So funny story, I got a new 3440x1440p ultrawide monitor before my silly caveman brain remembered that RU-vid only supports 16:9 and not 21:9, so I went in to Nvidia Shadowplay (which has been my bread and butter for years) and found out that there's no way to force it to just record the center 16:9 (for you shmucks to watch) while I play in 21:9 (and bask in the glorious added peripheral vision). It was only recording 21:9 no matter what I tried, which is a pain because I have to then crop it in a video editor and I am too lazy for that. Also the file size of the recordings went up 33% for no reason because it's suddenly recording 33% more screen that I would then end up cropping out. So I had to switch over to OBS, which can easily record the center 16:9 while I play 21:9. Issue is, I haven't used OBS in years, no idea what the quality will look like, so I'm uploading a quick recording as a baseline to check video and audio quality against some of my other stuff.
TLDR low effort upload to check and see how OBS looks. Enjoy.

OBS is really really good, you can set it up to also work with things like making clips. Also in terms of performance and file size you can set it to use the exact same codec as shadowplay. I recommend recording in mkv btw, it may seem odd at first since you can't edit in it. BUT the file size is smaller, it'll save the recording even if you crash. And most importantly obs has a built in converter that you can use to just convert it back to mp4 once you want to edit any footage. A friend of mine also has an ultrawide monitor and he actually uses obs as a virtual camera that way he can share his screen to us without it being really small on discord.

I thought RU-vid did support different aspect ratios. I've seen a few that are wider than 16:9 though I don't know what they are or what they've done. Grats on the new monitor and hope you get a good feel for OBS.
