I discovered this on youtube loved it asked my father if he had heard of eloy, than proceeded to tell he has all of their albums from the 70s and loved them and that I probably heard it as a kid over and over. So anyways 2 generation have discovered and loved eloy. I was born in 1976
@@Batstrings Nah. We all have things that nobody else talks about or even cares about that we just keep to ourselves. I had a similar moment not long ago when I was visiting my family, and my dad asked if I'd ever heard of a band called "Haken". I proceeded to gush about how they're one of my favorite bands and how I have every album and that I was listening to their newest one in the car on the drive over. Given that I've loved their music for so long, and that I was still living with my parents when I first started listening to them (probably a decade ago), there's just as much of a missed opportunity for my dad to have heard of them.
This is one of the best albums ever. On a good sound system it is SUPERB. I agree Jurgen Rosenthal is one of the best drummers/percussionists who ever tapped/banged on drums and cymbals. Noteworthy, Jurgen Rosenthal wrote the lyrics for all songs in the albums "Dawn" and "Ocean": A LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD AGREE THAT THEY ARE GREAT LYRICS.
+Kali Godbee ....and Jurgen was the drummer for the Scorpions 'Fly To The Rainbow' album. The absolute most underrated album of all time. In fact, if the Scorps were British, they would be billionaires by now. But Eloy, although totally differing in style and composition, was awesome, and then add Jurgen's skill set. I love it!!
How come this splendid bas isn't more well known? At least internationally, at least as far as I know. Dunno about the local status..sooo glad to have discovered this band, thanks to a recommendation from someone here on youtube
Part 1 of 2 of a new eloy album is scheduled to come out this march. Its a big deal for me because its the first time that i've heard about an album by a band i like coming out and looked forward to it (only began discovering prog 4 years ago). I haven't listened to all their music yet but i gotta say, this album, planets, and floating are exceptional!
He started With Uli Jon Roth, and Francis Buchholz in Dawn Road, then moved on to Scorpions in 1973-74. Then had to leave Scorpions, due to German Army complications, found Eloy, made 4 studio albums and 1 live album. In 1979, after Silent Cries & Mighty Echo's. Rosenthal & the pianist, for Eloy left and made their own album in 1980. 1988 I think? Jurgen is in an album with Echo Park.
many thanks for this album but why you stop the songs and made space between them .this is a concept album there are no spaces between the songs !!!!!!

Yes! I fell in love with an obscure Japanese prog rock band from the 70s and looked for ages to find another that I could listen to without being bored and I'm really happy to finally find this one.
@@JoLynRol Desole! It's name is Mandrake, amateur band in the 70s, released a few songs in 1997 after the band leader was forced to promise it on his sickbed. The recording quality is quite poor on half of the songs unfortunately (you know, being a band with no studio and all). I would say listen to Mandrake - Kazari mado no dekigoto Another great one with not so bad recording quality is Syuumatsu no Kajitsu
Such a great album...I thank great people like yourself for taking time out of their lives to share this with us...Because; you would NEVER hear it on the radio! Thanks to youtube too for having the sharing platform...Your wins FAR outweigh your losses youtube...:)
I met with ELOY...in.. 1995? 1996 or maybe... but now 2018 , they still can easily make me almost cry... from their melodies... tunes... great job! Respect and admiration!
Weiter so Frank ! Ich liebe Deine Musik und führ immer . Alles Gute Wolle!!! ❤❤❤ 😊😊😊
If only there weren't YES, Genesis, ELP, Nektar, Triumvirat, Jane, King Crimson, Dream Theater, and a few others. Floyd, I might grand a top 3 spot, but the other two - even though I love em - not so much.
"Awakening" - 2:39 "Between the Times" - 6:07 a) "Between the Times" - 1:50 b) "Memory Flash" - 1:56 c) "Appearance of the Voice" - 1:12 d) "Return of the Voice" - 1:08 "The Sun-Song" - 4:55 "The Dance in Doubt and Fear" - 4:27 "Lost!? (Introduction)" - 5:20 Side two "Lost?? (The Decision)" - 5:01 "The Midnight-Fight/The Victory of Mental Force" - 8:10 "Gliding Into Light and Knowledge" - 4:13 "Le Réveil du Soleil/The Dawn" - 6:49
It is hard to put into words just how good this album is. Im 22 years old now and will listen Eloy till the day i perish.. Who knows.. Maybe continue listening this between the times and beyond ;) fucking BRILLIANT. Nektar is also amazing band!
@@manfredpasch4094 Absolut richtig.
I am deeply ashamed of being absolutely unaware of Eloy's great music. Ignored them due to abundance of other bands.. hope some of Eloy's hardcore fans could advise on their favorite best.. should I start collecting all their catalog or some albums not worth of buying. I will appreciate your expertise
'71-'82,ten studio albums from that period those are their best albums IMHO,if you don't get all 10,stay in '70s,eloys 1st'71 and dawn'76 are their heaviest lmo.'74 and'75 releases also, right now i only have'73s "inside" but the 1st and "dawn"and their 3rd album im getting next,3 at a time for now.
Eloy were always a very consistent band... this was the very first album I bought by Eloy when I was a teenager... a band not very popular here in the States...
Eloy music transfer you out of time and space. So many people dont know how good this band is. Thanks to my old friend who introduced Eloy to me ! Only band who come same level as Pink Floyd !
Pink Floyd are ridiculously overrated, animals is the only semi decent record they ever did in my opinion, not on the same level as Nektar or Eloy. That's just me though
one of the best bands in the seventies, so far from the general shit of today. remember other progressive rock bands of that forever lost, wonderful, rich, creative and blessed period : genesis, barclay james harvest, the moody blues, pink floyd, pavlov dog and so on. Music was like cars, beautiful and not in plastic. Things work together, today they are second, third rate
I don't think I've ever heard anything from this band before, but DAMN this is enjoyable! Now I'll have to start looking for the album on cd. Hopefully it exists.
