I've started playing basketball basketball again in my 60s, almost 50 years after I last played. It's great for moving explosively in all planes. It took over a month before I started jumping as part of my practice, but it did happen spontaneously when I became ready for it. I keep a basketball in my car and stop at a court almost every day after work. 15 minutes a day does wonders.

Amen to proper breathing; this changed my life. I have to do a lot of public speaking and I would always lose my voice and get sick after a long show; haven’t felt that way in years now

What about athleticism outside of strength, speed, endurance, power? Like coordination , reaction time… the stuff to be good at sports

Toss things up and catch them. Change the location of the catch to your full range of motion. Catch close to the body, far from the body, up high, down low, across the body, etc. Every time you wash your hands and dry them off with a paper towel... You have a great object in your hand to do this with. Toss it up in the air and snatch it as forcefully as you can. Now if you wash your hands 3 times per day, and get 20 catches each time, that's 60 x 7 = 420 additional catches you just added to your routine with only about 30-45 seconds added to your hand washing time, for FREE!

Reaction time can be cut down with anticipation or by repetition of a skill, coordination can be improved in many ways but I think something like Tai Chi which involves focused meditation and balanced movements can improve coordination.

Time off is so good for you. Got to. No matter what you’re doing. It helps get that fire back in your belly. I’m a BJJ practitioner/coach. BJJ brown belt, been training for 10 years. I’ve been a wrestling coach since stopping competing in college as well. Right now I’m a new dad and only able to train BJJ once a week, and that day I’m usually coaching a class. I’m so fired up for those days. I can’t wait for the kiddo to demand less attention, but as soon as I get home from work, the wife hands the baby to me. How do you guys balance being a new dad with training, especially with a fussy baby with little to no help from grandparents?

It's definitely wise to hold a breathing rhythm when running but when I start sprinting, I hold my breath for roughly the first half of the distance yet when I do breathe I'm still holding my brace

Andrew if your still having issues getting than you may want to reduce the amount of times your getting handled by another man! I find when i partake in fully lubed Greco Roman wrestling, i keep it to once per week! Particularly if your using tour pump 45 minutes a day, your Johnson takes up alot of your recovery!
