Over 30 years ago, Elspeth Beard rode her motorcycle around the world and became the first British woman to do so. She crashed in Australia, fought hepatitis in Iran, forged permits in India, and now she lives in a Victorian water tower which she restored herself.
For many years, Elspeth's story went largely untold. Fortunately for us all, over the past decade, she's become one of the most inspirational authors and speakers in the world of adventure motorcycling.
In this video, we caught up with Elspeth Beard at the 2021 Adventure Bike Rider Festival to discover more about her fascinating story.
The Adventure Bike Rider Festival 2022 is held on the weekend of 24-26 June at the stunning Ragley Hall Estate in Warwickshire, England.
It's the ultimate weekend event for adventure motorcyclists where you can ride the 20km-long AX41 Adventure Trail, see all of the latest adventure and touring motorcycles, join guided rideouts, get off-road tuition, listen to inspiring guest speakers, live music, masterclass sessions, and much, much more.
