I don’t mind pins. I like to think they’re the inner machinery of the bionicle since they’re basically robots

I don't really see why people have an issue with blue pins. I feel like its just a part used to construct the beings of the MU and it feels cohesive as part of the entire bionicle aesthetic. It never really breaks up any colour scheme from that viewpoint imo because its just a basic part of bonks construction.

The pins are made to hold his chestplate still. I have seen my own. Also the blue pins on his legs (which should be black) help make sure you don't pull the leg too long (by blocking the piston) causing the piston to separate from the axle.

Between the similar name, the oddly similar masks, and the fact that they both have fingers, I wouldn't be surprised if Hydraxon really was supposed to be a Hydro Axonn at some point in development.

The blue pin in the shins are there, because his knee would be able to bend backwards if they weren't-The pins prevent the pistons from sliding between the sides of his shin piece. I own the set and have experimented with removing them. I personally love this set, and overlooked the blue pins. That's just my opinion

8:05 The reason why he has those pins is to prevent the knee joints from bending forward on accident. I guess the designers felt that the body would be too heavy, so they added the pins for posing in a standing position.

Probably still one of my favorite sets from the titans.

I don't really understand why people complain about gaps in bionicle?

the only Gen 1 sets to have hands were Axonn, Hydraxon, Mutran, and Toa Mata Nui

Hydraxon is one of my favorites. I even customized mine by attaching two more blades to his giant claw, and attaching a Zamor Sphere shooter, a squid launcher, a bayonet, and two Disk Shooters to his Cordak Blaster. I also attached a Vorahk shell onto his back as a sort of tail.

Alright Eljay, I understand your frustration with red pins... But blue pins actually have a reason for being blue. They're colored like that to help you be able to differentiate them from the regular black pins. Remember, these sets are still made for children, and I'm sure a lot of children would get confused if the half-axel pins were black. Them being blue helps stop confusion.

It always bothered me how far they strayed from the original feel of the tribal masks. Part of what drew me to bionicle in the first place was the contrast between machines, and a tribal environment and mask designs, but over time that was just forgotten almost entirely. Even as a kid i remember being immediately uninterested when 2004 rolled around, because of the shift to a technological city. I can appreciate it now that i understand the larger story, but at the time i hated it

The black triple pins are so that the piraka foot doesn't slide down off the t axel connector. simply, try pushing down in the top of the piraka foot and it wont slide off, then remove the triple pins and then push down. it will fall off guaranteed

Am I the only one tired of hearing him complain about the blue pins? If they had out of place colored pins on other sets like blue pins on a red character, green on a black one; then that would be understandable. But the friction pins have been blue since the Mask of Light titans. They have been blue in ALL of the sets since then.

A fun thing to do with Hydraxon's left arm, is to remove the fingers, and place one Mantax claw to the hand piece, and you have your self one mean looking clawed hand. I used two of those when I combined all 2007 titans together into one.

Such a badass set. One of my favorites. Plus the character is really cool.

I think the reason behind the red and blue pins is to give the bionicle's a kinda organic look. I mean they are bio-mechanical beings so it just made sense to me to add in some organic color but that's just my theory

The BP's on his leg are supposed to keep the leg from going into awkward angles by preventing the piston from moving the leg forward.

The "Random" blue pins on the legs are a stopper of sorts for the hydraulics.

Fun fact, because I thought the "under the arm" Cordak blaster looked so lame, I turned the next to last arm piece right side up to make the blaster look like it's sitting on Hydraxon's wrist, instead of under it. Was I the only one who did that by the way? Anyways, good looking Titan, second to best in the 2007 Mahri line to me. Eljay: "DAMN YOU BLUE PINS!!!!!"

Dekar doesn't ever remember being Dekar when he transformed into Hydraxon.

I managed to build the original Hydraxon a few years ago from spending 5 hours experimenting and connecting random Bionicle peices laying in one of my old boxes. I was so thankful I didn't have to go on eBay LOL!

Uh did anyone ever originally think this guy was a version of nuparu?

I have his pieces I got at Goodwill that one time and I really wish the larger characters all had faction symbols, also my Nuparu MOC actually carries this mask around as a Matoran with his Toa Inika head on a 2008 Matoran body with accessories that lean towards his inventor/blacksmith side.

