My top 3 for this album are definitely Finish Line - not much else to say except that it's a masterpiece, good Elton vocal, Stevie slays, choir part hits hard. Iconic track Pink Phantom - it's such a strange combination of artists but it works. The very psychedelic vibe (especially if you also watch the video for the song) surprised me in quite a positive way. Chosen Family - this song just means a lot to me personally, it's something I really connect with lyrics-wise, Rina is awesome + add Elton and it's perfect. An honorable mention would go to I'm Not Gonna Miss You. It's such an emotional song, late Glen Campbell's last song, written about his Alzheimer's diagnosis. It's just beautiful and I think Elton fits quite alright into it.
Awesome job dude, gonna have to check out the review on Bruno Mars, and Anderson Pak next! As for this album, I have nothing to say since I haven't listened to it, though I'm considering it. Never really listen to Elton John much. If you want something new to listen to and are open to reviewing it. I'd like to see what you think of the album Dark Horse (Dekux Edition) by the band Dirt Poor Robins. If you like the album The Resistance by Muse, you'll likely end up really enjoying Dirt Poor Robins album, Dark Horse!
Why yes! I can recall a Sir Elton John from my youth! I believe he accompanied me on a long trip to Chicago. I was a child in the back seat with nothing but my Walkman, R2D2 headphones, and my pal Elton who proceeded to serenade me with the lion man's jam for the rest of the trip!
I’ve gotta say I agree with everything you said about all the tracks. The only thing is I’d give it a B+ because I feel the great tracks over compensate for the weaker tracks on the album. My favorites are Orbit, Finish Line, E-Ticket (grew on me too), Simple Things, Stolen Car, I’m Not Gonna Miss You, Cold Heart, After All, Nothing Else Matters. Great review.
