I had the same problem, with two different ELM327 Bluetooth adapters. I was able to get it connect to Torque this way. In Settings in Torque click on OBD2 Adapter Settings and try turning on Disable ELM327 auto timing adjust, then exit all the way out of Torque, restart, and it finally connected and worked fine. It's worth a try, it worked for me. If that doesn't work try toggling the other connection parameters in the Settings/OBD2 Adapter Settings screen. Good luck, y'all car nuts!
Dear friend thanks, You help me to solve my problem with my OBD II device, I was suffering from the same problem and I have read your comments, I have Toyota Corolla 2014, I m using Torque after advice I install Car Gauge started to work so I released that It is sure software problem not hardware after that I discovered that I have already another app which was installed in my car DVD It is call OBD and it work very nice in this moment I removed all other app and kept Torque and started work again
My OBD was connecting with all other aps but having same problem with Torque pro. I removed the car profile and created a new one with default setting, it worked
You pays your money and take your chances. I bought one with Proscan branding and it worked fine (BMW) . I then bought one that looks exactly like the one in the video as I wanted to leave it in but be able to switch it off to stop battery drain warnings. Would not connect to the ECU.
It depends on the car. You need to check if your car is compatible with universal OBD2 readers... My example was that I had 2000 Renault Clio and it didn`t connect to its ECU because Clio needed Renault Can Clip diagnostics. However, it works fine with my 2007 Astra...
I have a 2013 Ford Grand C-Max 2,0 TDCI PowerShift that reported in the display in my car that my Tyre-pressure-control system was faulty and that the hill assist didn´t work. I then purchased an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter to check for error codes, and I had the EXACT same problem. It connects with the Android phone but cannot connect and communicate with the ECU of the car. The seller of the adapter told me that once the error code is already there, those models sometimes have trouble connecting to the ECU - but that is a quite funny answer, because most people are actually buying those adapters, coz they have "Check engine"-light on already and want to know what is "broken". The seller now offered me to swap it to an adapter either with WiFi or with USB-connector. I will try with the one with USB-connector and hope it then works. It is quite annoying that there is so much trouble with those OBDII-adapters because now I need to send back the Bluetooth-adapter and wait until the USB-model arrives. And it takes a lot of waiting time every time :-(
Make sure its set up and sees obd-2 device in the bluetooth setting on your PHONE, then make sure its setup and sees it in the APP bluetooth settings (the bluetooth device is selected). I used Torque lite (which is free) and can see data when the ignition power is on (coolant temp etc.) and when the engine is running (rpms, vacuum pressure, timing, etc.).
Same with generic cheapo from Lazada (blue clear body same type), it looks like they didnt get all the protocols required to talk to HONDA CITY and NISSAN pickups in the microcode, on Android I tried many popular softwares taking care to re boot and take out and reinsert dongle, blutooth connects but after a long while some software reports missing protocols, ie, the comms interface works but protocols neccesary to talk to ECUs on the CAN bus are missing. I paid 149 Thai Bhat a couple of USD, so sadly in-the-bin. Thank you for your video :-)
Hello, the first thing is to link the bluetooh adapter to the mobile phone, second in the application that you want to use for example Torque free or Pro or whatever, there you also have to configure the means of communication because it has usb, wifi and bluetooth , this latter is selected, then the mac address of the bluetooh linked to the phone is selected below. This is how it works with all or most of me I have a ford and a toyota and it works perfectly. If it comes out that you can not communicate with the ECU as mentioned above and use one of the workshop a professional scanner and no obtubo communication IS DAMAGED OR FAILED OBD2 BUS, something very common in false connections or bad installations or loose connectors, third can be the adapter failure itself. I have 3 different models, one version V1.5 and the other V2.1 ELM and one of the last ones has internal failures in its electronica that means that adapter arrived defective
If it doesn't work you've probably installed a aftermarket radio in your car. This radio puts 12 volt on a black wire in the harness that suppost to have less then 9 volt. Cut this wire and the adapter will work. (k4 wire)
I have the same problem.but the thing is,,, i'v even try a 5000 dolars scanner and it still says. can't communicate with ECU. the question is. how we can find out THE WHY IT'S NOT TALKING TO ECU??
Not adaptor issue, app issue Dec never fixed. Been like this for years. Tried contacting him, nothing back. Playstore need to take it down if it's fault. Beta it should be. Test only and free, Free app is the same so test before purchasing
the adapter must be compatible with the specific cars obd2 protocols! every manufacturer uses different ones and most cheap obd2 adapters don't cover many protocols. check with your manufacturer then make sure the obd2 adapter your buying is compatible with the protocol! this is important. the adapter from bafx products covers them all! it's a few more dollars (about 20$). well worth it.
same problem. no ecu connection on suzuki swift 2004 and toyota innova g 2016 but can connect and diagnose with honda fit 2006 and chevrolet captiva 2015 any fix?
If any one is still having problems with the elm 327 not connecting to ecu install Car Guage pro and use the protocol "14230-4(fast init) it worked for me
Hi! I got the same item and sw from Aliexpress today. Torque pro version 1.8.16 for Android. Same failure with my y2002 Citroen Berlingo HDi, :-( Any ideas?
They give you a clone ODB2 . For,sure that is clone... It will connect to your cellphone but it cannot read your ECU even to try in other car still same problem.
sorry to inform you all that OBD II will never connect with many Japan''s Nissan and Toyota vehicles , the OBD II will only connect with the American spec vehicles..... IF you would like to connect to your Japan's vehicles then you would need to purchase a Nissan Consult OBD I adapter (NDS I Bluetooth) or Nissan Consult OBD 2 adapter (NDS I Bluetooth) it depends on which one your vehicle supports
It's the same my problem I use many obdii I don't know it's not working with my vehicle it's no reason to not work it's not reading my computer car it's a Honda accord 2005
the elm 327 specially the blue one is just a piece of crap, it works for a couple of months and suddenly it cannot connect to ecu and even worse it's unreadable for the phone
Total lie that it supports all protocols, plain and simple. Open the casing and it's missing parts and pin connections needed for your vehicle. Chances are it will work on newer or other brand of car. pinoutsguide.com/visual/gen/honda_obd_2.jpg
