Finally we are able to check this beast! Wondering if it permorms different from previous model? Or it it close to FDL? Just with me to check it out! Intro music by Andy James - Sphere
Also one thing that people aren’t talking about is that this ship was built around the new supercharged fsd, and genuinely stays as cool as a cucumber, doesn’t rip your joystick off after a 10 sec burn and at 5000 times the speed of light only burns through 1110 tons per hour. And accelerates faster than a nun on crack and decelerates quicker than a pedo driving past a school.
@@Aggrobiscuit I did some PvE multicrew with a friend and I had all Pulse Lasers long range with Multiservos and barely have enough weapon capacity to fire all guns for more than 6 seconds with 4 pips in weapons. Definitely need a weapon focused Distributor or Flow control on a few weapons. 4 Large and 2 Medium is way too much for a size 6 module.
@@luckybrand6762 I'm using one class 3 beam, and everything else MCs. The MCs will fire infinitely at 4 pips but having to be at 4 pips wep isn't ideal, and the pips get eaten fast at 2,2,2 or 1,4,1, as compared to the Krait 2.
Even just taking this ship from engineer to engineer I really like the way it flies. Not done with engineering yet but I’m excited to get it finished. Think I will primarily be using Frags.
Thanks for this. I find it interesting that you have no test of lateral thrusters though. As a dedicated Python pilot I can tell you one of the things that makes it stand-out ship is that the Mk I has phenominal vertical thrust performance compared to most other ships. The Python Mk II retained this trait which gives it a lot more maneuvering versatility when compared to an FDL, especially given that it directly competes or out performs the FDL in several categories as outlined in your video here.
thank you! I did try comparing verts of both and FDL but - no luck to provide valuable data yet.. But keeping in mind experience you've shared: seems I need to spend more time in mkII and original one - perhaps will find out how to show it properly in the next vid!
@@Alswulf Yeah I've thought a bit about it and I'm not really sure what the best way to demo it consistently would be. If I come up with an idea I'll drop you a line.
@@Alswulfmy best idea would be to have a teammate stationary, lock onto them so you see the distance to them, then compare how long it takes to fly x amount of distance using each lateral.
@@gho5tspartan26yt python mki is about tanking (having decent internals for scbs) and dealing damage. FDL pilot would require more effort to beat it but at the same time: if the pilot is skilled enough - it shouldn't be an issue
Well last night I go stuck jousting with a banker in mine over Palin’s shop. I lost, but considering I was totally un engineered, barely shielded, and only packing a few AX missiles….. she performed better than I could expect.
The big thing that caught my attention with this ship is just how much firepower it has. It's an obvious competitor to the FDL and Mamba, it's very much in that niche of fast medium ship with limited space inside and lots of utility mounts. It's heavier, but thanks to size 6 thruster still about the same in speed. However! I'd argue it has the most firepower by quite some margin. No huge hard-point mount, but many builds don't make use of that anyway. If you go for frags, it's terrifying, far more firepower than either competitor and about the same speed/maneuverability. It's basically an FDL that traded a huge hardpoint into two large ones and upgrading two mediums to large. If you have all frags and engineer them well this thing is just brutal.
The thing is the FDLs small mounts are great for rail guns which are horrific to fight against along with their excellent placement. a 3k+ prismo FDL with rails or PAs is just a nightmare.
Whilst looking great, the fact the power supply and distributor took a hit will have me wishing i took the FDL, the hit to power means you're just not gonna be able to run the guns you want
Excellent research. I also like the old school pitch, etc. comparison between the ships. Since you do such an outstanding job, would you mind researching heat capacity and radiation on these as well as distro energy consumption per boost? You can find the stats on existing ships on EDSY. I do not have access to the PMKII and thus can not test, thanks if you're planning to take a look at this.
