Referring to the comments, he definitely filmed and released a video. He literally said in the interview in this video and I remember seeing it before they had it removed from all platforms. You can probably still find it on FB. When he released his video Ella had yet to release the video for her version. Plus it was monetized on RU-vid which is why that were able to make him take everything down. You cannot profit off of another artist’s music unless you run it by the correct people first. Probably if he didn’t have it monetized he would’ve been able to skate by without any issues.

A lot of you are not getting it... You have to look at this from not only Ella Mai's POV, but DJ Mustard's POV. Imagine you start a new record label and you discover then sign a new artist you believe in and have a vision for. You spend over a year developing that artist. Producing and arranging songs for that artist, co-writing songs with the artist, bringing in other writers and producers as well, and getting this artist's image and sound together. You finally start dropping EPs and singles, also spending money on promotion, music videos, features, traveling and touring and more, still not really recouping any money yet. Finally 1 song off the 3rd EP gets some traction, you throw more promo behind it and it snowballs into a smash hit. You drop a music video to keep the momentum going. A good 2 - 3 years of work is finally paying off. Now you need to work on a new album plus a follow up single to keep it going so they dont write your artist off as a 1 hit wonder because people will forget you in a heartbeat these days. You, the artist and a couple other writers and producers come up with more songs and decide on the follow up single. You drop it and start pushing it (which costs more money) and IMMEDIATELY another artist, who has a decent following of their own, remixes the song and puts it on Soundcloud. Then shortly after, shoots a video to their version of your song, their video director monetizes the video, they are starting to perform the song at paid shows AND radio stations are starting to play the remix (radio play generates money BTW). It all happens to fast that some people think the remix is the original. Others think it's better than yours. You didnt even get a chance to release your own video to the song yet. And all this happened without your permission. How would you feel? You think that's cool? Think of how your artist and co-writers and co-producers would feel and think about you if somebody can pretty much muscle their way onto your song, make you share the spotlight, and ride your wave you took 3 years building, whether it was intentional or not. You shutting the shyt down or you just gon let it ride and let an artist who isn't on your label run with a song that belongs to you and your artist? I don't know about yall but Im shutting that shyt down ASAP just like Mustard! Then when you shut the shyt down, tons of fans blame your artist, not you. Months later, after you had a talk with that other artist, even planned to work with them in the future, after everything is over, that artist performs the song AGAIN! 🤦🏾♂️ Now your artist feels like they need to say something since it seems your approach didn't work. It's more than just Ella Mai & Jaquees involved and connected to that song. It's not as simple as some of you think.
