This is a sample workout designed in accordance with the scientific principles of hypertrophy training.
PLEASE feel free to try it yourself!
To determine rest times per set, unless otherwise specified in the video, do your next set once you have achieved everything below:
Your target muscle is no longer still burning from the last set
You feel like you can push the target muscle hard again, and are mentally ready for another hard set
Your breathing is more or less back to normal
Your synergistic and stabilizer muscles are recovered and ready to support your target muscle in the upcoming set

Listen the GI tract has a mind of its own when you're in a hard workout. I am not ashamed to admit I don't know what the hell is happening in there while I'm weightlifting. Sometimes you hear a kazoo sound pop out of there. Like someone is clanking on a metal pipe with a wrench. It's anarchy.

To be honest for most of the sets they had around 1-2 RIR, people are just not used to actual failure, specially powerlifters (because going to failure for then is actually detrimental).

The music was a great editorial choice. Makes for a much more visceral experience, kind of develops the same feeling as if you're the one doing the reps. A lot better than generic rock/metal/EDM/hip-hop instrumental.

Chris is retired, he has been paid. He now creates equipment for power lifters while continuing the practice... Joe currently gets paid for competitions if he wins, and is a coach in powerlifting. Powerlifting is their profession, therefore they are professionals. This is seriously not hard

Dr Mike: You want to stay somewhere between the minimum effective volume and the maximum recoverable volume. Ideally you aren't wrecked for you next session. Also Dr. Mike: Watch these guys lift til they are puking and bleeding from the eyes and ears.

That is for a normal natural lifter. These guys aren't/weren't certainly natural hence it makes sense for them to train this way. If a natural guy trained this way, probably end up with rhabdomyolysis.

Curious what you guys think about Hak squats and leg extensions on the knee joint? A lot of people in sports medicine and some lifters will avoid leg extensions due to the sheeting force on the knee joint. Also, it seems Hak squats are really unnatural compared to a regular squat, step up and lunge. It's a significant amount of strain on the knee joint. Thoughts? Thanks!
