Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway discuss Elon Musk's drug use and the repercussions for his businesses, then get some medical insights on ketamine from Kara's brother, Dr. Jeffrey Swisher. #elonmusk #pivot #podcast
I could remember several years ago I suffered from severe depression and mental disorder. I was addicted to illicit pills, alcohol, and smoking until I was recommended for psilocybin mushroom treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly I'm 8 years clean now. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against anxiety and depression.
To be honest, mushrooms are one of the most amazing things on the planet and it is natural, they serve in many ways not only for mental related issues.
Can you help me with a reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. It is very hard to get a reliable source here in New Zealand. Really need!
Yes, Sporeville. I had the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction... Mushrooms definitely made a huge difference to why I'm clean today.
I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He's 59 & has many mental health issues plus probably CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD knows if it is common for an obsession with violence.
Overpromising, and under delivering; rockets that don’t work; autonomous drive that drives into pedestrians; a “truck” that is a death trap for those in and around it; but it’s the DRUG use that has everybody worried!?!?
Name one self driving company that has best Tesla. Spacex is the only US made rocket that works. All the other defense companies use Russian tech to launch payloads. The USA needs Russia to launch satellites. The USA lost the space race and then outsourced to Russia after the cold war. Rocket launches kept going up in price since the 1960’s. The only technology that got more expensive over 60 years.
Didn't he just recently put a neuralink into a human? It's weird I know that happened in the last couple weeks but there haven't been any updates lol Maybe they should all take a step back away from the human brains for a minute and attend a couple N. A. Meetings. 🤷🤦♀️
The Drug use could be creating those effects. And I feel sorry for the man, not the billionaire, because Scott is right - it developing into a cautionary tale, with the common theme of "Be Cateful What You Wish For".
@@BigHenFor Scott and Kara are establishment shills. Scott was a covid tyrant. Smart people use drugs to get any advantage they can get. ketamine, adderall, beta blockers you name it. The system is hammering down on Elon Musk.
Ketamine’s use in a clinical setting under a doctor’s supervision is worth a try if you suffer from depression. It doesn’t work for everyone but many claim to experience relief. Another option outside of medication is TMS, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. It’s not electroshock. It’s an in-office procedure where you sit in a chair and magnetic pulse are used to stimulate parts of the brain. It’s given over a number of sessions and might be covered by insurance. It is also being studied for use with some people on the autism spectrum.
I had Ketamine treatment for depression back in late 2022. It's expensive, and wasn't covered by my insurance. It was 500 dollars per infusion, and I had a total of 7. It's a pleasant experience, but it didn't really help ease my depression any. It also left an annoying hangover-like feeling afterwards. I'd recommend trying other more cost-effective treatments first before exploring this route. To me, the lack of long term studies on its efficacy coupled with the high costs make it at present a treatment of last resort.
As someone who experienced drug culture in my young adulthood, 20 years ago, it has been obvious to me that he has a major drug problem for a while. Silicon Valley being so into all sorts of drugs is weird. That's stuff you get out of your system in your college years. Keeping on doing it into your 30s and beyond is idiotic, and a recipe for a terrible outcome At a certain point, you learn all you can from psychedelics, and you should move to meditation. Cocaine = cardiovascular problems. Weed is just bad for longterm cognition and motivation (and high blood pressure)
"That’s just coffee for me by the way, but with OF COURSE artisanal beans handcrafted by elves from some magical roastery one of these tech squires insisted on funding." - Druggie Dyke
In my experience every substance use comes with trade-offs,and the same holds true with any repetitive non-substance use. It is very difficult to calculate those,
Had ket for a spinal tap as a kid. This was my experience… I was watching Toy Story on the hospital monitor just thinking everything was normal, then slowly it felt like the world I was living in was just a dream. Then in my head I miniaturized to the size of tinker bell and I’m not kidding you, grew wings and flew around the room and looked at myself in the hospital bed in the third person. Wild drug, never done it recreationally. From my experience I assume it’s like entering your own dreams at will. I’ve met some people who smoke ket and they just hit a little bit all day. These tech guys are prob not too far off.
There is a point that’s being missed in this discussion. Musk’s opinions about SSRIs and Ketamine are worth nothing. You are all forgetting that you are listening to him because he is rich, not because he’s qualified. Musk speaks of ketamine as if it comes in a known dose, when he knows it’s just stuff people are taking based on their own experience. (I’m not talking about ketamine clinics.) And again, Musk has no basis for asserting anything about SSRIs. He’s not a doctor or researcher. He’s rich. That doesn’t convey any credibility. He didn’t start Neurolink and knows nothing about the brain. I can own a supermarket but that doesn’t make me an expert in food additives. Nor does it make me a nutritionist. The half of this conversation that is responding to musk’s opinion suffers from two things. One, it isn’t his opinion on the efficacy of medication that was the topic. The topic was his possible abuse of drugs and his fiduciary responsibilities. Second, you got distracted by his opinion of medical ketamine for depression ONLY BECAUSE HE’s RICH. Snap out of it. You’re reinforcing a horrible presumption, and that is that people who are rich are by definition more knowledgeable and intelligent than experts in the field. Please stop doing that. It’s a modern mental error and you are making it right now.
