Well done cmdr, this is a great start to your FAoff journey. I did try commenting before but it disappeared. Maybe it didn't like the link to the Newtons Gambit Discord, the home of FAoff pilots. You did remarkably well with little wobble. Keep it up, once everything clicks there'll be no going back!
You’re absolutely gonna want to toggle on/off even in combat. FA on is just a huge quality of life advantage for mining or planetary flight. I turn mine off for evasion and dogfighting and then click it on to help stabilize the reticle for aiming and shooting. Everyone does it differently but we all use both.
Not enough cmdrs take the time to master there craft. It makes the game so much more engaging making all the fairly simple tasks or missions enjoyable because it’s a challenge. I took the time to master it and I’m so glad I did. Good luck cmdr 👍🏽
@@silentangst7742 good stuff, yeah I’ve been 100% fa off for donkeys years now. I learned on hotas but use mouse and the Razor Tartarus game pad now (cross between a controller and keyboard with analog buttons) Lots of videos on my channel to check out and I have also started streaming if you wanted to drop in and ask any questions 👍🏽
It is absolutely worth learning. It can help you massively in combat. However, it is extremely difficult. I have it set to a pinky trigger on my HOTAS so I can switch it off in bursts to boost maneuvers

Unfortunately, I live in eastern Australia, so there's a good chance our timezone differences wouldn't work.. also, there might be too much lag from my end, for it to go well. Nice, subscribed. It will be interesting to watch your progress. I tried to set up double sticks this week again, but will probably switch back to HOTAS. Vertical and lateral thrusters seemed to be less responsive than I'm used to from my HOTAS. Maybe just bad calibration and response curves setttings. I'm flying FA Off about 50% of time, usually I lose control in some wilder maneuvers in combat. Good luck with your training! o7
Do you have to adjust your mouse sensitivity for this? Any time I've accidentally knocked FA off turned out to be a nightmare and the controls became supersensitive
flying a tiny ship with FAO is not hard... doing that with a Corvette or similar size is another level as you have to put in massive corrections but not over correct...
