Thought the same as Alex with the red colour at the Underground station end, as it reminded be of the mosiac too! The curve of the platforms definitely looks truly amazing! Really cannot wait to see these in person, extremely excited!

Interesting to see the differences between these purple line stations, & loved your cat's cameo, Chris.

Thank you for showing us special access to these new awesome stations. Your a fabulous team bringing us so much pleasure, each one of you brings something unique to the hangouts. As far as Grundies Undies are concerned. How about a range of underwear with roundals on? Could be a new designer brand....Brief Encounter!. Keep up the good work guys. A big thumbs up from me.

Enjoying the Hangouts, especially the Elizabeth line. I met Laura briefly at the end of Swanage platform. Keep up the good work, very entertaining.

PS: I almost forgot to mention that 4th of December was Saint Barbara’s day who is patron of miners so a special episode for me and for all tunnel engineers! Cheers 🍻

Once again, great vid! Love being on the live chat, for a change got great exchange with Siddy and Chris … your turn next, Laura! The big spaces in these new stations still remind me of the empty equipment floors in old telephone exchanges such as Baynard House, Mondial House and Burne House … and my memory is from 20 years ago, too!

I am loving the new season and episodes about Crossrail/Elizabeth line guys. Just keep them coming 😃 I worked both on the TCR LU station upgrade and Crossrail tunnels between Farringdon and Bond Street but not on TCR Crossrail station which looks awesome and rich in details and very sexy curves 😉 congrats! You guys are awesome 👏🏻😄

Enjoyable, liked the angle and height of both sets of escalators, no need for a man with a wooden leg 🦵, would liked to have seen behind those doors into what might become Crossrail 2 at some stage.

I've been amusing myself trying to work out whether, if Mr Grundon had been there, he would have preferred the straight platform or the bent platform ;)

I’ve just watched your live Oval video which I loved but I am now so loving the brand new stations such as TCR Crossrail station. I was at Whitechapel two weeks ago, amazing.

It's interesting to see these new stations and how they combine shared features and individual ones, and also how much effort goes into designing and constructing them. The combination of shared and individual features (also the mixture of mined and box constructions) reminds me of the Jubilee line extension stations and I wonder whether the Elizabeth line design ethos was influenced by that at all. (But of course these ones are on a larger scale and have a more luxurious feel to them.)

Can Chris give us any insight into Bond Street and what chalanges they have faced in construction that caused it to be behind the other stations?

What an incredibly gorgeous station, it’s like a fancy nightclub, but we’re all on the list! I also immediately got the York Road vibes as soon as I saw the four curvy tunnels joining together. At 19:51, there is a very similar shot of the four of you standing under the arches at York Road. Are there any other old stations that had were given that kind of architecture? I can’t think of any.

There were three other stations built with a similar structure to York Road: Caledonian Road, Kings Cross and Earl’s Court.

I loved it when Siddy was like it's got curves baby haha. Best quote ever.

Is there space for another future escalator on the right as you go down? Very wide shelf.

These reports are great. I particularly note how you react to the artwork and design features at the Liz Line stations you've done so far (Farringdon, Paddington and TCR ). Are you going to have a vote ( or competition open to the public ) to decide on which of the ten new stations is the best? Could be fun because the ones that you've featured so far have all been awesome in their own ways. My personal Fav of the three we've seen so far is Paddington, followed by Farringdon, followed by TCR. However, if the whole of TCR was like the black/dark-decorated part ( not the red/white part ), it would def be the best.

I think we will do something to pay tribute to the artwork at some point.

If only that the Elizabeth Line would of opened in December 2018. I was getting excited to see it open. But now it’s expected to open from early/mid next year. And I bet Geoff Marshall is watching it 😂

How are some of the light bulbs (or whatever they are called!) changed when faulty - the lights at the box part of the station for instance at Tottenham Court Road look quite high?
@RWL2012
@RWL2012 2 года назад
good question, but all the lights used are very reliable LED designs with big heatsinks to avoid failure.

The pedantic question: Given that Crossrail was rebranded to "Elizabeth Line" where does that leave Crossrail Place at Canary Wharf? Does it need to be changed to Elizabeth Place.

Why, given so much space with the long platform, are there so few seats on the platform? It looks a long walk from the surface so a seat would be nice.

Because at 24 trains per hour you may as well just sit on the train

@@GIOGS that works well if all goes to plan. Unfortunately any of us who use trains know that even with the best intentions delays still occur due to unforeseen or reduced services due to industrial action as experienced very recently.

quick question, the ceiling lights as you come into the station are arranged in a distinct pattern, do they mirror the soho area too?

20:31 I thought Crossrail 2 was cancelled? Or is it in case it's "un-cancelled"?

The gate line seems very small compared to the station. Especially as the ticket hall around the escalators is so big. Seems out of proportion.

21:30 OK, right. I'll play. What are the secret square tiled areas to either side of the presenters?
@groovydonkey
@groovydonkey 2 года назад
Fascinating, but to be honest I think most don't take notice of it, as we all just want to get from one place to another. I now find the new architecture of the Underground so boring, compared to many stations that were built and still exist with real architecture and feeling
