This is a cinematic trailer, set in Elite Dangerous universe, that showcases the game's varied and nuanced facets and roles which players can embrace. From trading to deep space exploration, or action-packed human or alien combat - the opportunities are plenty.
The filming was completed without any special account, tools or privileges that would make it easier. Instead, tens of thousands of LYs have been travelled to get the best imagery and action takes which are the epitome of Elite Dangerous. Some scenes you see took weeks in planning and/or waiting for the right conditions. Others were cherry picked from hours-long sessions following the "action".
Special thanks to fellow players who either provided guidance and information on the game and it's stunning locations, provided transport around the galaxy or directly participated in the filming. In no particular order:

@@madskater5 The cinematography, the framing, the camera work, the environments, the cuts from the rotating perspective from thargoid to guardian (which was SICK), all of it comes together to form a beautifully choreographed experience, with some EPIC narration as the cherry on top. All while in engine, using none of FDEV's own cinematics. Simply incredible

Fan-fecking tactics!!!. FDev....take note.....this is how its done. I've neglected my cockpit recently, but this vid has rekindled my love for ED, by highlighting what a great title it is. My only ( minor ) observation is to do with the audio levels... found it hard to hear voice over at some parts. But, seriously, awesome vid o7 Cmdrs

This really gave me goosebumps, congratulations on producing better communication than Frontier :) Now if only the game was that exciting... I can't really find a reason to launch ED nowadays, especially since FD went silent with it... Where are TRUE atmospheric worlds? (most basic space game can do them well enough, I'm not expecting Star Citizen level of details, but at least give us something. I'd be happy with endless water worlds, or forests, or anything really...) I am among the few who really liked Odyssey, even during the beta, but it still lacks content (more weapons, maybe suits variations, more ground vehicles). Plus not a single new ship in 5+ years? Come on FD... And to everyone asking what would a new ship/gun/vehicle bring, I'd answer variety is the spice of life. They don't need to do anything different, but at least we wouldn't be seeing the same 4/5 ships everywhere in the universe. Anyway your trailer made me want to give ED a go again, until I'm bored again by the end of the weekend lol

Con decir que al ver este video me han entrado ganas de volver a jugar el Elite Dangerous. Eso si despues veo que apenas han puesto contenido nuevo, los bugs de siempre, la falta de comunicacion por parte de Frontier con la comunidad, etc y se me a pasado.....

Been playing since Dec 2014, 12,000 hours (should be more but down to 3 hours a day presently), played this game through some pretty hard times and I swear its the only thing that got me through that period........This vid gave me the cutting onions symptoms ..........such a great tribute to the game and its devs & community. Well done Cmdr(s) I truly hope Fdev sees and acknowledges this!

I recently tried Elite dangerous after a couple years hiatus. Looked at a planet in Odyssey and compared it to Horizons legacy. Bearing in mind the criticism by many that it's been downgraded, I was surprised and felt it was the opposite. The legacy version looked more blurry and cartoonist (beiges etc) compared to Odyssey which was more realistic in terms of landscaping. The station interiors were sharpened and more detailed in Odyssey. This may explain slightly lower frame rates as the graphics engine has more to process. Just my opinion, I expected to concur with the critics but found I couldn't.

This game is far more than what critics give it credit for. Elite Dangerous Odyssey is an amazing game. It's huge. You can make your own way. My way has been exploration, but wow, this game is the only game I play regularly. Great job on the video!

Now if only FDev saw this and realized we need more content and the console version back. Stop trying to sell f1 manager nobody wants it, they want to be NBA 2k or madden so bad and don’t realize they have a gold mine they are neglecting for a niche audience. Maybe it’s nostalgia and time making the heart grow fonder, but Starfield was hot garbage and even tho odyssey wasn’t great it’s better than starfield.

Quite a chunk of the content you just watched in that film was added to the game in the last few months. The console version is still there. It's just not receiving further updates.

You know, this video makes me fairly emotional, for I have put a nice chunk of time into Elite Dangerous, as I really love the core gameplay and the wide variety of things I can do, I just struggle in convincing myself to return to this game. I just don't like the state Odyssey created for this game, and I don't want to play on Horizon with only half the content, so I'm kinda stuck. I keep going back and forth as to what to do, and those thoughts will probably keep on going through my mind, for I have the quite the history with this game. Maybe one day something will completely draw me back into Elite Dangerous, but for now I wait for mind to possibly make the decision to return to this frustratingly beautifully creative game.

Wow wow wow !!! absolutely incredible all of this superb game deserves and more and an epic showcase for Elite Dangerous Odyssey. IMHO FDEV should buy the full rights to this masterpiece video as it would massively increase game sales of EDO.

This game has its ups and downs, but nothing I've ever done on my computer in my 36 years on this pale blue dot compares to my time on Distant Worlds 2. Very little in my real life does either. And Elite gave me that opportunity. Regardless of what the future holds, I will always be eternally grateful to this game for those precious few weeks.

fantastic video, community do much better things than companys made games, in this case, Frontier do .... I gave up on ED because the company that continues to "develop" Frontier, I've lost my trust in them, I'll only play ED again when Frontier decides to sell the game to a company that knows how to do things, until then I won't play ED again, and I'm sure I never will, as we all know Frontier they will never sell the game to another company, when I saw that Microsoft would be interested in buying the game I didn't even need to see the rest of the news because I already knew that Frontier would never agree to sell, Frontier is too proud and that's one of the problems that led ED/Odyssey to ruin, ED had everything to be epic, in the end it came out an epic failure.

coming up on playing for 9 months now i will never be able to catch up on the love a lot of players have for this game. no planetary waypoints are able to be set for explorations sake or in mining where those would help keep track of where you have been but you do have an infinite amount of probes. i dont understand the stupidity behind that. But the sights, the fact that i can go for thousands of lightyears in any direction and see the sights still after 9 months thats what makes me love this game. ill never catch up and i do WANT those waypoints but i do love this game for the sights.
