THEY’RE BOTH SO ATTRACTIVE- i revisited this and?? another couple from a children’s movie to obsess over?? film: cinderella (2015) ••• no copyright intended!!!
That’s because this movie is *actually* Cinderella but in live action form. Every other one of Disney’ live action remakes has either been a “let’s see how far our cgi can go” project or a “let’s take this beloved character and turn them into a one-dimensional mary/gary sue that never does anything wrong because we want everyone to know how inclusive we are” disappointment. I really hope they don’t mess up the little mermaid and just let ariel be ariel. I freaking love the little mermaid and am actually looking forward to the new version
@@rosecoloredbby TLM was my favorite movie as a kid. If they make it into pseudo-feminist bullshit i’m going to cry from disappointment. All the characters were marvelous as they were and they don’t need to be changed. I’d be fine with a live action “remake” that’s not actually a remake but just a different version of the story, like Cinderella was.
@@rosecoloredbby I know! Halle Bailey is adorable and has such a great voice, but I'm so worried that the film will be another cash-grab like the other remakes have been. Cinderella was the perfect balance between the original Disney movie and the modernization of Ever After, and actually seemed to be more a out making a good movie that is enjoyable for both children and adults, unlike the others which are just rehashing films that already exist for those sweet, sweet nostalgia dollars. I hope The Little Mermaid will surprise me, but I'm not optimistic based off of Disney's recent track record.
@@rosecoloredbby I think another positive that made this one the best was they also actually improved upon the story (in my opinion). And also improved upon the characters as well. In the original they felt a bit one dimensional to me, but here they felt like real people, and Ella and Kit’s relationship actually feels genuine. Whereas with all the other live actions, they’re trying to make already non-one dimensional characters, not one dimensional, so they just feel like a mess; like they’re no longer the same character, and turn more one dimensional than they started. Or they’re trying to improve upon a movie that’s already good, and all the extra stuff just feels like clutter. I think if a story and/or characters *need* improving, by all means, improve. I think Cinderella and a couple of the early princesses all were made to follow basically the exact same formula, so, in my opinion, updates were needed. Of course, that doesn’t mean make a whole new character, but they made a better Cinderella in my opinion, and without completely changing her (this isn’t including Cinderella in the sequels, since I do think they gave her more opportunity to be unique in those. This is just a comparison of how each handles her origin story). So it is possible. Which means it’s also possible to make good live actions, but when it’s something that *actually* improves upon the story and characters, or if it was already great, pays respect to its source material and to the fans of said material. Instead of, like you said, a “look what we can do” and/or “look everyone, we actually are inclusive & good people” movie. (Sorry for this being a bit long, and if it was at any point confusing. I originally went off on a tangent that I ended up feeling wasn’t necessary for this conversation, so I tried to cut it out while also keeping the same message and necessary points. + one of my opinions changed a bit while writing, so I had to add some clarification).
Their chemistry reminded me of Orlando bloom and Keira knightly from the pirates of the Caribbean movies, they just gave me the same feelings as I watched their interactions compared to watching Orlando and Keira
They made Richard go through weeks of dance training before they would let him near the dress which was probably a good move because I would absolutley step on the dress and ruin it and hate myself for the next three years and from what I know about Richard he would hate himself too
NO FOR REAL CAN WE LIKE TALK ABOUT THIS!!!! Everyone was complaining that belle and the beast in the live action version had no chemistry but Ella and Kit nailed it and no one even acknowledged that.
I’m pretty sure in the OG the Prince wasn’t there when she tried on the slipper. The king just heard him say he was in love with the girl it belonged to and immediately sent the duke to try it on everyone. But yeah, I really like that he’s here in this one and that he recognizes her!
No cause i watched this movie ready to fall in love with Lily as Cinderella but who would have known that i fell so hard for Richard Madden as Kit, love them both very much i wish i could see more movies/series of them together 💙
Do you know the most incredible thing? The way Kit looked at Elle. He wasn't looking at the fact that she was riding a horse with nothing on basically, or her dress. He looked into her eyes, listened to her voice and fell in love. Just see how happy his eyes are when he sees her. Everything else disappears, when someone looks at you like that. Disney made the best live action film and nothing beats that, and the whole scene when she appears on the stairs in blue dress with that wonderful music in the background will forever be in my dreams.
