Same. I heard it up in the utah mountains alone in the forest at dark and that was something else man.....It was only like 10 ft from me and I booked it cuz I didn't have amything to defend with a d had no freaken clue what it was lol. Somewhere later mentioned it could of poaaibly been an Elk Bugle.
1:33 I like how the elk first started calling and then slowly walks forward and then looks straightly into the camera and stares like: oh hi, didnt see you over there xD
had one wake me out of a dead sleep tonight with that sound right by my bedroom window! Scared the SH*T out of me!!! That sound is extremely LOUD with a great deal of deep percussion...enough so that it literally shook the windows, floor, walls and even my bed!! I would never have believed it had I not just experienced it myself! Just INCREDIBLE!!
Same thing for me last night. It was a bull getting apples off the tree outside my window. It was pitch black at 2am and it looked like some giant attacking my tree.
@@TheFrogfeeder they really do. If you zoom in far enough that the antlers arent visible, I'd say it's a bovine for sure. And I milk them every day. Weird how similar in the face the two animals are.
Imagine u dont knw what a elk is, you're in the middle of the woods, pitch black at night and hear that sound.. 😐 I was digging a hole and hiding for deer life
I was on a canoe trip in northern Arkansas the first time I ever heard this. It freaked me out for a second until I realized what it was. We got a good glimpse of the bull elk about 60 years away. One of nature’s incredible scenes.
Williams, Arizona 2018 I was camping, we see elk often out there, but I've never done a tent trip that far out in August. Rut season, the bugles went on all night long & very close to camp. I was mesmerized at all the communication happening 💛 I watched the sunrise & listened to the constant bugeling, along with cow elk chirping & some songs from flicker fledglings in the trees. One of my favorite campouts ever.
A few weeks back I was up camping for a fishing trip, and at dusk my first night up there a bobcat started to scream about probably about 100 yards from camp. Even finding out what it was didnt help, being the only person up there at the time.
i live in rural south carolina, right on the north carolina state line, and sometimes elk will wander down out of the state park and into my neck of the woods. first time i heard this call it was 3 am as i was getting into my car for work and i honest to god thought the wendigo was coming for me lol. itll make your hair stand up if you dont know what it is.
@@ferretgers That's what I thought. They wouldn't be able to live here as far as I know because they have adapted to a colder climate. I may also be wrong tho
@@cryptidwatch490 I live right next to table rock state park and they've been spotted coming down the mountain from north Carolina in small numbers around here, the DNR has reported it since 2016 I believe, and I think they used to live here naturally a long time ago before they moved north
I live in Jasper, Alberta. During the fall, you can fall asleep to the sounds of the Elk. They may be doing the hanky panky, but their calls are still quite beautiful.
Sony HD something or other.. I have a new sony 4k now but havent had a chance to get this close since I got it.. everything has to be perfect with wind and placement. Can go years between getting this close. Lol
It's hilarious to me that that is how an elk announces to the world that's he's a bad mother, and not to be messed with. Sounds like a tea kettle about to explode.
Amazing capture! What a beautiful animal!! I take it this was during the run since he was following a cow and he and another were saying to each other "I'm comin to take your woman!! You'll see!" And he replied "Come here and say that! I dare you punk!" "Just wait until I get there...well see how tough you are! I'm gonna get with your girlfriend!" " Try it!!!!" Lol
@@czarandmaeve No Nothing is okay with this person, they are a furry and since they think they are animals we should be allowed to hunt them lile animals
Picture this. It's 11:30 pm. On top of a mountain in Colorado in a dark parking lot, you're looking at the stars. All the sudden from your left, this beautifully haunting sound. That's me right now :)
I've never noticed those slits underneath his eyes. Watching them dilate and then close again made me wonder for a second if air was passing through them like a whistle. I spent a little time looking into it and I guess they are glands that help move pheromones around during the rut. Thanks for this amazing view of a wonderous animal.
@@rmarquar1 There are some talks about it, but nothing serious yet, but considering how well the introductions in PA and the Great Smokies have been, it should be on the table more. I'm hoping to dedicate my Wildlife Biology career to reintroducing them and other species and bringing the possibility into the limelight.
This is my favorite sound in the entire world. I love it so much. I learned how to call with a diaphragm and best part is I live in Ohio. No elk here. Lol 👌
I have to agree with you.. best sound in world.. I use a hand call that is actually a coyote call with a cotton tail reed in it bit it makes an awesome cow call..
Just everything about that video was awesome! The view the animals, the fact that we got to see one of those awesome creatures so close. I will never be able to see it in person so this was the next best thing!
Oh my god it's like? The most musical braying noise? I love being able to really *hear* animals, and wow this is so amazingly close you can really get a sense for this man's size. Fucking superb. And his antlers are so perfect it's unreal. Perfect symmetry??? like??? I'm screaming. You can really get a sense of both that he's majestic eerie prince but also he's a giant idiot baby. I love him immediately.
Magnificant! Wow, thx for posting this. I'm not an outdoor type guy, but just seeing the wonder of God's creature up close like this was awesome! It was really like being there & I found myself trying to be quiet, feeling as if I was right there ;) Were you totally in camo, or just how were you disguised? Amazing footage!
I think the fact that some myths and urban legend from around this location being able to imitate elk bugles is pretty cool, it can be eerie if you're not expecting it
I used to live in an apartment right by an elk farm and had no idea they made this sound. At like 2 am a bunch of them would start and I had no clue what was happening. Scared the crud outa me !
wado for showing this. I have searched RU-vid for the ACTUAL bull moose sound, BUT found only people making the sounds. I typed in different ways for this sound but kept getting human beings imitating. I finally know what the bull moose bulging sounds like. wado,Ann Benson.
Awesome capture. They come and chill by our cabin about the same distance away. I think deers and elk know we for the most part we won't touch them, so they are fantastically good friends while we work around the place. lol
I just heard this out my window at home! Thought it might have been an injured elk but seems just like this, but with several grunts/ exhales at the end.
Any time we talk about moose I ask if the people I'm speaking to if they know what one sounds like, and then I play them this video. Spectacular content, thanks for uploading!
Stars definitely aligned for me that morning. Had a good steady wind I could use in my advantage.. which is wierd in itself.. wind is always swirling out there..
guy fierie why not go hunting wth just a knife seeing all they have us antlers instead of using bullets, shotgun pellets or snipe scopes ^_^ fake ass hunting bullshit -_-
Ninja Lemon you're an idiot.. this guy has 6 on each side so 12 total.. weights 600 plus pounds of pure raw muscle, is faster then humans, hears better, smells 1000 times better than we can and you say use 1 knife.. slap yourself!!! It's incredible people get this close with a bow as it is!!
@@ninjalemon9930 you think hunting is easy? Haha youve never hunted have you? It's a 500+ lb animal that can smell you, hear you, or see you from a long distance, and is fast too boot with big head gear, and are capable of charging. Unless your a vegan pussy, you eat tortured animals every day, hunters get our meat much more ethically and fair. Plus our fees pay for conservation of these animals and their habitat. So politely, STFU snow flake.