@@OutOnTheTiles So true. I respect the people in this conversation, they are very smart. But for just a few moments they gave possible credence to musk’s assertion about SSRIs. Musk might even be right, but just from luck. My opinion is worth as much as his, which is zero. That problem exists in so many areas, politics, climate, vaccines, statistics, etc. No matter our opinion on vaccines, if all I know comes from the internet, I’m not really qualified. I actually do know how the MRNa vaccine works, but I learned it on the internet. I would not assert anything based on that.
Kara thanks for this post, your brother was greatly informative! What is wrong with the gate keeper's where clinic based drugs end up being used for recreation.
There are drugs that can be used in a careful research based protocol to help treat a range of psychiatric disorders. Wandering around randomly doing ketamine is incompatible with health goals, grossly irresponsible, and hazardous. People doing stupid things are a barrier to those who could benefit from using these same drugs for badly needed treatments.
A naïve thought experiment, but I recently wondered what if Musk simply started over? My guess is that his ego wouldn't let him walk away from his many responsibilities. Nonetheless, Musk got where he was - and from what I’ve seen, thrived - by self-imposed huge challenges. Reinvention turned out quite well for Steve Jobs...
I love you both … but you just made the case for recreational use of k over alcohol. Assuming you are snorting it, the impact is shorter than most other drugs, sounds like it has few side affects other than liver. much healthier than alcohol? While on it you are impaired for 30-45 minutes. I am way more worried about his diet than drug use.
It would probably be really difficult for the erratic, despotic, wealthiest man in the world to “pass” regular drug tests at the company that he owns - if what he says is even true.
So sad. Such a brilliant and creative mind….the wealthiest man in the world, and he’s isolated and totally lonely. Interesting the extent his mother accompanies him to events.
There are ways "around" the vast majority of drug tests, especially if they are unsupervised which tends to be the case for the majority of non-criminal drug tests. Far too often people think of drug testing as some sort of actual catch all, when in reality I think of it more as an IQ test. I'm not by any means trying to condone rampant drug abuse, but I compared to Europe I think the US needs to "relax" the extent of drug testing we do.
SICK! You guys started a RU-vid channel! I absolutely love listening to you both, and I feel like I was living under a rock for not discovering either of you sooner. Thanks for the countless hours of thoughtful interviews, commentary and dick jokes. Love ya guys.
And how many government contracts does hunter biden have. Oh yes, Zero. How many times is Hunter Biden promoting himself on Social Media? How many times has Huntee Biden called his employees pedophiles? How many children does Hunter Biden have? Certainly not 11. Your focus on Hunter Biden says so much more about you than anything else. Its like the voting machines, and the rest of the flannel. It's becoming white noise.
I usually really like the show but rehassing the weed, and baseless speculation doesn't seem your style. He said he was tired, and until we have evidence to the contrary give him a break, everyone has a bad day.
So, I'm not a Musk fan, but the tack Kara is taking by vilifying Musk's ketamine and pot use is both ineffective and pointless journalism, and fuels a cultural rejection of a drug that is very beneficial and life-saving. Do better, Kara. And thank you Scott for pushing back. Ketamine as an MNDAR antagonist might actually heal Musk of his darker tendencies. If you want to criticize Musk, how about exposing the harm that his, or anyone's,governance
oops, my comment got truncated....How about exposing Musk for his lack of governance and accountability in co-opting and undermining our space program; he could be cooperating with NASA which has been a source of national pride since it's inception. Instead, he's fueling christo-fascist and white supremist domestic terrorism, South Africa style, to foment division and ultimately destroy our country. He is using the freedoms in this country to take it down from the inside. Murdoch did the same thing with his media take over which has single-handedly fueled a cultural civil war in the US, and potentially worse. Do Better, Kara.
That kind of power in the hands of a private citizen (also an invader from outside the US) is terrifying. Do you think for 5 seconds that he is going to use his space program to defend or even support the US if needed? Oh, hell no. He will sell to the highest bidder. He has no loyalty to this country. He is only using the US to gain unchecked power, and he will never cede that power.
Listen to the interviews kara has done elon she sounds bitter and is more interested in getting her points across than listening or getting in a zinger . Now he won't get interviewed by her she has turned and makes videos to trash him, what a surprise a journalist trying to take someone down.
Where's the evidence of a material problem with ANY of his businesses based on these accusations? Gtfoh. Dude is literally trying to help stop overprescription of ssris
Where do they get this rubbish and who cares. Are they shorting his stock? This guy is on the edge of insanity which is common for people who are brilliant. You're concerned about his "party life", what because your life is boring and normal and you want or demand that his life be the same or less! Look I noted very early on in his carrier that his behaviour was occasionally manic. Believe it or not I invested in him early because I classified him as a high achiever for that reason. He will always have manic episodes with episodes of depression. Who are you people to judge someone else?
Get another hobby outside of stalking Elon Musk. You still don’t get views. Ketamine is legal and an amazing therapeutic medicine. Demonizing someone for their personal choices is pathetic.
