As a pc gamer, I always play plugged in so the battery isn't a factor for me. I have both controllers and with the added steam compatability I tend to reach for the dualsense edge more now.
I've had x2 elite 2s go bad. My trigger stopped responding and my B button on my newer one started acting weird. So far I'm happy with my dualsense edge
I also had the elite 2 times, but the grip comes of after 100+ h of use on both. and the lb button is making problems on the 2nd so I had 2 open it... a gr8 controller wich feels high quallity in your hands till the point it start to break apart but at the and it is a really cheap product.
Such a great comparison review buddy. I'm honestly not surprised that the Elite 2 wins out more because its not Microsofts first rodeo compared to Sony. I think the DualSense Edge 2 will be something really special.
Thanks so much! Yeah The Edge seems like a beta test type of controller, but you already know the 2nd one will be better developed. Thanks for watching!
Imagine the elite 3😂 if I was Xbox I’d go all out . Better battery, motion controls , haptic triggers AND HD RUMBLE. Xbox just got leaked and it's almost what I said it would be 7 months ago
I've always loved the playstation style controller but I agree the elite is probably the better option for PC gaming, Its a real bummer that most these pro controllers are not using Hall Effect triggers, and thats another reason why the edge has set a new standard , but of course they have to get their money. I'd love to see you try out the new Scuf Envision Pro that just dropped its defnitely will be the standard but again.... those damn thumbsticks. just deal breakers. (but they include a 1 year warranty so that helps i guessssss). Great vid again brother!
Since you are talking about PC gaming, I would think addressing the major feature advantages the Edge has over the Elite would be pertinent. The PC is the platform with the power to use and customize all of the DS Edge’s special features. The touchpad, for example, can be assigned so many inputs, you could fly a Boeing simulator (I reserve mine to house a conservative 16 additional buttons though😊). Even the non-unique features are significant, because the Elite lacks sensors found in every other console controller and the Steam Deck. You’ll see people use a Nintendo Pro controller, DS4, or Dual Sense to play games like R6 Siege, Valorant, or Team Fortress 2, but they’ll never play with an Elite.
So I have both, and my verdict is to go with the PS5 DSE controller. It all comes down to one bullet point for me, and that is the fine tuning of the analog sticks. I play competitively on MW2, and my horizontal sensitivity is set to 18. My aim is very good on the ES2, but it is absolute incomparable to my ability to aim on the DSE. It is a night and day difference.
Hey, thanks for commenting! I agree, out of the box the sticks of the Edge are far better tuned than the Xbox ones out of the box. Thanks for your take! 😄
@@sideoftech agreed. Even after diving into accessory setting of an elite series 2, changing axis points and further editing rotational values, tightening and loosening the tensions, the ps5 controllers out of the box are just better even thereafter. And I say this as someone who does not own a PlayStation. I’m an Xbox gamer who currently has been using a stock ps5 controller with back paddles that I installed, through a brooks adapter. (Waiting for a brooks adapter firmware update for the DSE, as it’s not yet compatible) that said, I have had my friend bring his ps5 over and played with the DSE that I own, and I’m the analogs are just the same as that on their stock controllers
I’ve been a ps gamer for most of my life but recently I’ve tried to get more on the pc side but still play exclusives that come out on ps5. Do you think it’s better to go with the dual sense edge and get maybe a normal Xbox controller on the side or is there better alternatives for pc gaming?
I’d suggest the Xbox elite 2 if you HAVE to have a pro controller for the PC. There’s just more customization and more well integrated software for it. The edge is cool on the PC but you have to plug it in to get all the features to work. If you download a third party app for it you can most likely unlock more features but it will never be how the Elite is. That’s my suggestion 😄
@@sideoftechdont listen to this microsoft shill the elite 2 is utter garbage. Ive had 2 that lasted less than 3 months. Majorr stickdrift plus paddles will randomly stop working. Xbox customer service is a pain no one wants to deal with trust me.
I love the video but I most say more features ≠ better , and you said that the controller on the elite can’t be charged through the case but it can. The Dualsense has to have a charger plugged directly into it through the case , but the elite series has a charging port which you plug the cable into which then charges the controller when placed ontop
The edge is also compatible with all ps5 wireless charger docs and the ability to lock the 10ft cord that comes with the edge into the controller is better in my opinion. Oh and the magnetic joysticks on the elite 2 is kinda annoying since if you’re a cod player they can fall off (my cousin has and elite and it happens to him). They’re both great controllers but at the end of the day it’s all down to preference.
