It is so fascinating. This park has 5 operating coaster, a drop tower, and a wind seeker. These are things people 200 years ago would have stood in awe of, barely able to comprehend the physics of how this could work. And Taylor's like... Yeah, there was nothing special. (Which I agree with, still, just a fun thought)

It's too bad you missed out on Sidewinder. It is the best ride in the park! The airtime is great and it's a good ride overall.

elitch's denver is badass! you also have to remember they had to move the park about 20 years ago, but the wooden coaster is the original coaster from like 100 years ago and is scary badass

The news is that this park is being moved to the outskirts of Denver near the Airport and being replaced with an urban development project with high-rise apartments and such. I'm excited for that because then they could really expand and make some killer coasters. Colorado suffers greatly from it's lack of coasters, and it makes me sad. After going to Magic Mountain years ago, then going to Elitch Gardens (pronounced EE-litch by the way :P) after; it left much to be desired. Honestly the water park is much more fun than the regular park.

Nice review! The Arrow shuttle loop does look like the best ride in Elitch Gardens. :)

The airtime on Arrow Shuttle Loops is so whack it's great

I was there last year, wasn't expecting much but was still disappointed. The only ride I was wanting to ride (Twister II) was closed, the drop tower was closed, and I waited 30 minutes to ride an SLC. I had multiple people cut in line and saw many people walking is areas that we're clearly marked not to do so and none of the workers were doing anything about it. overall I wouldn't go back unless they RMC'd Twister II and I was already in Denver. I feel kinda bad for knocking the park so much, but it deserves it.

I think that you should post what park you are going to next using the community feature.

This is one of those parks that I think I"ll have a hard time convincing anyone to go to with me.

It's sad to see such an awesome amusement park like Elitch Gardens to go downhill like this because when I went when I was a teenager it was awesome. I had so much fun back then.

All I can think when going to elitch is all the open land near the airport. The planes may be a problem but put one 10 miles away and you could get a really good park. The closer you go to Kansas the better. I would say the max distance from Denver would be 40 miles. Make it happen Cedar Fair! Or Six Flags... Either works.

That park is definitely in need of more roller coasters!

This is my home park and I wish that Twister Two got the RMC treatment, but this park rarely does any renovations and seems to not want to put much money into keeping the park interesting.

i miss when i was a little kid and this place seemed like the best park ever

Colorado native here. And, yeah Elitch's (Pronounce E-Litch) aka Elitch Gardens isint great. At least not currently. It was in a previous location that had 2 amazing wooden coasters the Mister Twister (Twister II's predecessor) a 96-foot-tall John C. Allen wooden twister coaster built in 1964 and my personal favorite The Wildcat a classic wooden out-and-back coaster designed by Herbert Schmeck wooden out-and-back coaster. Sadly the park in its original location closed in 1995 after 105 years of operation to move for reasons unknown to me I was only 12 at the time. The new park opened in its current location and brought the Sidewinder (the launched shuttle loop mentioned in the video) that was originally a coaster from another park ( Magic Springs and Crystal Falls Them Park in hot Springs Arkansas) The Rolling Thunder was renamed upon its sale to Elitch gardens in 1990. It is currently one of only 4 Arrow Dynamic LSLs still in operation.

I would definitely love for Elitch Gardens to rmc twister II. My gp family wants to go to Colorado really badly so I’m probably going to this park in the near future. This is a great review!

I just went the other day. No, the park hasn't been forced to close/move yet, although there's talk of shifting everything to Aurora in the next few years. I'd agree with your assessment of the coaster collection. The SLC and Boomerang clones are a bit smoother than the ones at, say, a Six Flags park, and it's clear the owners and staff have made taking care of their rides a high priority. (Sidewinder was closed, but at this point, Arrow shuttle loops are really finicky). Twister II is now Twister III-- there's new theming, and the trains have a lot more cushion to them (necessary with an older wooden coaster with this many turns), but yeah, I think when/if the park moves the management would be wise to call RMC and see about an overhaul. It needs a stand-out attraction, which it can't really fit in its current plot of land, and a great hybrid coaster would fit the bill, especially since the closest hybrid is probably Outlaw Run in Silver Dollar City, a full day's drive away. I was pleasantly surprised by some stuff, though! The food, while not up to the quality of someplace like Silver Dollar City, is a cut above your typical Six Flags/SeaWorld fare, the park was clean and well-staffed, there were plenty of restrooms and water fountains (although a few of them needed fixing), and there was a good variety of food/beverages on offer. I also saw how safety-conscious they were. I got there right as the park opened and watched as they did the final test run of the Half Pipe with an employee, then went over a checklist, and got that checklist signed off by a manager. There was also an issue with the Ferris wheel, where too many of the riders were small children and the weight sensors were thrown off. A mechanic was there within about a minute and a half, and they turned the wheel the opposite direction to let off a kid who was feeling queasy. Is it a world-class theme park? No, it's more an attraction for Denverites, but considering the dearth of good amusement parks between Texas and California, it's still a solid way to spend a day.

I think that if they get rid of about half of the picnic pavilions they could get a nice spinning coaster. An rmc Twister would be amazing. This is unlikely but if they were to do a re track of mind eraser like Great Nor'easter that would be awesome

I live in the area, and it's pretty much the best experience I'm gonna get, so better than none, right? This park is fine in general, but not better than Cedar Point. I plan to visit Cedar Point as soon as I can... Also you need to ride the aerodynamics coaster, it's really good, you get lots of air

I went today and omg it was soooo fulll but really fun! I recommend going!

