WOW!!!! Thank you SO much for all your kind words. I'm so humbled and touched by your reaction to this!!!! /Andreas Stone (One of the songwriters and producer of the song)
The song also has a flow and airy sound that reminds me of Aurora. That's a HUGE compliment in my book. This song is just everything! My goosebumps have goosebumps.
1:13 The way they did that in-sync Amazing song! I really hope Elsie wins MGP, her entry feels like it's on a completely different level from everyone else, there's just something magical and powerful about it Has top-10 potential at Eurovision if they do the live performance right
This is simply breathtaking. My winner for sure Also, I highly recommend to check out her works in Elsa & Emilie. The genre is a little bit different, but they are just as beautiful. Their live performances show our girl *can* sing live, so she is something to look forward to
Elsie will be the winner of MGP, and has a good chance to win Eurovision as well! As William said, it depends on the staging. The song is just phenomenal. It gave me goosebumps all over my body!
@@robrobsen9727 My mind changed a bit after seeing Elsie Bay live. I wasn't too impressed by the performance, honestly. So you might be right. I just hope Elsie will be able to deliver something much better next time. The song has a lot of potential. But the hype around Subwoofer seems big indeed.
My friend, my mom and my favourite is this song! I just soo love this song. It could be my most played song in this year on spotify lol, thank you Miss Bay for this an amazing song ❤
I adore this so much. I haven’t listened to all of norway’s entries but this one is easily my favorite so far. probably my winner of the national final season thus far too
It's lyrically very beautiful. I'm keen to see how they stage this and if she can bring the emotional depth through singing it live. I love the bit where she sings "You gave me all that you had to give in this game of us that I couldn't quit." That whole last third is just stunning 😍
@@feggyo well, I never mind a properly epic orchestra but I think her minimalistic touch was also very interesting. It was so mesmerising. If I added something to that, it might be a discreet and delicate beat ( something Aminata-like perhaps - Latvia ESC 2015). Nothing else was missing from her show-stoping witchcraft. Missed opportunity for Czechia. The Domi guys are good but kind of basic and unsurprising.
If this has a great performance I can honestly see this being a top 10 finisher in Eurovision, maybe even higher. The composition is actually incredibly unique, so many interesting chords that are thrown in that really just make it stand out. I really like the song but I think this is going to be amazing live. I really hope this makes it as I'm not a fan of any of the other favourites (I'm not a fan of novelty so I don't like Subwoofer, I just love this one)
@@cecilieklaunes3626 The performance was actualy very good, the voice was close to pitch perfekt. she did a magnificent job, but there have to be some changes with the staging. if they do a good job it could me magical
I literally cannot WAIT for Melodi Grand Prix this year. I'm so excited to see so many of the songs live. But Elsie Bay and 'Death Of Us' just has a hold over my heart so much that I cannot bear to see it lose to a jokey (but catchy, I know) song. Sorry Subwoolfer fans, but we need to elevate things😭
It's funny, because every person I introduce this song to in Norway compares her to (of course) Billie Eilish, but also another whole different artist. Aurora, Lana Del Rey, other norwegian artists, other eurovision artists, but it's always different from person to person. She has a beautiful voice, but it's kind of a mix of things that really work in her favor, especially if different people compare her to different things. I'm so excited to see the staging. That is what will make or break this, luckily tonight we'll figure it out!
Yes this is great. It's a kind of song like Tears getting sober, but Death of us has a way better structure and holds the attention. Also a great lyrics and instrumentation. But still, I'm for Subwoolfer, I think it must be between those 2 for the win.
i just saw her semi 1 performance and rated it 8/10, but after listening to the song on spotify i'm all in. this song has potential and her voice reminds me so much of soko? 2011 throwback haha
At first I thought this was too similar to Bulgaria's effort last year, but this song is quite moving and my favorite among the selection. I'm sure this will stand out between a lot of either standard-ish pop songs or more comedic songs like Subwoolfer's
I really love it, but I would LOOOVE to see Hammer Of Thor in Turin, the song is just so catchy, the build-up is insane, and it can have a magnificient staging
I honestly don't understand the Billie Eilish comparison. I understand that it's a go-to reference point right now but as a big Billie Eilish fan, I don't think this sounds anything like Billie. Like I cannot think of a Billie Eilish song this sounds like. Billie's music isn't big, bombastic and dramatic. It's usually quite understated. Lana del Rey on the other hand? Absolutely. Victoria? Sure. I'm just so tired of things being compared to Billie Eilish when most of it sounds nothing like her output. :D
I couldn’t agree more with you! I don’t see the similarities with Billie. It definitely reminds me more of Lana, Aurora and perhaps even Skott in a way (with this being more orchestra than Skott). Elsie will definitely have my vote if she ends up representing Norway!
It’s got a classical sensibility with a modern vocal performance.... it’s interesting but I feel like it’s missing something? Idk maybe needs more emotion (edit: on the performers part not in the song itself lol)? Definitely can be elevated with staging, whether they go big and grand pulling on that orchestral feel or more artsy
Comparisons to past competitors and artists like Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and Aurora while valid, totally disregard the past 8 years during which she has been releasing songs with this exact sound (via Elsa and Emilie, ) which she was doing before many of the artists she's being compared to
OK - I'm not impressed with the collection of songs in MGP this year. However, THIS is the obvious stand-out. With regards to Turin, my only reservation is that, much like Victoria last year, the audience just won't go for it. I suppose it all boils down to the competition. If there are some fairly decent bangers in the running, then I can see this being disregarded by the voting public.
i dont know, I'm thinking about copying lana del rey - young and beautiful :-/ I immediately remembered listening to the main line Lana, and its not good... and something irritates me about that song, probably that it's not cohesive and jumps from one key to another... can you sing melody this song few minutes later? dont think so, bcs it doesnt have strong melody :-/