@@jessesager9533 ...how the fuck are your joysticks falling off? you're supposed to push inwards when playing... not outwards 😭That's more of a you problem lmao
Sick of people complaining about having to throw away their Elite controllers because of stick drift or bad bumper switches. Yes, Microsoft should’ve put higher quality components in their pro controller. But joystick modules cost a whopping $8 and are straightforward to replace with a little soldering. You can replace every switch on the controller for $15 as well. Why someone would throw out a $180 controller over stick drift is beyond me, repair your stuff! It’s a complete waste of money to buy a new one.
Great video as a competitive gamer who games long periods at a time i actually prefer a lighter controller. On my battlebeaver u had em remove all the rumble motors and any unneccessary stuff in the controller. Its light as a feather Have owned 3 elites both v1 and v2 and lemme tell u they all broke. My v1 lasted a year. Both v2s only lasted 2 months tops before something critical broke and stick drift set in. Customer service even sent a 4th replacement and it arrived broken with drift. I will never buy an elite branded controller. Just bought the bfg and hated it for fps am gonna buy the edge today
elite is by far the best controller ever made. However, it's reliability issues knock it down quite a bit. Still, the elite has proper thumb-stick placement. PS controllers are always inferior because of that, no matter how "good" they are. That along with superior build, feel, compatibility and radically better battery life, it's not even a competition. I want to like the Dualsense more, but it really just seems like a normal dualsense controller with a couple extra features.
If youre a working man , and have and hour or two to play here and there , and dont have time to feddle with driver issues and third party crap that doesnt work well , just buy the elite , plug and play , no set up needed . If youre a geek that likes to experiment with softwares and try to do crazy s*** and don't mind with some crashes and some things don't work out of the box then definitely you can try the edge on the pc and see how you like it
Super informative! I think im going to go with an elite, it just sucks about those thumb sticks. Hope it’s not as common as everyone says! Awesome video 😄
IMO the thumsticks are better. As the controller is much more durable (Xbox controllers in general are more durable than ps controllers) meaning that stick drift isn’t that common , even if it isn’t handled right. I had 6 Xbox controllers, only one Xbox one controller I had for 5 years got a slight slight stickdrift. I don’t think it needs replaceable modules either.
I've owned 4 elite series 2 with the Geek Squad protection on each. All four of them have failed on the bumpers. RB refuses to work without slamming down on it and now my LB bumper is starting to do the same. This wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't happen to now four of my controllers within a year of owning them.
Rip it really is common i had all 4 ive own develop unplayable stick drift. My v1 lasted a year 3 v2s lasted less than 3 months. Although that is my personal experience 4 controls in a row with issues is not good odds. Plus on 2 of the v2s the paddles stopped working randomly
I’ve bought and returned 3 elite controllers all for various defects out of the box. I tried this same cycle in 2021… screw the v2 until MS makes anew version
probably because people that have the elite, are ordering replacements off amazon, and then swapping the used controller for the new- and sending it back for a refund. you probably got a used controller a time or two.
@@diegobonaventura8501 i grabbed the edge for $45, brand new. it's not as great as people are making, especially the for-profit reviewers. while it's cool you can change out the sticks if they end up with problems, the controller feels cramping, the paddles are awkward, either pair. i'm glad i didn't spend the 200 on it. it's just sitting in the box. back in ps2 days this thing would have made sense because we were moddding controllers with extra buttons. that was 20 years ago. this adds nothing.
@@diegobonaventura8501had 3 elites break eithet buttons or unplayable drift/broken sticks. I dont rage and throw my shi it just stopped working. They sent me one replacement. It came looking obviously used and with stick drift out of the box buttons stopped working a week later. Microsoft denied taking it back and thats the last they have got my money. Built a pc and the xbox been collecting dust as it should be. Fuck microsoft
I’ve been using a ps4 controller with my gaming pc for almost 2 years and it’s always a pain trying to get it to work with new games with different launchers also the onscreen buttons don’t always match in games. It finally died and I went with the Xbox elite 2. It’s sooooooo nice to have it just work without any 3rd party software and hacks. Plus it feels very premium.
Trust me dude I was in the same boat. But for me I blindly used the PlayStation controllers exclusively. Ignorant to the fact that the Xbox ones are just so much better for PC!
Elite is not that good, if your gaming on a pc like I do, why not plug it in without having to download ds4? You’re already sitting close to the monitor so no need for wireless and wired is better input time. Offset sticks is the stupidest thing.
At the end of the day, it comes down to compatibility. The elite will remain the better option for PC gaming, since there is little to no restrictions or compatibility issues when it comes to gaming. You just plug in, then play.
Iddkk i think maybe choosing the controller that wont randomly stop working and develop major stick drift would be smart no? Plus edge is supported on steam and will get support elsewhere.