The *original* Elitch Gardens was a nice place with two classic PTC woodies, Mister Twister and a Wildcat, that were just left to rot when the park moved (and torn down a little later). Mister Twister was the first big coaster I ever rode, and I remember it as a terrifying ride. I haven't ridden Twister II but most people seem to think it isn't anywhere near as good as the old one.

Sidewinder is definitely the best in the park; the airtime is amazing. And you are right, Twister II would be an amazing RMC.

Interesting that you went last September and it was down. I think I recall reading that Elitch Gardens bought the original prototype model for parts. It was SBNO at a defunct park in Indiana. Enthusiast Sean Flaharty recently posted a trip to Elitch Gardens in his massivlog in which he rode it. So in any event as you say, if your in the area, it may be worth the trip for a waning credit.

It’s a shame this park moved from its old location. It was a historic park and, supposedly, a beautiful park.

I agree that Glenwood caverns park is better as far as the excitement goes. But elitches has it's perks and the water park side is pretty awesome too.

Spot on bro. Let's be honest though, it sucks... I hate this being our home park. Colorado deserves better. Love your reviews man. Dollywood is next on our list. We've done 6 theme parks in the last 2 years.

When you go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach with Koaster Kids make sure to ride their Arrow Shuttle Loop, which are actually pretty rare. only 3 are operating worldwide.

i noticed in the coaster community, the 3 most disliked big parks are Elitch Gardens,Great Escape,and Michigan Adventures.i never been to any of the 3 so i wouldnt know myself but if you had to choose what would you all considered the most dreadfully boring to the least boring? or if you won a free trip to one of the 3 only which one would you pick?

Moved to Colorado last year from NE Ohio. Man do I miss Cedar Point.

This is my home park and I like this park, the only other park I have been to is valley fair and they have some pretty good rides. Hopefully they can add a steel venom or like you said in the video a new and improved twister. They should take out half pipe and maybe add a thrilling flat ride similar to Canada’s wonderland as half pipe is very rough. Also maybe try to get more space to add some rides in both the theme and water park as there pretty landlocked. Last thing is the drop tower, maybe make it taller and add the third car that’s missing on again

Knoebels used the twister coaster as inspiration for their Twister. The layout was even used for inspiration.

I very much agree Twister II should get the RMC treatment. It definitely needs it. I also agree that Elitch's isn't the best, but it's alright for what it is. If you're ever in Denver again, stop off at Lakeside. Though that park is pretty old and sketchy looking, it's got some good roller coasters (with a new one coming in 2018) and a charm Elitch's doesn't really have anymore.

Pronounced EE-litch gardens - was my home park growing up - now my home park is Cedar Point - I never even knew what I was missing! A shame that Sidewinder was closed, best airtime there - only downside is you have to hike up all the stairs to ride!

Sure, it’s not that special of a park. But growing up in Denver, some of the best memories I have were made there with my childhood friends. It’s not quite unique, but honestly I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve had a season pass every year since I was 12, and I would give ANYTHING to go back to the summers I spent here screwing around with my friends

You actually didn’t say all of the roller coasters, there’s more than that. And I don’t think it’s that small, also consider that it also has a water park.

i personally thought it was steps down from a 6 flags park, compare it to magic mountain, astroworld, or six flags dallas or sanantonio and this was a baby park. fun for what it was but nothing to go out of your way to.

I love Denver!, before COVID-19 happened I would go visit my best friend at least three times in the summertime, we always made it a point to go to Elitch Gardens, it’s a fun park with great rides, I beg to differ on your opinion however, everyone is different, now is it better than six flags over Texas?seeing I’m from Dallas, no, but Elitch does the job for amusement Park fun.

I hope with their new plans for a new building and more land that perhaps this park can get like maybe the RMC advertisement model single rail (so not the railblazer/wonder woman layout) and who knows, maybe an RMC in general. Better trains for mind eraser and a new name. It's a solid little park with a lot of good rides but lacking in coasters-or rather good ones, though I wish those arrow shuttle loops were still everywhere. Only ridden Diamondback, wish I would've gotten to six flags america when they still had one they definitely should've kept. Maybe if it got more profitable six flags would buy it and darien lake back so I wouldn't have to pay to get in lol.

Commenting before I watch, and I just gotta say, I *_LOVED_* this theme park. It wasn't near as good as any other park I've been to, but I loved this park. I was gonna ride the Brain Drain but someone vomited on it. Gross.

Elitch gardens is my home park and I have to agree with Taylor that's it's not very impressive. It has some good little rides and espically that first walkway with a the buildings is very charming. The arrow shuttle loop offers great airtime aswell. But it is a nice park to go to when you have some time to kill. Good Review!

unfortunately, I'm guessing were not seeing any progress on this place soon. the park is being relocated at some point over the next few years. building and subsequently moving a new coaster would be ridiculous.

I live in Denver, elitches sucks. It’s unfortunate that we haven’t had a new ride added in like 15 years. The mind eraser is ass, so is the side winder. Twister two, boomerang, and half pipe are alright.

Besides Sidewinder, is there really anything special about this park? Twister II sounds nice, but I have heard better things about the other Mister Twister homage coaster, Twister at Knoebels. And then the rest just seems to scream “Six Flags was here” even though it was sold off long ago to other owners.

Absolutely agree. As a resident of Colorado, I have never been impressed with Elitch Gardens. Comparing to all the other six flags, this park is pretty lame. In the future, I hope that they will get rid of a few rides so they can make a large addition like a hyper coaster at the least. I enjoyed my time at Glenwood by a milestone compared to Elitches.

This is the best park ever!!! It’s not that expensive really and the rides are totally great!!! I recommend the spider, twister 2, and shipwreck falls! Also the other water ride but I forgot what’s its called because i can’t remember things
