Today is Fri., March 01, 2024. For as long as I live, I will never, EVER forget Elliott Yamin; THIS, or ANY of his performances. He is by far the most superb singer EVER to grace the American Idol stage.💗
He was so special! He proved to be a singer's Singer. Paula was right. This is a really challenging piece to sing! But as usual, he nailed it!!❤ where is he now?
I was just thinking about it this afternoon, and there’s a version on Spotify, which was professionally recorded with the other finalists, but I specifically came to RU-vid to find this rendition, which I remember, just like the rest of us I’m biased also because I’m a professional jazz musician and I happen to love this music, I remember being incredibly shocked when I heard him sing this and then even more shocked when I heard him nail every single note and rhythm, especially with his tone and style Absolutely fantastic musician !
It's 2023 and I just met Yamin at an intimate jazz concert in a Presbyterian church by NE Tacoma, Washington. Such a lovely person who let me chat him up, and smiled patiently as I selfied 10 pics with him.
vocals & voice OMG, YES!! But Daughtry was the real winner of that season. The dude has great vocals, great voice and was VERY charismatic. Elliot though had just a beautiful voice, absolutely has a gift!!!
I bought his first 2 CDs. I felt he didn't have good managers or whoever the people are who help an artists have the career they deserve .the song choices didn't allow him to be heard like other similar artists. Wish some record company would work with him now. I still & always will love soul & r&b etc. he's got it.
Elliot, I miss you!❤ I'll never forget watching you on Idol. You were my favorite from the beginning. Women all over fell in love with you when they heard you sing Moodys Mood for Love. I did and im so happy to find this on UTube. Make more music for us. We have not forgot you. I still love hearing you sing. Keep it up.
My wife and I met Elliot when he visited Tokyo following his burst of fame on American Idol. We met him by chance outside Avex studios where he had a recording session. A great vocalist and an even better gentleman and human being.
Fucking STELLLAR Performance OMG!!! Brilliant Singer. God Bless and where are you now!?? Please be blessing us with Music!! You're a seriously brilliant and phenomenal, classic singer!!!!
it's 2021. I just remembered there was this one kid from a TV Show that sang this song so beautifully. Here I am. So thankful this vid still exists. I searched: "moodys mood for love tv show*
A great song from one of the greatest jazz players ever and certainly one of the nicest people I have ever met. A brilliant brilliant vocal. Simplicity done well can still be genius. This performance is all of that and then some. This is certainly in the top 5 vocals I have ever heard on Idol.
Best singer I've ever heard on this show, period! Also want to add that Simon gives away the LOW overall quality of that show when he says "you can't win this contest with a song like that". Really? Maybe he's right, because most people listening have NO idea what they just heard - an AMAZING singer who just EFFORTLESSLY nailed one of the most difficult tunes to sing in the jazz vocal category.
Fantastic!! This is the kind of material Elliot should be doing but with better arrangements! Wake up!! The jazz world is hungry for new male vocalists!! He could rule!
I still have not found another man, in my opinion, that can sing like this one... anytime someone asks me who is the best male artist, I’m going straight to him, even over Paola
Wow! Elliott, you really killed it. One of my favorite songs and a lot of people have "Tried to sing it" , But you are up there at the top in my book. Keep going and it's a sure thing that you will be going on to bigger and better things. From a huge FAN of yours.
Omigosh I remember this when it initially aired. We watched this performance multiple times cause we were thoroughly impressed. I loved his rendition of the song. We hadn’t watched American idol in years though.
When real talent has to be approved by mediocrity.... and no ma’am, James Moody wrote it. Actually the chord changes are the same as I’m in the mood for love, but that’s besides the point, Elliott, you will always be one of the biggest losses in this industry. You should have won.
