I agree. There are so many accounts of chilling and vile parents that harm or throw out their children, who come out. My best bud was thrown out and came to live with me, because his parents abused him and cut him off. He didn't even have a boyfriend, he just shared how he felt about guys. You think this stuff doesn't still happen, it does. Lots of wicked parents who only love their children when they conform to their religious beliefs. It's very sad indeed.

@@billsherman1565 In the schools where it's not a fad to switch genders and pronouns every so often, the teacher may learn about a big change such as this and doesn't understand that this child is now being bullied on the play ground and abused on the way to and from school. These incidents can lead to further violence, suicide and will definitely create permanent psychological scars if not attended to quickly. The teacher, no matter how nice, is not aware of what happens outside the very short time the child is in the teacher's classroom. In our world today. when you see something, you say something, as a life may depend on it. That's for overall security not just that related to terror.

@@billsherman1565 It interferes with parental authority because the schools are now determining what information about your child they are going to share with the parents what they arent. Its not their job to decide what to share and what not to share, its their job to educate and report any potentially concerning conditions to the parents. No matter how you feel about the issue, pro or against the parents need to be made aware so that they can do what they think is best for the child. Whether that's just wait and observe, have a discussion, or try to create an avenue for the child to ask questions about these feelings.

If a parent is abusive in the traditional sense by beating the child, the teacher has an obligation to contact authorities to investigate if in fact it is true. True? True in the sense that they are throwing away their primary duty as a parent to protect and care for their child. That’s what laws should be for; to align incentives & punishment for truth, goodness, and safety to be in line with freedom, responsibility, and absolute morality. The teacher is always lower than the parent but the appeal should go to our government that has promised to only be above the parents if that government remains under God to do what is right for the child and the parents in very limited circumstances. To protect the child but to help restore the familial relationship of that child with its family if possible (I.e., rehabilitation, observed custody, specific & limited financial support, counseling, etc.). But all the lunacy you’re seeing today is because of this society walking away from God. And they walked away because of many anecdotal stories about supposed Christians abusing their authority and distorting what it means to have an ordered, moral, and just society. People mistook evil among superficial Christians to believe that God was not worth following or not true. But now we’re seeing how people don’t even know what is right in absolute terms and the state is flexing its authority as the final arbiter of all moral questions. The govt is your god in California whether you like it or not.

Hey, I'm in my sixties, rich after a successful career, married and I'm post op trans. Living without gender dysphoria after hrt and surgery saved my life. I had dysphoria from the time I hit puberty, and a female gender identity before kindergarten. Nothing in the world made me this way other my own biology, but I'm sure glad gender affirming medical care was available. That was the only thing that worked to remove the dysphoria and the depression it causes. I was fortunate to have parents more concerned for my well being than they were with what conservatives think about trans people, but other trans kids are not so lucky, if they don't get the help they need many of the true trans kids never get to become adults.

But if you are in your 60's We are pretty sure you had all those surgical changes AFTER you left school and were an adult, because 40 years ago they were not allowing these surgeries for children. Not even in CA. Once a child reaches 18, they can live any lifestyle they like, get any surgery they want. That's what parents and conservatives want; allow the child to grow up before deciding. It is completely out of control. I have been talking to non woke teens and they are disgusted by what is going on. They feel like they aren’t getting a good education and that many of their peers are mentally unstable.

The teacher only knows about what goes on in the short time the child is in the class. The parent deals with the other 23.5 hours in the day. Do you really want a child to be physically or mentally injured or God forbid, killed?

So from Vinay's interpretation, the bill only applies for isolated children for whom the teacher is further isolating them from their parents, AND those teachers and their schools are not liable for whatever outcome occurs. Sounds like it's providing protection for grooming children.

Can you describe what you object to? - what is on display in the adult regular sections or at eye level for young children to pick up. I'm in Australia and haven't been in a kids library in decades so wouldn't know.

Some school districts in California are closing schools because they no longer have enough students to keep them going. At least one is in the LA area as well, probably more than one, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Home schooled is a danger to society, as it creates ideal conditions to condition a child into believes that can make him a danger to society. It should therefore not be outlawed, but the schools should really think about why that happens and what they can change to make the parents make the children go to school again. To function in this society, you must learn to communicate with peers, other children.

Trans kids become very depressed if they can't find help with their dysphoria, and depression can lead to suicide. The only question really is just how much suicide in youth is unattributed to gender dysphoria because the child does not feel anyone can be trusted to talk about their feelings?

We are expected, sometimes implied and sometimes stated, to hide things from parents. I had a student change names and pronouns 4 times in one school year and I was expected to play along and keep up, and then pretend it wasn't happening when talking to her grandparents. They weren't abusive. They were very concerned about her mental health and the trauma she had experienced. They were seeking help and counseling for her. But the school was undercutting their authority. That situation was unique with the four changes, but I've been told numerous times to hide things from parents. I refuse. I don't want to alienate a student who is struggling. I don't want them to hate me because then I can't have any positive influence on them. I will, to the best of my ability, use what they request. But I will not go behind parents' back and lie to them.

Many parents are a danger to their child's health because they can't see beyond their own beliefs and punish the child for talking about something they are experiencing that conflicts with those parental beliefs.

I always thought this was a tell. If the data was good, I think he'd have spoken in support of gender affirming care without fear of being canceled or attacked. The State government should only intervene if there is clear evidence that a policy causes harm. But as Vinay mentioned, we’re lacking scientifically sound studies demonstrating how schools should work with students who have gender dysphoria. So I don’t support the State telling schools what policies they can and cannot enact.
