He doesn't say "we can't do it" he says "The likely outcome is failure" He doesn't say "It would be impossible to run two companies at once" he says "it would be a lot of work" Really depends on your outlook to determine what you can and can't do.
Dude, this guy has been my hero for like 4 or 5 years now. He is the reason I'm going into engineering! Probably one of my favorite quotes from him goes something like this: "You shouldn't do something just because that's how it's always been done; you should do things because that's the best way to do them." Incredible, incredible man.

He is just unstoppable. This guy has inspired me the most. He's the reason I got unending interest and curiosity physics & space science. LOVE you Elon. Thanks for everything. ❤🚀🌌
Great interview. Kevin Rose does a fantastic job of asking questions and letting Elon respond. He does an artful job of evoking Elon into telling the story and stays out of the way. Good job. I want to hear him do another interview of Elon in the future as time and Tesla grow up.
Agreed. I've seen many Musk interviews and usually the journalists have clear done no research on their subject which is just so rude and disrespectful but Musk is always so gracious and patient with their ignorance and laziness
He is a great inspiration for young entrepreneurs and students. Actually one of the top role models for startups and businesses.I like his simplicity and attitude towards others. KEEP IT UP SIR.
I think this is one of the best interview done with Elon Musk. It's candid and hence unearths a lot of useful insights from the mind of Elon Musk. Well done @Kevin Rose!
Did you surround yourself with mentors? Who did you look to for advice? EM: "I read a lot of books and talk to lots of people" " I always look for feedback from people around me"
Awes🌠🔥💥ome and inteligent and speech so beautiful from interview to others!Best Industrialist of 21th Century❤🤩🆕️Tesla is First and only on the World🚘🪬📸🌏
I concur. One guy bringing tons of positive change and disrupting bloated and unhealthy industries. He is an inspiration for all the rest of us who want to make this world a better/saner/safer/healthier place
Elon Musk will be man of the Century. He might be the most creative human since Beethoven and I'm happy that such a mind has the chance to make his vision a reality.
I honestly was unaware that Elon was the founder of PayPal. I will now start using it again, as I will ALWAYS support a fellow like-minded libertarian with great business practices.
Actually, Elon admitted that the way PayPal is going now, is really bad. It is still the way it was when he sold it, it even still has the same scripting errors he made and never got around to fix. You won't be supporting Elon by using PayPal one bit. You do support him by buying Tesla stocks!
DeSjeft I actually made that comment while still uninformed about the fact that Elon sent out emails thanking people for supporting the stimulus. He is no libertarian.
Too short, Elon sounds like an incredibly smart and creative thinker, would love to hear much more on his thoughts on the automotive industry, battery development and just the world in general.
VERY inspirational. Key point--seek negative feedback! Keep your ego in-check and listen to critics and be sure those issues are dismissed or dealt with. What a humble, personable guy! I became an aero-nut when I was a kid on Kwajalein watching ABM launches in the late 60's... I'd love to be a part of team SpaceX (you've got a great future ahead of you) but instead will remain a cheerleader and watch your accomplishments. New-grads and areo-nuts get on board with thes guys!!
By far, Kevin Rose is one of the best interviewers I've seen - he's sincerely and genuinely inquisitive and he LISTENS. He doesn't inject his opinion or his own commentary-I wanted to hear more from Elon Musk and Rose elicited that out. Great examples was when he asked what books Elon read and an example of reasoning from first principles.
You can tell Elon is genuinely moved by the vigil that the EB1 costumers had for the discontinuation of the car. This is the reflection of a man who's truly inspired by technology and it is apparent in his companies which are highly successful in what they do.
Thanks Kevin, your epic!! Get Elon again, you two naturally are comfortable w/ each other, which make an interview WORTH listening to!! That ,Folks,is HOW you running interview(kudos Kevin!❤) LEARN FROM THIS DL😮. Looking forward to this guy's future interviewsA Natural!! PHEW.🫡🤝..!! Thank you,God. Inspiring!! Peace prayer❤✝️!!
How does this podcast only have 365K views? this podcast has so much knowledge in it! its was great to see what Elon was like in the early ages of Tesla and his other companies!
I could`nt agree more with your well thought out comment. Its the first iv`e seen of Kevin Rose but it will not be the last. You nailed it when you say that he LISTENS,for sure he does and as a result of this, the interview flowed so well. Keep well and please keep posting comments. Sincerely JF ( UK )
I love the way his mind works. Gotta admit that the idea of asking friends what they don't like about your product/service is excellent advice for new entrepreneurs. Gotta develop some thick skin to succeed as one.
Elon is awesome, thank you for this great interview Kevin! :) it is so sad that this kind of videos have such a low rate of views compared to lady gaga/rihanna( you name it) videos :(
Elon Musk is such an inspirational person and you can see how much passion he has for his ideas from this video. Also interesting was that around 12:15, he describes General Motors killing their electric car ignoring the wishes of the car owners and he seems to get emotional to the point where his voice cracks.
"Elon. You promise you're not going to wear a black shirt and jeans? Last time we were both wearing the same thing and it was really embarrassing." "Yes, Kevin. I promise."
"Ok! I must have, I must have put a decimal point in the wrong place or something. Shit. I always do that. I always mess up some mundane detail." -Office Space (1999) From avoiding program failures to space explosions, I bet Musk is a precise person. He's like the president of technology.
This was so great. I hope one day Kevin interviews me. Assuming aomeone will fork the VC funding, already have investors in other aspects of the company
His biggest strength is thinking big and not being intimidated. And of course a significant amount of intelligence to pull it of. Spacex is quite impressive and has the best business potential although there is the volatile element that ET visitation to earth is real and he's flirting with confronting the evil secrecy regarding that. Not sure how he would handle that. At Tesla however I think he overlooks optimization to the point of bankruptcy. Most profound mistake is the 2.1ton of the model S
I wish this interview was as in-depth as the other ones. Elon's such an interesting and important entrepreneur that he really deserved more time. That said, it seemed as though it was Elon that was short on time... unsurprising!
I REALLY want Tesla to make a basic Sedan, or Prius style hatchback, (the cheapest/most aero dynamic design he can make) that will comfortably seat 4 people who are 6'6" and has heated leather, power windows/locks, cruise control and remote entry. Cut costs everywhere else, I don't need a damn computer in my car. I don't even want rim's larger than 16", tires cost too damn much and because of the short sidewall shitty roads feel even worse. I wonder if THAT would get the price of an electric car down to the point where I could actually afford one. I think it would.
Elon is literally the best anyway I agree. Anyway advice for entrepreneurs 21:06 this is not right/ I never ask for negative feedback and infact respond very firmly and harshly to negative feedback and everyone in my life is very nice to me even if I am unemployed and have no friends at the moment. This means the people who stayed are unconditional and I may gaslight them forever. This is a good deal for me as I have loose morals.