Ella's got the greatest wardrobe ever, even that dirty one they make her clean in is so darn gorgeous (they probably spent all their money on her outfits and that's why kit's pants are like that 🤪)
My favorite part is when she says "Will you take me as I am?" ("Ofcourse.") and the commentator injects "That's attractive." I don't know why it makes me laugh so much.
Ella continues to use the name Cinderella when she becomes a princess because she want to take something that was given to her horribly and make it beautiful. That’s who she is.
Out of all Disney’s attempts of making a live action, they did this one the best. I swear, I don’t understand how you could not love this movie. Is the dress blue? No it’s meant to be silver. Did they nail it though? Yes! I love this movie.
YESS EXACTLY!!! After so many adaptations and versions of the story I forgot how wonderful a TRUE story can be. This movie is magical!! How did they mess up the other ones and make this MASTERPIECE
I decided to rewatch this film a few months ago for the first time since it was in theatres, and though I may have not liked it as much as I did back then, I still believe it's the best live-action remake they have done. It really retold the story and improved on the things that had to be improved instead of copying the original animated film scene by scene. And the chemistry, oh, the chemistry. I love it how they made it clear that Ella and Kit took some time to develop their relationship and to know each other before jumping into marriage
So true. Everyone lumps all of the Disney live actions into one category saying they’re all bad, when in actuality (my opinion) this is the best adaptation they’ve made. Everything after it was a disaster. Like if they used the same energy they had for this remake with the others, there would’ve been a much better outcome.
"a lil cringe that's okay" 💀💀 no but fr i absolutely devoured every second of this movie when it came out in theaters. feel like when ppl (rightfully and justifiably) hate on disney remakes they always forget about this gem !!
I will never forgot how when I fail my exam my mom still brought me to the theaters to watch this movie because she promised we'll go after I finish my exam regardless... this movie was very great 😭😭
If you’re talking about “Blonde”, biopic is definitely not the right word. The book it’s based off of is fictional and the movie is a train wreck. Don’t even get me started on the directors comments about Marilyn. This comment by no means is attacking you, I just had to rant about that “biopic”
I first saw him as Robb in GoT. I was so pleasantly surprised to see him as Kit when I saw this movie in theaters. Light hearted roles like this one really suit him
I literally looked at my mom (who sews like unnaturally well) and told her I wanted that to be my wedding dress and she said "I'd have to start now but I can't cuz I don't know what size you'll be when you get married" 😭😭😭
@@jillrosenbaum no unfortunately I couldn't get her to make my wedding dress. She did pay for it tho and flew half way across the country to go shopping for it with me and she brought my best friend from high school to help too. It was a huge surprise and I hadn't seen her for a while since we were both in college in different states
Have you watched Bella Mae's journey to recreate the dress? She did it all by herself with lots and lots of research, filmed YT videos about it and now sells the patterns she created. If you want to have a look, whether you or you mom end up sewing the gown or not, it is really impressive!
2:56 “idk why she didn’t say ella” like same. Literally that’s the only thing that really bugs me about the movie. Like go on girl, reclaim who you really are. But ig she was trying to ask if he would even take a servant girl? But nah, I wish she said Ella cuz that would have truly shown that she broke free from the abuse
Not a movie, but they were cast as the leads in a production of Romeo and Juliet, directed by the same man who directed this film, Kenneth Branagth (sorry if I misspelled the last name).
Beautiful couple outside and in and honestly, Cinderella's personality is goals - incredibly gracious, loyal, understanding and forgiving but mentally and emotionally tough as nails :)
little ol me did not understand or expect the masterpiece that is cinderella (2015) when she looked in amazement at the disney commercial that gave a bts clip about the big blue dress with butterflies
you commented on Richard Maddens accent in the video and while I am just as in love with him as the rest of the people here I will say I live about 25 minutes from where he’s from 90% of people have a veryyyyy Glaswegian accent which is a lot more rough and colloquial than his accent but I bloody love that man my god he’s well up there
I mean you shouldn't marry someone you just met but they are both such sweet people they'll end up staying great friends either way so I think they'll be fine
i still love the disney animated one because of the charm of its animation and style but ella of live action felt more like the old animated grimm fairytale series "cinderella" that was originally in japanese and then dubbed in english later on. 💛
