100% agree with you! At 31, i think back at how I came from a very abusive home where both parents were immigrants - step-dad putting us through hell, the domestic violence, moving alot, the scarcity of food/clothes - the trauma I endured and wishing my mom would leave the monster. As an adult, I don't blame mother for staying. Many need to stop judging from the outside in. It's always easier said than done. We say our situation was a blessing in disguise because my mom and brother were able to fix papers through a domestic violence law. (Not sure what's its called) My mom decided to call the police and was ready to be deported. I was 16 scared as shit along with my 8 and 3yr old siblings. My little sister was his daughter and is a us citizen alike myself. As Adults, my mom and I always say that women need to be financially independent so if things don't work out, one can easily leave the relationship. Elsy is financially independent and kudos for her being able to be in a position where she can chose happiness over financially burden and dealing with an abusive. I recently heard that a manager in my company is leaving her 6 year relationship because the man is not committing- hence she makes over 6 figures and can chose to leave out of emotion. Next time we praise why women should not stay in abusive relationships, let's push for financial independence so everyone, including children, can have the opportunity to live happily without traumas.

She also has the money to do so. Not many people in those situations get out due to lack of financial resources

My mom was so afraid to leave because she had 2 daughters she thought us three couldn’t make it without my dad financially supporting us. I started to work at age 16 and my sister as well . We told our mom that we could finically support each other . It was hard on my mom to believe in herself that she could make with us two . I’m glad she was able to snap out of the mentality were sadly she grew up in a household de machismo. It was hard very hard but I’m glad cause everything work out for the better . That’s why I’m happy for Elsy shes financially stable were she doesn’t need help . She doesn’t have to wait and stay in a relationship that’s no longer good for her. Elsy is bless financially but not everyone is and it sucks.
