As someone diagnosed with tourettes, there are a million qualifications, and all of them have to be met. Also suppression of tics is possible but its actually painful like holding in a cough. Elphaba is quite a specimen that needs help.

as someone who suffers with tourette’s and has to take extremely strong painkillers every other day because of the pain we a result of tics, seeing her fake the whole thing was infuriating, and faking tics as if it’s a “fun” thing to have… part of me wishes she did have it because i speak for myself but i am sure others would with tourette’s would agree that it’s a horrible thing to have and if she did have to suffer like this she wouldn’t be running around using it for “clout” 😒

I just want to preface this by saying that I was diagnosed with autism at 7. I'll say this in Elphaba's defence, (which I can't believe I'm doing), having a special interest, be it a film, a science, a franchise, anything, is absolutely an autistic trait. And because it's so difficult to get diagnosed with conditions like autism and ADHD, self diagnosis is entirely valid, provided it's well researched enough. Plus there are more neurodivergent trans women than neurotypical. Love you both, and your content, but I felt like I needed to address this specific issue, so you can both be better informed. ^^

1. Elphaba needs to start saying she has impairments. If you suffer from the symptoms of a disability or condition but don't yet have the diagnosis, you have impairments. People might be less offended if she used that language. 2. Elphaba mentions meltdowns and hyperfocusing, yet doesn't consider she may have ADHD lol, or some other condition. It isn't just autism based on her traits. 3. If she used her donations to get private GP referrals and a private autism diagnosis, it would be done within 2 or 3 weeks and she could then claim to have x, y, and z based on the outcome. Instead she wastes money on useless stuff she doesn't need when clearly she needs mental help. 4. Just because people with autism say you might have it, doesn't mean it is true. They aren't and have no right to gatekeep who has autism. They are not an authority or a specialist with expertise, unless they actually are lol.

They don’t tell you to self identify! They make you fill out the biggest questionnaire my daughter has adhd add and more then on the spectrum with autism. My 8 year old is now finally getting the tests so far he’s defo on the spectrum but we don’t know how much yet. And again adhd add and other things. I can hands down say camhs do not tell you to self identify! Along with them they make the school do the same test and at home test. Then your put with a physiatrist and they are involved big time. Dont self identify its offensive and crazy

She is not a good person, however I will argue that its not as simple as 'she could just go and get a diagnosis', because literally if you are not a white cishet man who is obsessed with science or maths you will have a very hard time getting a diagnosis as an adult, disgnosis for autism is very discriminatory. I’m actually sick of seeing Elphaba treating these things like the next big trend! Self diagnosis, as was said in the video, can be valid in certain circumstances, for example when you can’t access medical care, but in the uk it is possible, very possible, although it’s quite a wait for things like that as it’s not an emergency situation, and so if waiting then you tell people you’re waiting for an assessment. Don’t just say you’ve got it in the meantime. The only genuine reason for not seeking an assessment and saying she has it is that she’s not confident enough she’d be diagnosed at the end of an assessment and despite what she said in her video, she does want it! But in general, as someone who is autistic, no, self diagnosis in the uk when you have ample access to healthcare, self diagnosis is not valid! Considering I got comments taken down for calling someone a name for saying people with chronic fatigue syndrome are just lazy yet people like him (the guy who said it) and Elphaba get away with talking all sorts of shit about all sorts of people is absolutely disgusting! 🤮

the thing with autism is that diagnosis is a privilege, and while i personally don’t think elphaba is autistic, self diagnosis IS valid so long as you do the appropriate research and meet enough of the criteria. getting a diagnosis for autism is incredibly difficult, especially if you’re not a little boy and in many places having an actual diagnosis of autism hinders your everyday because of bullshit laws that prevent you from doing everyday things. australia recently passed a law where you have to jump through even more hoops to get a license if you are diagnosed with autism, and in queensland not having a doctors certificate to drive can get you up to $9000 in fines. and when going to the doctor can be inaccessible because of costs and lack of resources in the medical industry, many autistic people can’t drive in fear of getting a fine, which would put them in an even worse financial situation than before with the current housing crisis and rampant inflation. and because they can’t drive they can’t work. anyway basically self diagnosis IS valid, but elphaba is a joke and she is using autistic people’s struggles to gain clout.
