Right after I watch this movie when I was in town I saw five ALL white Teslas driving around. It actually made me jump and have to look to see if there is drivers.
Elon knows exactly what’s going on. He’s very smart and I work in film and know that companies big companies always ask to read the script scenes that their product is going to be used in. There’s no way this film production used those Testa’s in this way without getting prior approval and release forms signed.

Simple..... Teslas don't need satellite/internet to operate in general. The neural network could have been compromised before the last OTA & all satellites/Internet went down. After that the vehicles can operate just fine or by compromised software.

FYI, from a technology perspective, all of the Tesla self driving processing is done locally on the chip inside the vehicle, and the internet is just for updates. In a car like Waymo, however, there are remote drivers that can take over so the driving is networked and it would be possible with those hypothetically
The cars in the movie weren't driving by internet though. It was made clear that the internet and all wireless services were disabled. It's more likely that they would push an update to the firmware/software of all the cars on a dealership lot to drive them towards specific pre-programmed locations.

@MathGPT It's not that far fetched of an idea. If a Tesla can be summoned to your location then it can just as easily be set to go to any location on its internal map system. The whole point of hacking is to make something work in a way it wasn't originally designed to do.

The movie implied nothing about its charging capabilities. Only that its navigation systems can be hacked to turn the car into a tool of chaos and disruption.

That’s what it would be like in the Florida peninsula during a hurricane evacuation if all cars were electric, they won’t be able to charge and the ones that didn’t charge up completely and are sitting out on the highway running out of electricity will block everybody else and then the tow trucks will be electric so they’re not gonna be able to juice up either. by the way, it takes about three hours to charge up each car so imagine being in line at three hours each for every car in front of you

As someone who once worked for a solar/EV charger company, I think what Elon meant is if you have solar panels and the Tesla home charger/battery backup in your house, then you’ll be able to have power and charge your car independently from the grid. That being said, it would only work if you’re driving short enough distance where you won’t need to charge elsewhere , unless you come across superchargers which have solar canopies. But I wouldn’t know where you’d be able to access the locations of these charger if you don’t have access to the internet.
These arent bad news for Tesla. People just dont understand how companies work anymore. There are a lot of reasons for tesla to have this being published.
This movie was great! It was like watching a play. The acting was top-notch, the pacing was just enough to make you feel dread, and the story was very current. I highly recommend it!
I thought it was terrible 😩 the dialogue was so heavy handed and unbelievable. So yes it did “feel like a play”, bc there was no suspension of disbelief. I was highly aware of the writing and acting the whole time. Like if your daughter goes missing - are you really going to start waxing philosophical and do a monologue (Julia Roberts’ preachy monologue in the cabin). The ending was an anticlimactic cliff hanger that made the whole (long) movie feel like the first episode of a series.
This is what is happening, and what could be next. All the division, the white/black fights. Cyberattack, yes, a WWIII without need to bring foreign military. Divide and conquer. Tesla just recalled ALL of the Tesla's made for auto-pilot issues...in this movie when Julia is looking at the tesla cars the camera scans down and you can read "auto-pilot".

I charge my 2 Tesla's from my homes solar and batteries already. Don't have to wait till it becomes a Mad Max world although the way things are going it might not be long.

At this point elon did not watch the scene. He based his comment soley off the photo that netflix tweeted. They just seemed like abandoned Teslas in a doomsday scenario, so he resoonded by saying teslas can still charge via solar panels in a mad max scenario.

Lol, it's amusing how simple this tweet is to figure out, yet according to you, he's the one abandoning logic. In an apocalyptic event, only electric vehicles will continue to function. Gasoline spoils very quickly, often within a few months, making it unreliable for long-term use. Diesel lasts a bit longer but still degrades over time. Moreover, refining gasoline from crude oil requires a complex and sophisticated infrastructure that would likely be unavailable in such a scenario. On the other hand, charging an electric vehicle with solar panels is much more feasible and sustainable, as solar energy is abundant and doesn't degrade over time. Therefore, electric vehicles offer a more practical and logical solution for transportation in a post-apocalyptic world.
I don't like Elon Musk either, but I don't think there was anything valid said in the video. Firstly, Musk's commnent is clearly a reaction to the pile-up of Teslas and makes perfect sense if you don't know what the scene is about. He didn't react to the scene at all. The software is simply being updated, and the government calls it a "recall", which is a misnomer. I've heard about clueless people out there reacting/posting/believing out of ignorance (kind of like Elon did with this movie), but now I'm seeing it first hand. No offense. I just assumed that people were more up to date with reality. It's kind of like when Tesla stock soars and Cathy Wood sells a crap load. It is not like she's dumping it, she just has to get her balance down below 10% again. It's EVERY TIME!
Right. A “recall” for a Tesla is 9 times out of ten simply a literal software update. You don’t have to do anything. You go out to your garage and the issue is fixed.
