The meanings are basically the same but the article that goes before the noun is important. If you use "a" or "an," use the pronoun "one." If you use "the," use the pronoun "it." "I can't afford a new watch." = I can't afford one. "I can't afford the new Tissot watch. = I can't afford it. Hope that helps!
