I actually think the mix could be a lot better and even though its opus251 streaming quality the high end has a very low bitrate mp3 sound. Still sounds great overall
+AaronAlso The original release was actually really good and much clearer. This version gets pretty muddy if you don't have the your system turned up nicely
As a University student I feel like there must be some proof that there is a better mix or will be, one day, YET I still think this is the best remix of all times
I agree but how the fuck does being in university mean anything for your comment? That's like saying I have 100k in my bank and this song is sick. Trying to find the relevance here lol...
Weird how when i was a kid this song felt so great, now as an adult its still just as good.. if not better!!!!! Nostalgia hits different when youre alone D:
maybe one day i’ll be able to find the words to describe what this song makes me feel but until then thank you ellie goulding and bassnectar. here’s to 10 more years
There aren’t words, maybe. Just a deeper inner knowing and feelings of nostalgia. Just hold that close to you, don’t let it go. Music is healing. This is exactly how this song makes me feel too. I understand. 🥰
I really like that Bassnectar remixes songs well, instead of just putting a bunch of repetitive and complex sounds before the "dirty" drop. They keep it simple along with keeping a lot of the vocals in, which makes this remix surpass the original.
Absolutely, this inspired my first dubstep style track 10 years ago, and I've always subconsciously tried to do the same, keeping the vocals as intact as possible. I also try to JUST listen to the vocals and build around that, rather than using the original music.
I remember exploring different spectrums and finding the root of all my insecurities when I heard this song. Im single, have more money coming in, beautiful hair, better friends, and a job that Ive truly fallen in love with. Thank you bass for diving deeper to help guys like me find inner peace. Stay safe when you go on these journeys you never know what may happen in those odd times.
Look at us all now, grown up, but still listening to tunes of the old days remembering the unreal times and nights we all had and tunes like this were the soundtrack. Hope we're all doing ok
Jan Johnston, Oceanlab and Vanessa van Hemert are every bit as good as Ellie. They may not have gotten the exposure, but they're fantastic too. I know I'm forgetting one though.
Bassnectar was the best with live shows hands down. His sets weren't just DJ sets, he mixed on the fly and made the transitions flawless. He loved Madison, WI and when the tickets sold out the first day he got a bigger venue immediately and I was front/second from the front with my friend and man the movement of 5k around us being pushed around while being the shortest people in the area was so insane. Best single show of my life.
This track reminds me of 2011 like no other :) The bass makes it far superior to the original version, this is the one they should have played on the radio.
@TheRealCozzi it depends, I always had a beer to loosen up. You can't see all the divets and terrain so you gotta be willing to do a little more on faith.
This is still my all time favorite song in existence. Thank you Bassnectar you had such a huge impact on me as a teen. Your shows were and still are amazing. Much love. ❤️🎧
I feel dumb, I use to think this was the original, I heard it once with a friend then this song came on in kroger (the actual original) and I got so pumped just to realize there was no drop...
I was in my mid 20's when this music hit. I saw him in Sac town at the peak. But this sound was a peak in my consciousness at an important time in my life. For that I will never forget Bassnectar. This is the sound of my evolution.
2011 really sent it during that era and Ellie’s song delivered such a vibe enchant. I’ll never forget the good time with friends and the fun experiences during when this song was banging
Boy.. listening to this brings back so many memories. Good and bad. Was at the peak of my addiction to cathinones when this came out, was in a shitty and abusive relationship, lost my best friend and ex to an overdose, but I also was at my peak and felt so alive every EDM event I went to. The music was so powerful. I miss it and loathe it all at once. What a strange experience. Still love the music, though, it was always about the music. The drugs and "friends" unfortunately just came with the territory. I both long for you and hate you 2010-2012.
This 100% mirrors my life at that time as well. Crazy how we are two completely different people with such similar experiences and memories attached to this song.
This remix will always be special to me. Reminds me of a time I made a change in my life for the better. I pushed myself down greater paths of greatness. Will always cherish this song, the memories and all the friends I made along the way. The late nights drives with this blasting in my Jeep. Hearing Bassnectar drop this at 2011 Shambhala in the Village. It brings back nothing but good feels and that is the power of music. To everybody I ever crossed paths with and wherever life takes me. This one is for you, for me and the stars in the Universe's sea! ♡
The nostalgia from this song is incredible. Gives me memories of last minute party’s and excessive drinking… but my gosh what I’d give to be that age again.
I remember listening to this song when I was working a job a couple years back thinking in months I’d be enjoying this masterpiece in a new car of my own & now I’m set up for that & will have this car in months…..plan executed. Lights always shinning ty God👏🏻✝️💜
RIP the homie Knowso! He was a good dude. This track reminds me of him. He was smooth w/ gloving at raves and house parties. When a bunch of old friends moved from NorCal to SoCal to go to college him, a few fellas, and a bunch of females all moved to SoCal, that’s how we all met. Years later, he moved back to NorCal…I get the news that he passed away in his sleep. RIP old friend. One of the downest ppl I’ve ever met in my younger days.
I saw this shit live 5 rows back when we bum rushed the concert late night and they let us in free. I did crazy ass things in my 20s. The best times. RIP to all my friend's who died. I'd give anything to go back and to bring back those times.
God**** her voice is beautiful. Was never a huge fan of 90% of dubstep (mostly metal and rap) but ones like this, very particular songs, im still playing in 2024. This came out probably the year after high school for me. 2009 im guessing? Not sure but fun times those days were.. Such a sick remix
This trapper slapper clapper is still chain gang bangin my eardrums with pure filthy drops and epic sound quality. 2021 Bassnectars music is still beautiful and timeless! I am sorry for anyone who has never had the opportunity to enjoy the pure ecstasy of sound waves caressing your cerebral cortex til' your endorphins rush through your veins while your beating heart syncs with the musical serenity of this masterpiece. Hail Bassnectar.
Oh wow, 8 years ago How am i finding this now? this remix is 10x, no 1000x better than the original, and i love the orignal. I'm happy i found this, thanks youtube comments on another remix!
I dig how this remix doesn't hide behind a long and intense bass drop. Don't get me wrong there's a time and place for that- but the melody really lets this one shine. Awesome
Remember listenin to this for the first time as a freshman at coastal carolina, 9 years later and laying next to my 4 year old son listenin again, time flies.
Over a decade and this track still buring hot. Anytime Bassnectar remix a track, it always turns out better and that 808 def going to drop hard. I miss the golden ages.
This will increase your mental health and memory and feeling by 40% over a period of time keep playing it and feel the same as you did the first time ever . 🙏 trick the mind into the past and you will live forever ♾️
When I was a teen I would smoke a blunt and lay down in the couch and just let the music float me. It’s been about 10 years since the last time I heard this it’s crazy!! Best times ever!
I was in a f*cking bad move when a really good friend help me to get my head out of water and I discovered Bassnectar because of her. Good memories here... More than ten years later, nostalgia hit hard.
I never actually listened to the original song when it came out. I think I may have heard it once or twice a few months ago, and I thought it was creative, beautiful, and imaginative. The singing and the instrumentals seem mystical and dream-like, to a certain degree. But this remix, though. This remix is amazing. Since I haven't heard the original version in so long, I can't really compare the two and say which is better, but they're both captivating in their own way. This remix is truly amazing and I've been listening to it on repeat for about an hour or so now. I would love to find an instrumental version of the remix. This beat is so epic.
Saw this live at Spring Awakening Chicago and then at Freaky Deaky as well and for a new year's event as well mannn let me tell you! First Bassnectar even at Spring awakening 2013 was a once in a lifetime experience you had to be there