Dualsense edge for pc worthwhile if youre really into the spiderman games / ratchet game . then you can play it in 4k@120hz ultra pkug in your dualsense and feel & see these awesome games in all their glory .
@@zachtos2 you must’ve overheated your controller’s PCB then, gotta be careful with soldering. Good news is Bluetooth chips are pennies on the dollar so you could always try to solder in a new one. Practice makes perfect, you paid $180 for the clamshell and PCBs, everything else is replaceable/repairable.
for me I like the look of PS controller and I'm a previous Playstation user. I'm used to xbox controller since I play most games in pc if you are not using steam games the only gripe is that you need an additional software to emulate PS controller to Xbox inputs for it to work properly also not all people have the time to setup for a controller typical expectation is plug and play. might be Microsoft's tactic to force gamers to buy Xbox controllers since it is just plug and play.
Oh most definitely! Yeah I wish we had that software on the PC so we can utilize the PS5 controllers fully. I know they can do it, and you can tell they’re making a push to make things for the PC now that it’s become even more popular than ever. Hopefully we get something for these controllers!
@@sideoftech there's also another PS5 controller software called DSX can be installed outside or within steam. the interface looks neat too if I'm not mistaken there's a functionality for haptic feedback I don't have a PS5 controller to try it though.
the dualsense without its 'full potential' is literally just a normal controller how is that a win for the xbox when its also just a normal controller lmfao
Or just skip overpriced controllers and get a Vader 4 Pro or a KK3, both of which come with 6 extra buttons, Hall Effect joysticks that will prevent stick drift, and the KK3 even has a button that creates macros automatically.
It's funny that the asymmetrical layout isn't more harshly judged. What's the advantage of the asymmetrical layout if for no other reason than for Microsoft to differentiate itself from the norm. I was a Stadia user from day 1 and Xbox controllers by layout alone are odd. Is there supposed to be an asymmetrical advantage here? I think not. I appreciate your view but for me symmetrical is the only one that makes any sense at first glance. I'm also a Steam and GeForce player so I think (???) I'm not at any disadvantage staying with the PS5 controller. In fact isn't the playing field leveled for Steam / GeForce players? I'd really like to get your take on this and maybe in your future reviews you could rate these by platform, not just PC. Thank you!
The thing about the layout, is that it is definitely a subjective point of view and purely based on what people prefer. I myself don’t mind either one, but if I were left to choose, the offset style is a little more comfortable. I equate it to Coke VS Pepsi, some people love Coke and hate Pepsi but there are some who just enjoy both and don’t really care but have a slight bias. All in all, just use whatever you like and keep it moving 👌🏼
The Xbox Elite series is worse. It lags a lot, to the point where you have to connect it via cable to get good performance (I assume you want TOP NOTCH PERFORMANCE out of a controller who is supposed to be "Elite")
i really want the dualsense edge for PC but it isn't going to work very well , Specially because it requieres a third party program to work correctly , it takes one simple bug or windows update to change your settings or ruin them . Looks like XBOX elite is the winner but only because i am a PC gamer.
Yeah, the Dualsense Edge makes sense on PC if you understand you’ll get full use out of it from being plugged in and basically playing all your games on steam where it has some customizable features. I used my Elite 2 every time I game on the PC and it’s an awesome experience!
Ok you grab yourself a elite controller and when not if you start to get stick drift good luck having to buy a brand new controller where on the edge all you gotta do is swap out the module for 20$
The PS wins hands down for me. They are far more reliable than the Xbox controller. I’ve had 3 elite controllers that have all gone wrong within a few weeks of use. Buttons stopped responding. And this is a very common issue. I’m surprised Microsoft hasn’t addressed this issue. Having owned both consoles and controllers….PlayStation wins hands down for reliability and stability.
is it like ford vs toyota? im considering moving back to controllers vs k&m. have used xbox elite before and i liked it but am also considering ps controller
How is this even a comparision? Just returned my Elite 2 today because it LAGS BADLY when connected to PC!!! Please don't buy it. I'll keep playing on my Dualshock 4
Xbox controllers hurt my hands. Just can't get used to them or get the proper grip. And the offset thumbstick thing actually drives me nuts. Guess it depends what you grew up on.
microsoft has obviously a superior pro controller but when it comes to consoles and exclusive games, Sony’s stuff is just way better than anything microsoft has to offer… and the dualsense just completely destroys a regular xbox controller in terms of next gen gaming ( i owned both next gen systems so i speak from my experience, but i sold the xbox and kept the ps5)
plastic win over rubber any day rubber = sticky in 1 year only idiot prefer rubber unless you have that unlimited $$$ to keep buying new ones and feel premium
