The fundamental basis of most of these reactions is they've been training for years, getting huge muscles, and this skinny guy shows up and lifts the weight effortlessly. That's what shocks them. That's why he said "I'm not training [anymore]."

That was just demonstration how far away that weight was from Anatoly's true max weight. I'm pretty sure he couldn't do that close to his own personal max. It's the same with pulling deadweights with one hand and answering a phone with another at the same time.