Great review although I would have loved to see some damage/sustained dps numbers and also a comparison with the Krait MkII. I think the key competitor to this ship in many ways is the Krait, not the old Python or even the FDL
cheers! Regarding Krait MkII kinda doubt: it has very weak boost and turns in comparison to Python MkII and at the same time it has less health pool that old python. Overall the onliest real competitor to Python mkII is FDL. Krait MkII is a good all-arounder
@@hibiscus779it barely matters in combat when it's week. Just try yourself boosting from max reverse speed like here in tests - you'll see what I do mean. Same goes for boost strength transfer into lats/verts: much weaker than FDL/Python MkII
It is a cool looking ship. A bit weird looking at the same time. It looks like a ship within a ship. Good overview commander. How do you feel about ship kits so far?
this one I've missed to check though it seemed "close". Might be related to the sound also but felt like mk2 has "longer boost". Worth to make properly detailed mech view for this one
well, new players had not much chances since engineers were released so.. Not much changed here :D I mean: facing full frag mamba or clipper which have dps of few thousands of sidewinders.. is already *oof*
Totally gank ship. High speed, very high firepower, low endurance in fights due to small amount of optional slots, SC overcharge to catch up to victim quickly = 1-2 minute fights where PMKII commander can kill a ship without worrying about overheating.
Well that didn’t happen to me when some fool in the P MK II jumped me as I was taking off from the landing pad at Farseer Inc. Then that same pilot tried to attack me and he was unable to take down my shield then I attacked him and he decided to bugger off. I was in my IEagle.
That's new statistics for for me: "boots from reverse". I'm playing for 2000+ hours plus & didn't know that. I thought that for all ships it's approximately same. Where can I get full stats ? o7
oh, there are few more hidden stats of the ships like heat cap/venting, shield multiplier, boost length.. The most valid method I found: check it myself or wait till someone else gonna do this :D But regarding boosts - yep, it differs much among the ships: it's one of the reason why some ships can't compete with combat-focused ones - boost strength
--- I am not a fan of PVP in the game, but expected from the new Python more as an anti-tharhoid ship. Too bad, but he disappointed me when I saw his anatomy. The set of additional compartments does not contribute to the construction of a cold tank on it and the housing of the ship will be very blazing. Only a shield ship is possible, but without the support of the healer in the wing, which will pour the shield, it will also not live long, besides, it will be too hot and noticeable for trading. In addition, with a good set of hardpoints, it has a weak power plant and a power distributor. So I decided not to buy it, wait on August 1. Glory to Mankind and Glory to Ukraine!
how it can be "pay2win" if you are able to achieve it just playing the game? Premium ammos only for real $ would be pay2win. Its barely a "sad chapter" but a decent step for Elite: we are finally able to support game we are playing for 10 years and get snacks for it :]
surprise-surprise: you don't need a rebuy for a sidewinder too. So, everyone is on pay-to-win? You may try to "win something" with stock python and share results :D It would be quite weird approach if stuff you bought from a shop as a new player - dissapeared in seconds after you lost your ship. That would be a scam. **and my python mk2 "somewhy" has rebuy of 9+ mils atm cause no one would use it seriously stock/unengineered
@@Alswulf The sidewinder is the ship you start the game with so losing it and getting it back is analogous to dying in a game and re-starting with the absolute bare minimum. I'm glad you've found your niche game that you enjoy. However, it's problems like the cash shop that prevent E:D from being a truly great game of its time - like World of Warcraft was for a few years after 2004. It's things like the cash shop that keep E:D in the niche category and prevent it from becoming more popular with better updates. It doesn't matter how well the 'cake' has been made - if it's got a bit of shit in it (cash shop) it's still got shit in it - and this applies to cosmetics too.
loosing it is*not* analogous to dying in the game: you actually never die in the game thankfuly to remlok tech (your chair in the ship). It's a core lore of ED. Credits in game lost its value like 7 years ago and having any ship you wanna - barely the endgame. Even new cmdr able to do a mission to get few first mils in 10 mins. So I'm far from understanding what are you trying to tell. It's not pay 2 win since you are able to get it via ingame activities *even now*: just playing the game and achieving this ARXs (that's how I actually bought it - cause I had ~18k ARXs). Having it with 0cr rebuy means also nothing since its a rebuy for a *stock* ship - add prisma, pacifiers and bulkheadand you'll get up to 5 mils rebuy already (there is not a single point of using the ship unengineered/stock). Game was living for 10 years already and now it gets a second breath with new content arriving. I see no reason to be sad
She looks very good but still the main question remains: given that she shares basically nothing with her sister ship, why in hell a new Python and not a new SHIP altogether... Or at least a revamp with a new cockpit, like the Mamba was
