I've seen stuff like this before where witch space shifts green and the drop is delayed- it's a known bug, but this is different. There was the sound of almost a false drop. Either this is just a weirder version of that bug, or it's foreshadowing cleverly-disguised as that bug.
I've had this happen before back in 3.8, it comes from a connection loss, but the client reconnects in time and not get stuck in a Braben tunnel. The false drop is the moment he got disconnected, but the system didn't load because he's not connected to the server. The client interprets this as "Still loading" and thus back into the witchspace tunnel. And the animation continues to play while the client is reconnecting trying to get back into the system. If it does, it loads and you get dropped out, if it doesn't it keeps going till the client times out and you get an error message. Or worse, and this has happened to me before, it doesnt time out and you have to force quit the game otherwise the Braben tunnel will just continue and you're stuck in hyperspace.
I don't think it's a bug. I think it's waiting for the server to instantiate the instance you're jumping too. The server(s) just may have been a bit busy at that time, getting you further into the "loading scree" than usual.
It is all an illusion. The hyperspace jump was normal. It was all in your head. Hyperspace madness is now a feature in Elite, keep exploring to a minimum boys.
The witch space traveling is actually a loading screen, so if you have a connection spike the game keeps you on the animation until it either receives the expected package or time out. BUT considering the devs like weirding us out, it is possible that they could use this to freak ppl out of as some sort of story telling tool.
on my crap computer the jumps take way longer than on my gaming pc and it just seamlessly loops when it takes longer, I've had 2+ minute jumps due to bad pc and bad internet connection and it never looked like that
And it worked! If your killing Thargoids all the time, a little Witch Space change is enough to get you on edge. If they can intercept us in Witch Space, then it'll be a hassle us traveling
The loading animation is set to turn green after a certain amount of time for the hyperdiction mechanic. You usually only stay on the loading screen long enough during hyperdictions for this to happen, but connection spikes will do this as well.
Normally I would just add that to be multiple weird glitch jumps, but the fact that you got the smooth, non-rumbly jump, indicates a hyperdiction. The fact that you didn't get hyperdicted is very weird
Really wish they would implement misjumps where it'd do that, covas would declare a misjump and emergency eject you out of hyperspace, damaging your ship and putting you a cetain amount of LY farther than your destination, as well as using a significant amount of fuel, but saving you from eternal hyperspace like what happened in the early days of pre-supercruise superluminal travel as described in that one old Elite book.
This happened to someone back in alpha I believe. So many people think this is a bug but I believe It's intentional. When you get stuck in hyperspace it definitely does not look like that. Trust me. When Oddysey released I had 2 or more minute hyperspace jumps and it did not look like this at all.
This happened with me, but in my case after the jump was fineshed, a thargoid was waiting for me. It prospected my ship and let me go. My ship doesn't have guardian technologies and the thargoids had just appeared in the game.
Good luck with all that now I loaded up all my ships into my carrier and headed to Colonia a few weeks ago. Parked in Los atm casually mining tritium still have 19k tns so its not a big deal. Made around 8bil stacking massacre missions back in Sol the last few months gonna miss that place.
I actually had one scary jump where it sounded like a thargoid scream with a weird red yellow pulsating into a green and then I arrived but the whole dropout was delayed by like 30 seconds
I see all the comments talking about how this is a loading error and I raise you this: the cockpit was not shaking like in normal high-wakes. The only time I've seen it not shake is during hyperdictions.
I would say that this is a bug but what if it later in the year it turns out that this actually wasn´t a bug and it had something in common with the stargoid things.
yeah that's weird, the time your in warp or whatever it's called in ED is a loading screen for the next system, so it can be longer, on my crappy computer those jumps take a lot longer than on my gaming pc, but at one point it almost looked like you were going backwards, but to turn green is extra weird along with that extra tone because that loading warp scene is predetermined based on what they want it to look like because it just seamlessly loops the visuals as long as it needs to, at different points since the game came out in 2014 it's looked different, they even had a period where you could get pulled out of that by a goid invasion, but this green stuff with extra tones is new to me
it could be that you passed a thargoid in hyperspace and it was trying to slow you down to exit hyperspace, like when you pass a planet whilst traveling fast in supercruise, it tries to slow you down to exit supercruise.
Looks like you just had a lag spike while jumping. The jump animation has a looped sound in it, so if you have problems while loading into the next system and it takes longer than expected, it will sound like you're about to drop to SC, but it'll just loop the animation sound until you are able to enter the system, or, in some cases, you'll get booted to the menu and you'll have to jump again. The fsd animation is just a cleverly disguised loading screen at its core. I've had instances where I've had to sit in the jump animation for multiple minutes due to desync, or even, if I get unlucky enough, it softlocks the game and I have to task kill.
I think this might a combination of Hyperdiction & connection issue, notice that the star he's jumping toward turns green, which usually happens during a Hyperdiction, but I think due to connection lag the Hyperdiction attempt lagged out and canceled
As far as I know correct me if I'm wrong, please send me a link if necessary my discord link should be on this video there were no hyperdictions from Thargoid trying to kill you like they are now in the war before before war started. I hypothesize that it was a Thargoid jumping in the same direction as me probably a much further distance. I was merely just caught in its jump wake that's why everything turned green and for some reason slow down, we are ants compared to the Thargoids.
@@RADD93 Actually I happen to look up where you were jumping to and realized my theory doesn't make sense cause this was right in the middle of the Bubble and Hyperdictions never happen in the Bubble because of how Thargoids avoid the Bubble, but I'm not so sure about your theory either because Hyperjumps are essentially just loading screens. Actually I wonder if it's something else someone said in your second video of this happening, where the game bugged out and attempted to trigger a Hyperdiction but it didn't work because of the fact that you were in the Bubble where Hyperdictions aren't supposed to happen
Ehhh...the lack of screen-shake _looks_ like a Thargoid hyper-diction, but...they didn't? (closest I know of to something like that is either long loading screens (though never seen *blank* /stalled green witch space like that before....) or when flying into an infested system in a wing/team, but that just drops you in the sys you jumped from instead of hyper-dicting....so I dunno o.o)
Also a quick tip- if you're jumping into a Thargoid-infested system, and the ship/hud subtly shake, you're likely safe- if it's stable/not shaking like usual....you're likely going to have a hyper-diction encounter (at least, ime- the pattern I've noticed on the way into 'goid systems for evac)
@@RADD93 in warhammer 40k you cross an other dimension, the warp, when you traverse hyperspace. Its home of demons and dark gods. As protection serves a special energy shield called: the gellar field
Notice the complete lack of turbulence. That's normally an indicator of a hyperdiction. I think your game loaded the wrong hyperspace animation for some reason, so it did a normal dropout from the hyperdiction version of the tunnel. Weird! :D
@@JJ-pm1zv I haven't played Elite dangers in a while but from what I can remember you have no control during an Jump from one system to another. I speculate this to be more Thargoid related something to do with them jumping at the same time and your paths are just crossing or something like that
We have just witnessed a secret civilization that watched thargoids and humanity from the hyperspace, fdevs are yet to uncover it but they give small hints. That's the joke lads.
Looks like lag. The FSD jump animation is actually a loading screen, and if the system you are jumping to takes a bit to be generated and report to your client that it's ready, it kinda hiccups like that.
The system you were jumping to didn't load fast enough and caused this bug with the travel render (notice how it reverses back rather than looping again). Unrelated to Thargoids just a loading glitch.
