Ella was a wonderful woman. I had the pleasure of hearing her sing with Count Basie on the piano...in my neighbor's living room! her voice was angelic! Count and Ella were very gracious and truly joyous people.
Ella !!! My Goddess ! When I listen to her most beautiful and unique voice, I have the goosebumps. To me she was the best and will always be. I miss her, terribly. Thank you so much for sharing these precious moments.
I could not agree more... she was, my and still is my favourite female singer within jazz.. her performance with Mel Torme ,, Goose bumps galore... Harvey Perkoff
I saw Ella in L.A. at the Music Center sometime ago matbe more than 20 years ago. She sang wonderfully, but even then she was a double-amputee as a result of diabetes. So sad. @@harveyperkoff6325
With Louis, these two were the best Scat singers ever. Saw Mel live in Manchester, UK in fifties when I was just 16 and he was wonderful. All my mates were into R and Roll but I was jazz mad and already playing drums in local gigs. Mel played piano and drums and he was a really good drummer as some videos on RU-vid will show.
Glad I got to see both of them in concert while they were still around. Ella was amazing in 1983, but had faded quite a bit by the time I saw her a second (and last) time in 1988. Torme, however, was in top form right up until the stroke that ended his career. He somehow seemed to get better with age.
Not enough accolades could describe this video. There is another video of Mel Torme and Buddy Rich doing "Love For Sale" which also honors this genre of the music I love.
I know im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Gannon Jedidiah i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
As far as Scat singing goes Ella, and Mel are the Queen, and King of Scat Singing...but it would be remiss not to mention other gifted scat singing artist such as, Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross, Eddie Jefferson, Andy Bey and the Bey Sisters, The Manhattan Transfer, Anita O'Day, Betty Carter, Carmen McRae, Joe Carroll, Joe Williams, Keely Smith, and the Father of Everything Jazz, Louis Armstrong!...There have been many other marvelous, and skilled jazz singers who have had the chops to Scat (You just have to find them)...A little humorous side note...On one of Frank Sinatra's TV specials back in the day (The 60's) he is doing a duet with Ella, and then the Incomparable Ella starts to Scat, and Sinatra takes one look at her, and he knows he's not even going to try and go there...Sinatra's quizzical face is priceless!
Could anyone explain who is the person who votes Thumbs Down for this video? Ella könnte mir die Gebrauchsanweisung für einen Mixer vorsingen und es wäre eine wunderbare Erfahrung
Rick and morty episode 'rick is too smart for school': I said that the rest of your schoolfriends are stupid thats not how you learn Things forgive the child he has a special mind he's doing great later in his life
Um, no, Ella is in a class all by herself, on the very top shelf and at the front of the line. Everyone else takes a back seat to her including Mel. Enjoy him, but he patterned his scat after Ella. Ella is the blueprint.
@@direfranchement No. I got it .... in it’s entirety. Fitzgerald knit the original pattern for scat. Torme then came along a matched her note for note. (Surely you understand that) and if there is a differing opinion (surely you would respect that also.) 👍
