I loved to listen to Elk bugling out along foggy lakes ined the mornings! Just liked to listened to wolfs calling to eached other on frozen cold of nights miles away! And too listening to Great Horned Owls calling for a mate on way very cold nights when it is being supers quiet and only they are making noises!!! I would answer them and they would call backed and come right to the edge of our barnyard looking for me. I do loved nature very a lot.

I promise you, I would be eating elk steak year round. Every year.

That's almost as big as a Roosevelt elk.roosevelt elk never bugle.and like to hide in the old growth forest where the roots of the trees come back up out of the ground 12 feet in the air like the legs of giant green spiders.

Elk like most birds and animals are smarter than humans take them for. They know where there are safe and where they will be fed. One year I hunted above Grand Lake CO during the first rifle season. One week prior to the hunt I saw sign of elk everywhere. Before the first shot of the first season was fired all the elk left the high country and high tailed it into town. I saw them in people's yards and on the golf course sticking their tongues out at me. I found out from the locals that was normal behavior. I spent a whole week traipsing through knee deep snow and all I saw were old tracks and a some tree huggers.

Yes, the animals are quite pretty, but, tell me, why are all the houses in Estes Park painted grey? (At least on the block shown in the video are.) Is it some kind of penal colony? Or company town? Or is the entire place a series of rental units?

wow .. thanks for the memories :-) I lived / worked in Estes back in the 80s and 90s .. even got a tattoo of "Samson" on my chest .. If you dont know who Samson was .. find out ! (edit) HA ! I just got to the Samson part :-) Im so glad they talked about him , Seeing him about town was awesome ... till that total dumbass murdered him in town on the YMCA property ... AHHH it really was a drag ......... anyways the wonderful Samson lives on in Estes history and most definetely in my memory

I'm sorry, but I'm someone who thinks there should've never been any building around the Elk's habitat, period! Who approved the building for all this area? it's wrong, just wrong!

In the fall of 2023 wolves were successfully released in Grand County Colorado. Elk are used to seeing dogs in the area, and seeing the wolves they will think of them as just another inconvenience. Right up to the time when wolves kill these elk. Enjoy this video. It won't be long and these elk will be gone. So a big THANK YOU to all of you who voted to bring wolves into to Colorado. YOU have killed these elk. !

Why are humans allowed to interact so closely with these beautiful, but powerful animals? Human behavior tends to be on the stupid and foolish side, so, I don't understand why people are not "herded" away from these magnificent creatures, and corralled somewhere where pics can be taken, but the fools in the crowd will be unable to be foolish and possibly endanger their lives or the lives of others around them? I just don't understand why this stupid and dangerous behavior on the part of the humans is tolerated.

Somehow it seems there is an over population of Elk and they are not managed the healthiest way. They have no natural enemy and rarely will this end good. Mostly diseases within the herd develop but more to the point for this city is that people will suffer. Who can ever forget Old Lyme Connecticut. Hunting was minimally allowed and the herds grew out of control and the herds invaded the town like in Estes....when people found out what a terrible health hazard these many animals presented and eventually spread to many places, it was too late: Lyme disease! Now it is easy treatable; it was not ij the beginning and it infected mostly children in the beginning because they spend much time playing in their yards visited by deer.

Satellite bull? Got a feeling that's a made up term. Cant imagine a mountain man coming up with that term. "Rogue" bull seems more fitting.

Why does Estes Park put up with all the Elk....simply put, it is a tourist trap ...money game...it always about money in Colorado....tourist traps in every city...been that way since the 1800's gold rush days. Back then it was women and sex and Gold and booze..

elk are prey animals and meant to be eaten.

But people are STUPID and dont care about the elk .

Wondering what would happen if the citizens got tired of it and chased them out. They really should, you know. They're a health hazard. "if an elk becomes alert or nervous and begins to move away, you're too close" Uh - that's the way it's supposed to work. They're supposed to run away from people. No, they're not tame, but the city has allowed them to become too familiar with people and they no longer fear humans. That is a recipe for disaster.

Next video, please delete the horrible and unnecessary music. I would rather just hear the animals.
