Today's episode is all about Pre-Raphaelite muse and model Elizabeth Siddal. I'm going to show you how to get her iconic look!
MAJOR thanks to Anna-Ester Volozh of Dragonbee studio (www.dragonbee.com) for the amazing intro animation! Isn't it incredible? :D

My name is Lucy, I'm a 23-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.
On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!
I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.
If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.
Enjoy browsing!
Love,
Lucy

I always get soooo excited when I see a Beauty Beacons video in my subscriptions! My favorite thing to do is make myself a hot mug of tea and sip it through these videos, so relaxing. I love the cross between history and beauty so much! :D

Even though she's fictional you should do Scarlett o hara from gone with the wind. She was beautiful and used her beauty to survive.

Oh, if you like the Pre-Raphaelites, you should do Jane Morris! She's incredibly striking and has your coloring. :)
@Jakegothicsnake

She actually looks more closer to Jane Morris than to Elizabeth Siddal! She could even pose as Proserpine!

She was also a painter herself, which is often overlooked! I'm not really sure if she had a thin nose. She does in most paintings, but from the sketches I'm seen of her, her nose looks quite different to how it's painted/idealised. I feel like she has a more rustic beauty in most sketches. Gorgeous either way. Somebody at a concert said I looked like Ophelia a few weeks ago (I should be so lucky), and it's probably the best compliment I've ever received! I can't wait to try your tutorial.

The new animated intro is great ! :D I only knew Elizabeth Siddal through the Ophelia painting, so thanks for making me learn more about her. It would be great if you could recreate the style of Empress Livia. Her hairstyle is very distinctive, and you'd have many scultpures to work from. :)

Thanks for choosing "Lizzie", as Dante Gabriel Rosetti called his wife. The sitting with Millais did indeed occur: documented as mere candles underneath a freestanding, clawfoot type Victorian tub placed in a drafty, poorly-heated studio. She contracted pneumonia & later died from a laudenum overdose. Legend also documented: after she died, it was discovered her copper-colored hair grew even longer in the casket.

The story of her modelling in the bath is true and well documented, but actually it was only a cold she caught and not anything too serious..though her father still managed to extract £50 from Millais to cover alleged doctors bills! She was an able artist, though how good is hard to tell as Rosetti was keen that she didn't have lessons as he liked her raw untutored style: though it may be she was as able a draftsman as him and didn't fancy the competition.

Congratulations on having animations. Other Victorian era beauties, who were less avant garden (and less beautiful) I suggest are: Catherine Walters, Blanche d'Antigny, Eliza Lynch, Lillie Langtry (who did celebrity endorsements/used her fame and beauty to advertise products), Mary Cornwallis-West, Daisy Greville, La Belle Otero (though in none of the pictures of her does she look conventional)