Those 'random blue pins' as you said are for stop the legs from moving to far and ass a result make those support tubes disassemble.

I just built him from a 10+ year old box of random Bionicle pieces that I whipped out from storage today. He isn't 100% accurate, but i'm surprised I was able to find enough pieces to make him even slightly resemble the official model, especially since I couldn't even find enough pieces to make a Toa Mata at first.

The cordak blaster works fantastically in water. I'm not saying submerge your BIONICLE parts in water, I'm just saying the function is aided by water pressure.

It is said that Hydraxon does not wear a kanohi mask, to which his helmet is iconic. If he were to wear a mask, he should wear the Kanohi Shelek: Mask of Silence (specifically the version worn by the matoran, Kirop) so that Hydraxon can use it against anyone who uses loud noise against him since it is said that his sharpened senses can be weakened with extreme noise.

I actually have this figure from an assorted Bionicle bag I got from Goodwill and used his parts to make a custom member of the Makuta for my own story.

I believe the blue pins on the shins are for color distribution. And partially for keeping the friction piston from in place.

The only justification I see for the red and blue pins and axels is that it could suggest muscles and veins for that biomechanical look.

The black pins in the chest reduce the looseness of the piraka foot, and the blue pins make sure that the piston doesn't get in his leg I think?

The pins are so the axles on his leg axles don't come out of the piece on his legs. They act as stoppers so they don't break the hydrolicks. I think they should've used black pins so they blend into the legs better.

Hypothetical question: How many blue pins must be added to a Bionicle set before it stops breaking up the colour scheme?

Is it possible that if you extend the legs out all the way and pivot the feet so that the fronts of the feet are pointed, that those blue pins act as stoppers so that the piston pieces don't come apart?

Yeah you're wrong on the hands part. I think Toa Mata Nui had fingers too, and maybe someone before that.

The blue pins in his legs are there to prevent to axles coming out.

The blue pieces are so they don't slide too far and prevent the support balls from disconnecting from the legs

The blue pins in his lower legs are to probably stop his leg pistons from just bending all the way and coming apart. It prevents the leg from bending too much as well.

Those random blus pins in the legs separate those silver tubes from the legs because if they go to close to each other, the grey axle falls out from silver tube.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is underwater axxon

If you Didn't know in the story the real hydraxon is still in the red star.

I know why those blue pins are there: To increase the parts count.

So, the blue pins in his legs are there to stop his legs from being straightened, separating the piston axle from the tube. That sounds like a pretty bad design flaw of the set as a whole. I mean, you can't get this guy to stand up straight?!

Can anyone tell me where I can find this? I've tried bricklink, eBay and Amazon but I can't find him for a reasonable price.

I never minded too much about red and blue pins and axles, the'yre robots, robots have small parts that don't always fit the outer shell's color, it's fine!

Funnily enough, the blaster actually fires a lot more reliably/better when it's dipped in water first.

I have a theory about the blue pins, in that they chose them as part of his color scheme. I believe they’re supposed to be lights, like the lights on other machines in sci fi. The reason I believe this is that not only are they’re open blue pins, but they are also spaced out very intentionally across his body.

Honestly speaking having blue pins instead of black pins is a bit strange. Also Lego hasn't produced any black pins since the Ultimate Accessory Set.

I really don't get why LEGO replaced the black axles and black pins for red and blue in 2007.

Having recently rebuilt Hydraxon myself, I noticed those random pins that don't do anything. Here's my theory; Whoever designed this at Lego builds Hydraxon, and he's an awesome set, and they put him into production. However, they realize that Hydraxon doesn't have a whole lot of pieces to justify his status as a Titan set with a 20 dollar price tag. In fact, compared to Maxilos, Hydraxon is a little small, especially in piece count. So they add these hands, which do nothing and are just there for aesthetics, and are also comprised of eleven pieces each. So 22 of Hydraxon's 165 pieces are used in his pointless hands. And then they threw in the random pins in his legs and on his shoulder areas just to bump it up even more. Anyways, just my theory.

I doubt anyone will see this question, but, hydraxon's mask has any power or is it just decoration?

I should of said this sooner but with future 2007 reviews can you fix the brightness of the background. Its a bit too bright.
