where darkness like this persists. They really did good by Margaret Atwood.
@@nicole3534 She did say she is a scientologist, however her beliefs are not completely in line with the rest of the cult. In fact, her beliefs are like really different, so that's that.

i don't understand why people hate this angel. i think when we don't like someone we need a reason more than just omg she's that thing. but look at her, she's so special and so funny, so pretty. she's like... sunshine. she's pure light and radiance. I love this girl SO MUCH
The Handmaid's Tale is one of the best shows I've ever seen in my whole lifetime. It is extremely relevant, surreal, well-crafted and multilayered. You feel like you're a part of the character's world and so deeply invested in her getting out. If you're a woman, you especially MUST see this show...they touch on a lot of things we experience by society on a multitude of levels.
Since I watched a few clips from the Handmaid's Tale here on RU-vid, I was amazed by the extraordinary talent of Elisabeth Moss!!! In my opinion she's one of the best actresses in the world 👏
I don't care about her religious beliefs whether she's a Scientologist or not.I just know she is super talented and an amazing actress..I luv her and all of her shows(Mad men,Top of the lake and the Handmaids Tale)💖💖
As a certified atheist, I can testify that Scientology is ridiculous, frightening and amusing in roughly equal proportions to ____ (fill in blank with your particular religious creed).
I don't care which cult she follows. Anyone basing their life on fictional stories, and imaginary friends, is confused. Still might be a good actor, though.
Case in point- who the hell wakes up in the morning and says, “I ‘m gonna put on a sweater that can’t decide whether or not it’s houndstooth or argyle and pair it with a 1973 era Jack in the Box counter girl skirt” ? That’s a Greta Gerwig move ( love her, too.)
They have mentioned it for the first season interviews at this point there isn't many people who don't know. She was also put in the first season as an aunt at the red center. She slapped Offred (Elizabeth Moss) for not blaming ofwarren for her own rape.
We read the book (A Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood), in college here in Canada and I found it so disturbing. I cannot see myself wanting to watch this knowing what the atmosphere of the book made me feel. Provides food for thought though, which is always a plus :)
Nat Diaz totally understand that, I was the same when I had to read The Kite Runner for college, put me off seeing the film, and now it's also on stage!
I've read both The Kite Runner and A Handmaid's Tale but there's something that broke my heart even more than those two. A Japanese animation movie titled Grave of Fireflies by studio Ghibli. I highly recommend it but I've only seen it once. It's not gory and has no sex, heck its a PG-13 movie or something. But seeing it once was enough to burn the message into my soul.
They nailed it, they really did. It's SO good, that it's awful. You owe it to yourself to watch a few clips of the show here on YT, just to see how well they captured the oppressive, claustrophobic atmosphere of the book. It's an incredible work of cinematic art...
They have completely nailed the book. Plus the second series where the book didn't go is also so emotional and I'm finding it incredible but hard. I'm in tears most weeks 😐
I felt nauseous after watching the first episode because of that "scene" but now I'm up to date and it is literally one of the best tv shows I've ever seen.
Mariella I watch the handmaid 1and 2 I'm waiting for 3 it saids Wednesday but when I'm so hooked my daughter introduce me to it I told another daughter and friends about now we are all hook can't find date for #3 do you know when???
I’m soo glad they made handmaids tail a show Bc I was one of the few who read this book in middle school & I loved it ! It got me into reading more after that 😄

I watched all 3 seasons in 3 days! I loved it and thought it was jaw dropping! I barely got Hulu and this was the first show I was recommended. Can’t wait for season 4!
she believes in the same things her character is fighting against in the film.... it's so confusing! I have had a close encounter with this sect, yes this is what this is, and man is it scary from up close!
OH - Handmaid's Tale is so dark - i need to brace myself before watching it, and the whole day i'm so upset ... :'( But i still need to watch it, i hope they make the show better than Season 1 ... i'm looking forward to it,
Obsessed with Her! Loved her as Peggy Olson (which btw could be an AMAZING spin off In itself from Mad Men) and now Handmaid Tales. Loved season 1, season 2 is OMG even more insanely addicting. Waiting by each Wednesday watching on #HULU . Love you E Moss!!! June is my spirit animal! 😉❤️
