The problem with this video is, it is not the whole video. The original video was a part of the serie "Top 2000 a gogo", which is broadcasted every year between Christmas and New Years Eve. In those days the Top 2000 is at a Dutch radiostation and at Dutch tv daily the Top 2000 a gogo - serie. The Top 2000 is voted by Dutch people who can vote their favorite songs of all times; the list very miscellaneous. In the tv-serie they talk about the background of the hits that are at the radiostation that day (some of the remarkable songs). In every episode they have a few of these small items about a song or artist that's part of that episode. In the serie at tv, the complete video was shown and was told about the Paradise by the dashboard light song. When I am remembering it correctly, Ellen didn't want to talk about the Meatloaf-period. So that part was covered by the reporter and was Dutch spoken. Why they cut off that part of the video? I don't know. Probably to prevent any copyright claims? Or just because that part was Dutch spoken?

It depends on what version you listening to. The Ellen sang on the studio album version. Karla sang live on stage with Meatloaf.

She was doing a lot of gigs, making it hard for her to be noticed for any one specialty talent. She was a solo pop artist, background vocalist for other acts, broadway performer. She had a brief singing cameo in the 1979 movie musical, Hair. Then she played the public defendant on Night Court before Markie Post got that role. She wasn't booted off the show. She had other gigs.

Karlas my neighbor, kinda. Shes married to Robby Benson, the actor. I love her voice too, and Ellens.

We lived at 255 W 88th in the early 80's. I bet we ran into Benny and Ellen all the time and never knew it. (Sorry for your loss.)

@@davidignatiusbalestreri1737 I heard all of that myself and didn't need anyone repeating it. My point is that other videos in this series spent more time on the song given in the title. We Belong To The Night is also in the title, but I had hoped to hear more about P.B.T.D.L. I guess that since she had nothing to do with writing P.B.T.D.L.'s lyrics, or music, she is not the person to speak to about it. But it is very odd to me that she seems to have no appreciation for the value of the song's message. Not only does she not appreciate it, it comes across as if she dissed it. I admit that the editing of this video may be responsible for giving that impression, and she may not feel that way at all herself. I'm not a Meatloaf fan per se, but that song is one of a very few that is both great musically, and has a real moral to it. I support anyone who doesn't want to be kissed every night in a performance, and think that was the right move on her part. And even though I have nothing against her, her other work is of no interest to me, and it's not nearly as significant as P.B.T.D.L. To sum up, I'm irritated about what I view as getting click baited.

Back in the day we all did that. There was no way of previewing any tracks. If you wanted to listen to the artist you had to just blindly buy the record. Oh, the memories of all the records we bought. We were huge consumers of music, unlike the kids today.

Sometimes that's not enough. You need a little bit of luck to have a long career but she did accomplish a lot.

Unfortunately, there was only room for one between her, Pat Benatar and others like Rachel Sweet. I had the first albums of all 3 ladies. Loved them all.

@@mindeyemedialab6544 Those 3 albums are all absolute classics ! .. Like you, I just love all of them .. In fact I also really liked the 2nd albums by all these 3 wonderful singers, but they weren't quite as magnificent as the debut albums .. All 3 singers should have been huge !

Yeah, the recording industry was certainly sexist in 1979. Apparently you never heard of Stevie Nicks. Pat Benatar. Olivia Newton John, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Bette Midler, Laura Branigan, Cher, Joan Jett, Tina Turner, etc, etc, etc.
