Still here in 2020! Been listing to this since 7th grade, I’m graduated now and moved out. I use to play this on my guitar . Ellie is still the same artist today always making a good tune!
It is an amazing song, true, and Ellie brings it most beautifully. But, just so no one gets confused, this song was written by The Knife, then covered by José Gonzalez on his record Veneer, in 2006. ;)
I can't believe I didn't know she did one of my favorite songs ever holy shit i love the knife and im starting to listen to more of her music and god do i love her.
The main reason I like this is the smokiness of her voice in the refrain, reminds me of Lisa Hannigan. Could only ever be a good thing. Otherwise, once a good song, always a good song? Whoever sings it? I enjoy each version, but each to their own, I can respect that :)
this actually has a similar melody to one of Ed's songs. It will only be a matter of time before they do a duet. When they do, I bet it will be incredible.
omg!i love her!!!This song nakes me sad.... :( she is soo flipping pretty. And btw: she has no photoshop n any of her pics. Her voice is soo amazing!!!!
@NicktheMick112 The original is what brought me here. I love The Knives' version, but I have to say, I enjoy this one a bit more. Gives it a more sentimental feeling. Opinions?
my god, such criticism....every frickin' celebrity, singer etc. has professional and yes, photoshopped, photos taken. Ellie is AWESOME, talented, gorgeous and a great singer!!! Enough said!
One night to be confused One night to speak of truth We had a promise made For hands and then away Both under influence We had divine sense To know what to say Mind is a razor blade To call for hands from above To lean on Wouldn't be good enough For me No One night a magic rush They start simple touch Tonight to push on the springs And then we'll leave Ten days of perfect shoes The colors red and blue We had a promise made We were in love you knew the hands of the devil You kept us awake with
She is singing it, she is playing the guitar, so it's her music. She did not write the song and yes it is a cover but it is still her rendition of the song. I.E. Her music. I also meant it on a whole, not just this song that she covered. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
